And DriveClub is only 30fps. 60fps + 24 cars + next gen physics/graphics etc. is not going to be a walk in the park and may not even be possible.

Is there any doubt about Project Cars framerate? If they want to be sim, 60 fps is like first thing I expect from one.

20-24 (AI) cars would be fine. What's the sense to have 64 cars on track? On a short track you start overlapping in the 2nd lap already.

Multiplayer is also a problem with too many cars on track. It is already hard enough to find even 10 mentally normal/healthy people to have a good and fair race. I can't imagine what will happen in an 64 car race with 70% morons on track.

No doubt. 60fps is the target on consoles and except for a few drops they're already there. With further optimisation in the last six months they should manage a rock solid 60fps.

You would expect such an improvement in a car game based on real life racing series that feature 20 or more cars. I think it would be a mistake if they just turned the graphics up to the point where we got no vehicle count improvement.
Stuttery tryhard graphics are the standard now. As new programming exploits/techniques are uncovered for the XBone/PS4, I'll be genuinely surprised if developers spend those gains on a steady 60fps or things that actually enhance or expand gameplay.

I believe it will be 60fps as they've said, I'm just saying its not going to be easy to just do what everyone expects otherwise DriveClub would be 60fps. Tradeoffs must still be made between track detail, physics, AI, sounds, cars on track etc., even on the PS4.

Well said but could u further explain why adding new wheels is part of the pCARS maintenance?

What's there to explain? They recognize just like us that there are little to no wheels available, but we all know this will change over time. Fanatec has already announced that they are working on something. So they will add support for new stuff when it becomes available.

A controller support list isn't known yet for either platforms, but will definitely be released on I reckon the official webpage. Just like all other studios have done for their racing titles.

Drive club director said they will have the best looking ps4 game............. SUURRREEE
If it wasn't for that 30fps they might be right. It is a beautiful looking game and if one is into the arcade style of racing it's gotta have you chomping at the bit. So far PCars and DriveClub both look outstanding, nothing to complain about with either one.

Its the only PS4 exclusive racing game, of course he's going to say that.

Also, I don't get why Drive club even gets brought up or compared in these conversations. I get that Project C.A.R.S. is a great sim, but these two aren't even the same kind of sim.

This is what happens when there's no news to talk about.

If Driveclub stopped putting 1.2 million unique trees and 10k flamingos on tracks, then maybe they could hit 60fps.

If you read about it, there's some pretty silly graphical things going on in DC that are really only there for developer epeen. They're not significantly affecting the gameplay in any way.

PCARS are pretty sure that they'll cut until it meets the standard that they want. They're always going to have the HQ version on PC, so there's not the same impetus to make it look super awesome on console, just as the games with a current and next gen version don't have the same impetus to make the current gen version look awesome.

Not that PCARS is going to look bad on console, that would be unpossible. But gameplay first.

I know they don't have many of the cars modeled, but imagine a WEC official license, including all tracks and all car classes :)

I have to say that I'm very impressed with the graphical quality SMS have achieved with Project Cars on the PS4. It looks even better than some of the PC videos that have been posted up on You Tube imo. I think they've done very well so far at using the PS4's power.

👍

I'll be listening...

But do you really think they'll wait for Le Mans weekend just to announce a single car manufacturer? :sly:

I think an Aston announcement is the least likely thing that could happen... but it's nice to think about. At this point the announcement could be anything, literally.

SMS could even announce that the moon will have a track on it.

That's not what I've heard.
