After looking at several Project Cars videos and the site, I am definitely considering buying this for the PS4. However, I have a few questions:
1. Is the handling like the driving on ice garbage handling that was in Shift 2 or is it similar to GT games?
2. Will all of the cars and tracks shown on the Project Cars site be on the PS4 game?
3. Will the safety car, formation laps, grid starts, crane pickup of cars, etc be in the PS4 version?
4. Will 64 car grids be available in the PS4 version?
5. What other things will not be in the PS4 version?
6. Will it be 60fps?

I really hope the PC and PS4 versions are the same.

1. Nope, they're going full sim (as said by others who have tried it
2. Yes (with the possibility of the Test Track being excluded)
3. Yes, however, the Safety car wont arrive until a week 1 update as said by one of the devs
4. The console may not be able to handle it, the gameplay videos show 16 AI, but that could change by launch.
5. We dont know yet.
6. I believe its 30fps, but I could (and hope) thats wrong

1. No. This is really realistic. I have played it as well.
2.Yes.
3.Yes.
4.Don't know yet.
5.Don't know.
6.Yes. At E3 it is running 60fps.

Career Mode sounds nice. Now I hope we can choose the length of races in the career mode. I don't want a 3 lap each race gt/forza style career. I want to be able to play a whole race weekend with practice, qualifying and a race with let's say 50 laps or how many laps ever you want.

So players can play however they want. If they want a quick career they can race 3 laps if they want realistic career they can race 50 laps.

SMS if you listen, please add this :D
This has been discussed quite a bit on WMD. The general consensus is that proper race lengths are desired. There have been suggestions for variable race lengths, like you mention, either by scaling race lengths or tieing it to the initial difficulty level.

I can't give you any specifics ATM, but rest assured that you won't have a career with only a string of 3-lap sprint races; The pCARS career will cover endurance races, numbers like hundreds of kms, several tens of laps and several hours have appeared in race format documents... OK, I've said enough ;)

It's a chunk of reading but there's a lot of really good information in the Physics Thread.

All career race events will scale in length.

Thanks for the information, that really sucks that it's still only 16 cars, these consules should be like PCs now...

Who knows there could be more, maybe they only had 16 because they thought that more AI than that on that track would me too much to race properly. there could be more who knows.

Personally (on multiplayer atleast) Im hoping for the 24-36 range. It would be a dream come true if we can have 56 so we could do a 24 hours of LeMans, but I highly doubt that is likely

Now the question becomes...what bloody wheels besides the new Thrustmaster will work on the PS4? Fanatec? Logitech older wheels?

That's what everyone wants to know, and all involved companies keep their mouths shut about the matter...

Edit: new footage appearing on youtube. Controls look still way off, even though SMS said they would 'fix' them.

Will the tire barriers have realistic deformation? because from what I've seen in these gameplay videos the barriers are as hard as a guard rail. I want it to catch and protect my car rather than to rickashay me back onto the racing line with other cars on track

Its E3, the game isnt finished. Remember GT6 had 6 car grids at E3.

16 would be disappointing. 20 would be fine IMO

If Fanatec and/or Logitech make drivers for their current wheels or make new wheels, they will be supported pre-release or via a post-release patch.

So whenever either party got their business sorted and have compatible wheels, SMS will add these wheels. Why? Because SMS and WMD members like options, options and more options. Whether this is controller compatibility, game settings, weather settings, camera settings, vehicle setup... doesn't matter. The more options the better.
Plus SMS wishes to maintain pCARS properly, so adding new controllers/wheels to the game will be part of that maintenance. ;)

Long story short though. Haven't heard anything from Fanatec or Logitech officially if they are working on anything. So I basically don't have a clue other than voicing to you SMS their intend (from what I read) on this subject.

Uuuuh, these consoles are like a 3 year old gaming PC's. My PC (see sig) has about the same power as the PS4 and is 3 years old now in this configuration.

I mean that the console games should be equal to the PC versions of games now, I worded it badly.

ukfan758 has a point to a certain extent.

Remember consoles just now got 64 player battlefield 4 maps, the same as PC. If PC gets 60 car grids and console only gets 16 thats like PS4 battlefield only having 24 player maps. The gap shouldnt be that large, at least not this early in the ps4's life. Look at the steam hardware stats, most people have PCs weaker then the PS4. The most popular amount of video ram used in steam user graphic cards is 1GB, PS4 games are already using 3GBs of vram.

I hope the game isnt being dumbed down for the wii u or even the x bone

Either way 16 cars is unacceptable if PC is getting 60+

I personally would imagine at least the T500RS and the G27 will have support for awhile. Especially the G27 with how many of them there are out there. I know Logitech is cutting their wheel peripherals, but until Fanatec and Thrustmaster close the gap on the G27 I don't see why PS4 games wouldn't try to give it support.

Well said but could u further explain why adding new wheels is part of the pCARS maintenance?

If I remember correctly (feel free to correct me on this), Shift 2 had 16 car grids. The PS4 and XBone are much more powerful than their respective predecessors, so that it shouldn't be a problem to have 20+ on those consoles.

Better fanatec and Logitech will have some drivers ready for ps4 or they lose insanely lot of fans. Especially fanatec with its 4 digit wheel pedal setups. If the "older" wheels won't support the ps4 they never will see a cent from me.

I mean so far it looks like thrustmaster was the best choice for a wheel because it will be supported on ps4 too.

Shift 2 also wasn't running at 1080p60 and had such graphics. /Cpt. Obvious
DRIVECLUB only has 12 cars on track for a reason. It's also still very early in this console generation.

There's gonna be some workaround on the wheel compability, imagine those AAA racing titles like GT7 and PCARS does not allow to use clutch? WTF?

And DriveClub is only 30fps. 60fps + 24 cars + next gen physics/graphics etc. is not going to be a walk in the park and may not even be possible.

You would expect such an improvement in a car game based on real life racing series that feature 20 or more cars. I think it would be a mistake if they just turned the graphics up to the point where we got no vehicle count improvement.

In an arcade racer like Driveclub car count isnt important, people playing that game arent interested in battling to finish 14th after spinning early and getting out of a race with some points. They arent interested in having to pass 19 or more cars to win every race. They want to win every race. Huge grids dont make sense in such an arcade racer. Graphics arent always the reason for limited car counts, Little Big Planet limited the game to 4 players because anymore became too chaotic, it wasnt a hardware issue.

Also Drive Club is focusing on the environment with its visuals. 200km draw distances, animated water, hyper realistic clouds and more, hundreds of thousands of 3D trees etc. Drive Club's car models are actually less detailed then GT6 car models. And we know GT6 has 16 cars on track. So I think 12 cars in that game is a design decision, not a hardware issue.

I still dont believe its only going to be just 16 cars. If it does turn out to be the final car count I may pass on the game. I thought this game was suppose to be different from Forza and GT. Part of being different from those games IMO was focusing on the simulation racing experience instead of sacrificing important things like car count for visuals.

it isn't true, Driveclub's in-game models are much more detailed than gt6's models
