pCARS 2, pCARS 2, everything now is pCARS 2! Sounds more and more every day like pCARS 1 is only half a game.

Just about half a game. To note i have played this game ALOT, any game time its been this, flirted with other stuff but literally my whole set up is based around this game, wheel, pedals game seat screen up close to wheel about 30 cm from me, 68 FOV etc etc.....BUT....

I know its flawed, and worst than that the developer has at its head an utter Bell.
So i love the game DESPITE its flaws (i too grew to love shift 2 so go figure) but they did sell us a pipe dream of Peter Molineux proportions.
The thing i've hated above all else, and anyone who ever even took a little glance within the official PCars forums will recognize is this...

Hi guys i have an issue with screen tear or whatever...

Have you done a full reset?
if xbox you should of got a PS4
if PS4 you should of got a PC
if PC you should of got a better graphics card
if you have a good graphics card you should of got a better PC
your doing ti wrong i have NO issues that you mention....good day.

If they sell a game to multi platform they should then accept the possible pitfalls of that console, no good making it for console then blaming people for buying it on a console!

also:
game dosent handle well
if controller you need a wheel to play this game as its a 'sim'
if you have wheel get a better one
if you have a good wheel your clearly used to arcade games like forza / GT..good day.

Its always someones fault other than the devs, they would happily allow their core customer base, consoles, to get hammered than admit they did stuff wrong, only now does Ian come on before xmas to suck up and basically use it as an opputunity to sell PCars 2.."guys all the good stuff yopu want, well its in PCars 2" ..."oh Ina thank you so so much oh its an honor wookie, we love you wow, please save everything for PCars 2 and start to tell us that you knew actually the PCars1 was a hash job"......

Amazing how a change of plans around DLC could trigger this reaction... pCARS 1 is still all it was, just with slightly reduced amibition level for the DLC.

The changes to proposed DLC was just the final straw. SMS has lead everyone on from the start and only now are they coming clean on what we are/aren't getting. Basically they have been winging it and got found out.

How is everyone getting on with the animated pit stops.... oh wait
What is everyone's opinion on the Driver Network that places you in races with other people of the same ability and also stops rammers joining your lobby... oh wait
What about the OVAL racing that incidentally there is a whole section dedicated to in the booklet I got with the Ltd Edition copy of the game... oh wait
Is anyone else getting fed up with being stuck behind a safety car for half a race... oh wait
And when you wreck your car, aren't the cranes lifting you off the track awesome... oh wait

As I say a lot, pCARS is still a great game, but SMS have bull ****ted us all and need to be held accountable. In most other industries they would have no customers left to lie to and if I treated my customers the same way I'd be out of a job.

pCARS 1/2

The fact Ian Bell has pretty much said already "wait for PCars 2 guys" for any fixes, tells you all you need to know. PCars 1 is what it is, on console a good racing simulator for anyone who loved ToCA games, but all it needs is a bit of proper competition from AC or whoever and people will just walk away.
Someone needs for sure to reign in that Bell.
The likes of GT and Forza had left a massive hole on the console market of just a proper looking racing game like codies used to do so well. No american "whoaa dude you scored big drift points" or massive lists of random japanese boxes with 10bhp, or limos or Hummers etc....
They saw a gap and exploited it, fair play, but they aren't a nice bunch IMO.
If i went and got a PC set up i'd be playing AC for sure.

To wait 7 months telling people its the real deal, to then changing tyres to patch 6 saying "now this is the real deal" to a month later changing 'back' in patch 7, but adding a bug which renders tyres ice cold after 2 laps but STILL releasing a DLC And getting the fanboys defending them to the hilt is the stuff of legend..Ian Bell for sure spent xmas laughing his drunken head off at the peasants.

Although I'm enjoying PCars I agree that it isn't perfect and unfulfilled promises will hurt PCars2 sales.
However, I've seen this "AC > Pcars" argument from other people in other forums and I simply don't get it. Don't get me wrong, I've been following AC for a while, I'll most likely buy it when it gets released on PS4, but I just don't understand people complaining about PCars then saying they're moving on to a game that has less cars, less tracks, no dynamic weather or night racing, and less options that PCars.

All this complaining. Sure it sucks about the DLC thing, but if you don't like it that much. I'm sure Forza has a open door. Go play that!

Well said mate.

Edit: I've also noticed an increasing number of WMD members at the official forum finally snap and say what they really think. When the financial backers of your product stop supporting it and start complaining you know you've really ****ed up somewhere lol.

Because competition breeds excellence, i'm from the UK and when we had one Gas board one Telecom provider it created a monopoly, monopolies are not good it means everything else gets stifled and the ones holding the strings can do what they like as the consumer has no alternative.
Think of driving into a city and seeing 3-4 petrol stations in few miles, look at the price of fuel...then take a trip down a motorway (highway) and see one petrol station in 10 miles with no other options...check out the price of fuel...

