Project cars DLC

^^ Yeah I also don't understand all this grief, like someone's just died or something! Developers say crap they don't mean loads of times. I remember PD claiming GT6 would get regular monthly DLC. We know what happened there. Enjoy what is there and chill. Still more than enough content.
I mean, the Laguna BTCC didn't make it and people declare a national day of mourning LMFTO. So what?? It's a crappy Renault, life goes on. Jesus H Christ :-))

True, but your not posting that in reply to a thread about PCars issues on a forum about world famine..... this is a computer game forum which also happens to be in the project cars section..... so yes i will give time to others issues in the world but right now on this forum and in this section i think we want to talk about project cars.

Nearly as annoying as Ian Bell saying on official forums "guys its only a game" when people were complaining about them messing up patch 7 tyres.... well go check out the pcars website, maybe they need to realise its only a game.

The only thing I'm slightly annoyed about is no custom championships. That would have been a real winner IMO. Literally can't even shed a single tear over lack of ovals, try as I might.

They know how wanted it is so its a selling point for PCars 2, along with proper tyre model, Ovals and BTCC Renault. Like i say they didn't need to look far for the business model Codies have been flogging that dead horse for years, Turn 10 are pretty good at it as well... If SMS hadn't of sold themselves as the 'game changers' then i'd not be that bothered, but they said they would do things differently yet once the big sales come it it back to normal gaming industry standard of holding stuff back for next game or just selling back the same DLC over and over again.

Anyway, getting past the complaining....

I took the V6 Megane out for a race yesterday and it was one of the most intense AI races I've had in a while. The tyre grip was useable (not as tricky as the GT3s) but tricky in slower corners, FFB was awesome, AI was nicely on pace. It reminded me very nicely of all the good things about pCARS.

Best and most fun car in the game imo.

Yes i agree, i did a 10 lapper with a few mates the other day at Donington National in the V6 Megane, a really good car, challenging and fun!

Everybody keeps harping on about the greatness of this car. I only tried it once in a fixed default setup public lobby with the pad on PS4. It was absolutely undriveable and frustrating.

Hallo Skazz ,
Out of curiosity , which track and the difficulty % of the AI ?

Well the answer is in your comment my friend, if you only tried it once on a pad with default setup...........Try it again and play around with the setup, and with time you'll see how good it is! ;)

Agreed, great little car, even better now i've found MY FFB holy grail....no SOPS or BODY. I dont find patch 7 hard, maybe bit more like ice than before but still fun and more knife edge. I find forza like ice racing, absolute joke really no car EVER drives like its on ice unless its ON ice.

I love the Formula 3.5 also, amazing car. But still annoying that i cant have proper weather sync during the single race weekend... thats a bug folks that will NEVER get fixed..

Been noticing a lot of seemingly innocent curbs are sending AI in FR3.5s flying, more than I've seen for a while. Turn 1 at Oulton and the left hander after the first straight at Road America are plain dumb. And on a related note, was driving the Audi R8 LMP round Hock Classic and the AI were bouncing up and down just driving down the straights, whereas my car was completely fine.

Guess I can tune a car better than the AI then lol.

I've had the same thing with flying Formula Renaults, Bleeder. The AI at spa at les combes seem to ignore the whole downforce thing and consider a career in aerospace!
Has anybody else been severley struggling with the RS.01 as well? Normally i can tune a car to my liking, but that thing just likes to do its own thing :( Anyways, as long as my baby, the C7.R doesn't handle like that i'll be happy :D

Just really got back to PCars after rebuying a wheel, Are the car's changing LOD's much worse? I dont remember it being this bad before (ps4)

Alot of cars feel kinda ice skatey almost Forza like...Am i imagining this?
I think it depends on the cars but I'm seeing it quite a lot now. Even the rear tyres on open wheelers have LOD issues. I remember it in old Forza games and disliked it and now here it is again.

As for the ice, probably a result of colder tyres in patch 7, we're all waiting for patch 8.0 to sort it out, or put it back to how it used to be.

The tires on that thing has a very small operating window. It's like a cliff between gripping like ice, and a little bit warmer and it will drive ok. I find that to be kind of the same behavior with all the new Renault race cars, except the Alpine.

Forgive me, what is LOD??!!

Level of detail, also known as pop up. As machines have gotten more powerful we see less and less of it, but in pCARS (on console) it appears on cars during replays mostly (wheel detail) and sometimes as you're following cars in race (rear end). Notice some details suddenly pop up such as textures or more intricate body work. I hope you never see it :P

Great, thanks for clearing that up!

I actually think we are seeing more and more of it these days as they are using very high polys when close but very low polys anyother time...Forza 5 had it the worse than anyother racer i have played and PCars seems really bad now as well.

Yeah it's everywhere. The latest Batman game has bad LOD issues as you approach NPCs that are only a few metres away. One day we'll see the end of this horrific abomination!

It's more laughable cause PS4 and X1 run with 8 GB of RAM, and it's probably the minimum setting on PC too. And those machines are more powerful so it's all about using resources properly and not rushing the game.

I've found that kerbs in pCARS are best avoided altogether, whatever the car or track

It's probably - as you say - due to lack of console optimization. The PS4 runs DDR5 RAM as well, so memory shouldn't be too much of a bottleneck. Hopefully this is something that will be drastically improved for pCARS2. Ian stated they wouldn't be using external QA for consoles this time round.

Let's wait and see which other future racing games come in at 60fps and don't sacrifice other assets because of it. We know Seb Loeb Rally will be 30, Driveclub was 30, no news on Dirt Rally or AC yet, even F1 2015 didn't manage it unless I'm mistaken. Might just boil down to the hardware and not just optimisation. Hope not.

F1 was 60 fps on Consoles and it looked good, Dirt Rally will be 60 fps too im sure. Assetto Corsa should be too, as far as I know it also only had fixed condition like Forza and Forza looks better than AC. PCars has Issues, but if you look at what it offers in terms of day and night cycle, weather, up to 50 Cars on Track etc the issues have still more to do with game play (No own Championship to create, no proper Multiclass selection, pit stops that work properly after you click save etc.

It's just impossible for us to know if the gameplay bugs are a result of restricted hardware memory, or poor memory usage or just poor programming/QA. I never played the Shift games but it sounds like some bugs crept over from those days, so it may be safe to assume it's partly how the game is developed by SMS for sure.

New tracks are always nice, but most of the american infield circuits are rubbish anyway.

I'd take a few extra Asian or European circuits any day of the week
TBH I'm not familiar with those infields but I guess there's only so much you can do with the space inside an oval anyway.
