Racing Icons, Audi and Renault Packs will be the best for you then. And they just cost a little more than 10€. Old vs New can be skipped as it only has the BMW WTCC as a racer.
Cool. Thanks man. Once I get a few laps in and get comfortable with the game, I'll splash out on those DLC and report back here with my thoughts. Definitely looking forward to giving this game a go. Should be a breath of fresh air compared to GT6.

But Old vs New is great.....The Yellowbird and Mustangs are a must, real hairy chested stuff just as it should be!!

He isnt into street cars tho. So it's skippable. The Toyota Pack is also borderline skippable If it wasn't for the amazing TSO40. but obviously to each their own ;)
The old+new pack has the BMW 320i S2000 WTCC/BTCC car, though, which is a huge amount of fun to race.

Yes it is fun. But its also the only one in its class so if you want to race you have the option to drive just against that Bmw or a messed up multiclass event. Failed Multiclass selection ruins the game to some extend. I wanna drive the Renault RS01 against some GT3s but not against Ford Capris

As some suggested we might get a mixed bag of cars and the Bannochbrae Circuit which is fictional. My guess is they start promoting the new dlc next week and then we can take a guess where it goes.

I can accept that the studio needs to shift priorities within the company, but being given fantasy circuits over real world locations and having that fantasy track prioritized over ovals is a bit poor,

They should have scrapped that stupid Bannochbrae track and give us actual courses like historic spa, monza, solitude...

I never realy enjoyed fictional circuits. Not in the Gran Turismo Series and not in Pcars (like the bootleg suzuka circuit, or that "california highway" stuff)
I think that Grand Valley was and is a great track, Midfield or the long autumn ring as well were great fictional tracks, I agree tho that altered reality tracks like Sakitto are not what I want in a game. Some realky good fictitious track or fully licensed but not a Mix of both.

Ian Bell said over on the official forums that track layouts do not need to be licensed. They could have put a 100% accurate Suzuka layout in PCARS without obtaining the license as long as they didn't call it Suzuka. They just chose not to do that so whoever owns Suzuka doesn't get pissed off.

Correct, but that's always the issue with notX models. You can't copyright a shape of a track...even if it bears striking resemblance to the real one. However, I think it's a smart move as they have obtained licenses for all of the official tracks thus far. Personally I find Sakitto to be superior in numerous ways to Suzuka, so no skin off my back.

Perhaps then they could make unlicensed versions of the three tracks in this game by modifying a few corners or having a different environment. In PCars 2 they could get the official versions.

The inclusion of the Bannochbrae track is anything but poor, and IMO it's a lot more compelling that any oval - wait and see :)

It may be a great track, but we are missing 2 genre's of circuit that make up a large portion of motor racing, and that is ovals and street circuits,

If they were to make street circuits based on real life locations that were "fantasy" tracks I'd be ok with that,

Agreed - there are 100s of cities where with a little imagination you could create a street circuit.

Sorry for short off topic: Its actually a dream of mine to have a fictional Stuttgart City track in a racing game. The layout would be start/finish at the main street which goes up and down through overpassings, then two short uphill straights and a uphill blast through the woods with some fantastic curves, then down the amazing Weinsteige with the city lying underneath you on the left.

But there was Suzuka in the early build in Pcars, wasn't there? And was that without the license? If so, Honda, the owner is pissed off now.. Which leads to -> no Suzuka in Pcars2, and that's a shame.
No fake track is superior compared to it's real version, in my opinion.

It doesn't matter if they don't do laser scanning of the circuits, if its a hand rendered reproduction with or without the official licence it doesn't matter, the only repercussion would be that the parent owner in the case of Suzuka I Honda could prevent their vehicles in a future release,

They removed Suzuka from the final release version to avoid just that - getting on bad terms with Honda. They did try to attain the Suzuka license, but apparently it didn't go through for pCARS1. However, with the Honda name included in the Indycar pack, things might look brighter for Suzuka in pCARS2.

pCARS 2, pCARS 2, everything now is pCARS 2! Sounds more and more every day like pCARS 1 is only half a game.
Amazing how a change of plans around DLC could trigger this reaction... pCARS 1 is still all it was, just with slightly reduced amibition level for the DLC.

Personally I still think pCARS 1 has a lot to offer, even with the flaky AI and not every feature that could be put in. I got round to upgrading my PC this week and can now run it on Ultra settings and it looks absolutely stunning. It blows away AC/R3E/rF2 graphically with ease. I have a place in my life for an eye candy racer, and pCARS is definitely the real deal.

And a hella lotta cut features. *ahemcomingsoontabahem*
Fair enough. So the real discussion is: "do you buy something based upon what it offers at release or based upon what is promised/indicated to be added later". <ignoring early access backing here since that is always a leap of faith>

Over-promising on SMS' part is stupid, but even so pCARS 1 is still a perfectly useable game with an awesome track list, reasonable car list, decent physics/FFB, awesome graphics, bearable AI, and at least a good basic set of race simulation features. Filling in the gaps could have made it better, but if those gaps aren't filled then we are still looking at a game from which all of us can get our moneys' worth.

Let me put it like this: Are we talking about features which would make it "amazing, no other sims get close, I no longer play them", versus the game being "a worthy addition to my shelf, but there are other games which offer things it can't". Or do you regard the gaps as "without this being added, I regret ever having purchased"?

Fair enough.

Dito. With all the shortcomings, highly frustrating boatloads of bugs, shoddy patch quality, lackluster pad support and arrogant, highly questionable forum behaviour by certain SMS characters, I personally wish I hadnt bought the PS4 version for myself and a friend for his birthday and stuck with the free (for me as a backer) PC version instead. But your mileage may vary.

Amazing how time can change, if I recall correctly, back when Pcars got delayed and then released, you were a supporter of SMS and Pcars, defending it from negativity :)

I reckon you could get someone to make that for you in GTR2, rFactor etc

Do you play pc sims?