Weather AC is better or worse it will do somethings better i'm sure then SMS will have to stop and take a look and be careful how much they BS people in the future.

I get your thing about complaining, but more than a few of us play BOTH PCars and Forza, so why feel the need to use Forza as an insult?

Many will play ANY driving game they can get their hands on, i'm a petrol head before i call myself a gamer, i don't care which platform is best which game is best, if i like the look of it i get it.
I dont care for "PS4 is better than xbox" or "PCars is better than Forza" i care about "Alsonso in the Merc would walk all over Lewis" or "Alfa Romeo are better than BMW"

Its like when dorks say stuff like "hey instead of playing racing games why dont you do track days or race?" well simply put I do, but i can drive in a 'game' WHENEVER i want, 12pm at night, in the morning, i can play games AND do real life aswell.....

All i'm saying is that when SMS chose to scrap practically every feature that was announced as 'coming soon' last month, i hope they retained the good sense to at least polish up the what is present ingame during 2016.

There's still a lot of areas that need finetuning and bug fixing, so if those are attended to i'll be more or less satisfied with how the game turned out. Not happy about all the extra content that was promised but not delivered like most of you guys, but like i said before had they not made the mistake of announcing stuff they couldn't implement, we would have been a lot more satisfied with what we got already (point @skazz is making).

AC does not have dynamic weather or night racing? :0

It does not. Only sunshine or light cloud, during the day. However you can select track temperature and track surface grip levels, and the track surface will change as it is rubbered in.

I just read the AC manifesto for 2016 on facebook and it was refreshing in its honestly and wording, no BS no bluster and no arrogance. I really am expecting good things from them for consoles.

Forza is irrelevant, the devs should be held to account.

A couple of the posts above that mention the head developer Ian Bell make me shudder, i had forgotten about him, what an arsehole.

Is AC confirmed for consoles? that's pretty epic....I also heard Dirt Rally is too...what's the expression, you wait for a bus.....

I wouldn't hold your breath, i know that shift 2 isn't PCars and it is a new game on a new console, BUT, SMS did leave SHIFT 2 with for example a couple of cars (radical and caterham) with front wheels that flicked from side to side non stop in replays. They do tend to have a habit of making excuses and moving on.
Dont forget Ian said that for PCars they outsourced QA, so that explains why so many issues got through and gave them the chance to blame something else other than themselves.(with shift it was big bad EA)...

I think now we get mainly small patches to get rid of the DLC then thats your lot.

If that would be the case and it turns out this title is completely abandoned, i bet many people here will draw their conclusions. If honest mistakes or bad organization are causing a title to become 'abandonware', you'd be able to forgive it one time but if it happens to PCARS 1 again then it would be clear to everyone that it's an intentional move.

But let's wait and see... This time next year we'll know.

Hey, I went out and bought the latest Forza like you said, but I'm too stupid to be able to get it to work on my PS4. You seem like an intelligent fella, can you tell me how I get a game from a different console to load up?

Thanks in advance.

Happy new year and best wishes for 2016!!!

SHIFT 2 is a great example of a sequel which really didn't learn from the mistakes of the original. I never bought it because SHIFT 1 was so frustratingly floaty+steering lag and 2 didn't solve it.

But I always thought this was the publisher (EA) choosing to let SHIFT 2 support go. Maybe I'm naive on this though :)

And with all this talk about changes to future DLCs, i still don't know why SMS's Andy Tudor tweeted this response on the 19th December to someone's question about future DLC in 2016.......Is it possible that they are playing with us a little bit?

Cars in circles: IndyCars/Nascars

Cars going sideways: Drift cars

Was there a follow-up tweet that said '...will be in pCARS2'?
Or '...won't have any tracks for them to drive round'?
lol

No, not a thing. And as the question asked about DLC in 2016, this must be referring to PCARS1! as it's fair to say (and already confirmed if i'm not mistaken) that PCARS2 is coming in 2017 or even later. That's why the annoucement last week of little DLC in the pipeline was all the more surprising!

Here's Tudor's Twitter:

That's the thing that ian and the rest of the guys ain't getting. They say that yea this will be in pcars2 but you never know if its gonna be possible. And like what i said before they shouldn't put POSSIBLE upcoming content on their website and then not deliver it all the sudden. Just like when they reveal pcars2 you saw that it said it will include things like co op career and rally and etc...... Question is though will they actually deliver that.

At this point I'm starting to think that a better idea will be a combination of both Asetto Corsa and DiRT Rally in the spring.
