Yep, this appears to be whats happening. Shrunk the field down to 22 with me included, and the cars drove infinitly better. Quite a strange bug; I don't think I've seen anything like this before.

Not so much a bug, more like its SMS wanted to sell this game on massive AI grids of up to 40 plus cars when truth is it works better up to about 23 odd cars on track.
Again not a game breaker but they did suggest that grids of 40 odd would be possible, turns out its really not on consoles.
Sure someone will pipe up that it is possible and they have the golden copy that works perfectly with no slow down or issues. Hey oh.

I prefer the original layout of the GP-Strecke to the current layout. Don't really like that new section of track after turn 1, so it's not one of tracks I've driven the most in-game. The fact the 24hr layout uses the old turn 1 should bring a bit of interest in the Nurburgring back for me.

I don't think it's the strongest DLC, but i think the fact the free car is the AMG GT3 is a positive for those who don't want the Pagani's or the Nurburgring.

Can't say I've ever noticed it but now I'm intrigued. Will do some tests soon as.

Someone did a test on official forum and he was pretty much a fanboy but came to the conclusion that if you run grids over 23 cars then your lap times are slower, really weird stuff. He would suggest to the complainers to run grids of 23 or under only.

SMS wanted to use the grids as back of box selling points or willy waving but in truth they should of limited consoles to max grids of 25 for example, whats daft is most race series don't have huge grids in real life anyway unless its big because of different classes , which is a bit of a cheat. So yeah 15-25 grids is good for me, just wish they didn't feel they had to lie about it though..

How will it be his loss? He's not bothered by them. I personally (please its my opinion no point trying to change my mind or call me names or say i'm a loser or whatever, i don't like Nurb, is that OK with you?) find the Nurb the most over rated track in the world, everyone bangs on about it all the time.
Its also like a prostitute as everyone has had ago and they let anyone and any vehicle on it.....and the only good thing about the Nurb is watching all those youtube clips of people crashing their road cars.

It's just a phrase people use. He didn't call him a "loser". Just that it was his loss to not be able to appreciate the content this time. Some will enjoy it and others won't bother getting it so will miss out (or lose out) on some level of enjoyment. Thats all he meant. :)

I wonder in the next update if it's gonna be anything in the files. I think after this pack we might see one more in april and that's it. Just my thoughts about that. At least they supported the game (DLC wise) for just about a year.
If they add custom championships and the pitcrews I'll give them slack for the rest of the issues. :P

This is off topic so forgive me. Since PCars2 was announced, I've heard that not all the cars will be carried over from the current Pcars. What are the chances of our being able to import cars from Pcars1 into Pcars2?

I suspect this would not be a problem for SMS with the PC game. But what about consoles. Does it even make sense?
I will repost this on the question & answer thread. Sorry for off topic.

Being modern gaming I'd imagine cars will be held back for future DLC, Turn 10 pretty much wrote the manual for this tactic. For sure SMS won't of spent time modeling cars to just not use them again.

FS7
I've never had issues with slowdowns but my PS4 sounds like a jet taking off when there's too much stuff going on.

You can run say full grid 40 odd cars at sun set or sun down time and you have no slow down or frame rate issues? Really? Can you upload a video of that?
Genuinely would like to see proof of that.

What? Ran 45 cars at Le Mans once and only made the PS4 fan run fast with no other issues other than some sound bugs and a track littered with shrapnel. :odd: What kind of field was it?

The back section of Le Mans is known for frame rate issues even on PC so don't believe your noticing the issues, but not knocking it, lucky you, some people don't notice frame drops etc.

Besides that one time with the Renault 3.5 I haven't had any problems running large grids (45 just the other day without a hitch) but there is obviously an issue which does bite occassionly given the several posts I've read about it here and on the PCars forum. I also don't add rain or night racing etc etc so I'm not really adding elements that might upset the PS4 too much.

Rain is a killer also, its certainly improved from release but some tracks have sections that are just plain badly optimised.

We don't encounter slow-down on track times when we run full fields on PC. That includes what...35-36 cars at most tracks? We frequently run LeMans races with a full AI field and a couple of human drivers.

Now, I don't think we've run say a full field of Formula A (driving with AI in open-wheelers is miserable). We normally do a big mixed field for LeMans.

SMS did explain on the bit on old cars not making into the sequel and turn up as a DLC in the FAQ thread in the official forum:

I'm not saying this is our case (we are not to the point where we already decided the economic aspect of the game), but for most developers that price is asked to cover the license costs, more than obtain a real profit, they are used to increase the game longevity (see us for example, with our very low entry point for our DLC's). In most cases the manufacturers sells their license per platform and per game title, so you need to re-negotiate (and pay for) them again, you can't just use the same model (and the same license) in another title. Also, the models are often reworked (if not built from scratch again), because the engine evolves during the years. Whenever some people sees all this like an attempt to collect more money, in many cases it's not a matter of being greedy, but the opposite: to not have a loss.

And back on the DLC topic, the next DLC sure looks less exciting than the previous one for me. I love Pagani but I was hoping to see cars to filled up those emptier class like Group C, Group 5 and Touring Cars.

I'm on Xbox. I played a one hour bathurst GT3 race last time with a 36 Car Grid and had no problems either. There were previous versions of the game tho were it was broken and were it was impossible to enjoy the game.

I've experienced a frame drop at LeMans on the Ps4. But it has nothing to do with the amount of cars on track. Rather which type of car is On track.

This is interesting, having since this posting re visited Le Mans with various cars it does get worse with some and not others. Odd.

Shame since the in game one is not grunty enough.

Driveclub nailed it thankfully...as they did with the RS.01.
They fell into the trap of making it sound cool but completely different to the actual car, im fine with that because its driveclub but a simulation should get it right even if it doesnt sound as cool.
