I don't want to be bothered with setting it up to my TV, and setting it up to my surround sound won't change the audio quality that is in PC games. Or lack of the same.



Believe me when I say that there's zero difference between your average PC gamer mentality and your average console gamer.

You will never convince me of that, I have had a much different experience with PC online than the consoles. With that said, it may be somewhat based on the games I'm playing (more sim oriented) but there is an element to consoles that can't be denied; in "general" there are many more children playing consoles. That blanket statement should not offend the mature console gamers. Children can't afford to buy a PC capable of running a true racing sim, and most don't have the interest.
I'm probably digging a hole but there is a difference, and I own 3 consoles now and enjoy them for certain games.
 
Dramaqueening much? I ve havent seen a post of you @ WMD in months and frankly your honest, observational view comes across as mostly uninformed. Doesnt sound like you invested time in setting up stuff properly and catching up on the state of things you tried. I mean, if you havent played pcars for month, you probably never even tried it with tire heat and wear before. Seems to me you just jumped into free practice and expected this beast of a car on cold 1980s tires (they only are pre-warmed in time trial mode) to be enjoyable out the box.

It doesn't sound like I invested time even though I mentioned it in my post about "getting everything sorted"? I recalibrated everything, went through a whole bunch of setup iterations to get the game playing how I liked it, along with optimising my graphics settings (as my old ones no longer performed as they did). I spent around 30 min straight lapping Le Mans with the Sauber C9, I dont think "cold tyres" are my problem.

Why do people have to be so defensive about negative comments? "Oh he said something bad, thus he must be a clueless noob who hasn't set up the game and doesn't know how to drive". I'm on the WMD forums daily, I don't post daily but I keep up to date on what is happening with things.

Somewhat true, yet you have to consider how many kids actually bother with sims. Go to games that are notorious for their bad communities, like CoD. And there's no difference.
 
*Shoots self*, I deeply apologize for my wild rant on the max 16 car grids for the console version. I was assuming that it was for the entire game and not just online. Though it will be disappointing to not have lots of players to race and it be like real life, I guess a positive is that we wont have to weave though 40 crashing idiots and it will be instead 10 now...

I have to agreed with you on this, i remember few weeks ago i download the latest build, did the settings as usual on my steering wheel and i went to a FPS on a gt3 car and i was like WT@# did they do to the car?? it felt like driving on ice i was spining out on every corner the eteering was really light like with almost no FFB. then i went to the logitech profiler and chane the spring force and it was like playing a diferent game, the FFB felt better and overall the car and the phisics felt really good.
So my point is you should really spend a bit of time setting up your game before jumping into conclusions.

My only complain so far is the graphics optimization for AMD cards and thats why it kind of piss me off when i read complains about the game on ps4 when it looks tons better than my £1100 rig. I kn its gonna get optimazed tho xD
Tell me if im wrong (I'm very tired)...So wait, have they pulled a Shift 2 where the cars now handle like they are driving on ice and they are no longer realistic? Now we have to do rigorous setups on all of our cars just to make them "drive-able"? Not this again...

No, nothing to do with shift series, thats even forbid to mention lol.. The phisics are really good (some cars, as some others need work still) and the tyre model even better, the FFB its what i ment, it is really important in Project Cars and any racing simulator, even the likes of rFactor and AC needs a good time setting up the steering wheel to make the FBB and the phisics to cone alive, i think thats a good thing tho cos some people like Strong FFB other like soft FFB, some others use pluggins like realfeel and leo's FFB which in my opinion only adds canned effects and nothing else etc etc

PS: trust me Im not a FFB guru or anything for that matter and after spending just about 5 or so minutes setting i manage to get a very good FFB so i think any1 can do it.

We have to do it almost on the daily basics cos every time we have a new build things change here and there so we have to delet profiles and start over again, once game is out you should do this only one time other that you want to improve it after

Thats what I meant with dramaqueening. I didnt say you are a noob or anything the like, I just said how your post came across. If you write that you havent played the game for months, it doesnt exactly sound like you are on top of things, like you probably have to agree. A lot of developments during that time changed how things need to be set up and how they feel ingame. But if its not that and your problems with the Sauber have other reasons, thats fine. I d suggest making a post at WMD describing your problems constructively in detail and I d be surprised if Casey wouldnt respond. Also make sure to check your tire temps in the HUD, there might be a bug at play, who knows.
 
Not really fussed about 16 cars on the grid only, only game breaking thing for me so far isn't sadly the developer's fault. Pretty sure I won't buy this with no Wheel support, makes the game useless for me.

The whole next gen wheel support issue needs resolve and fast.

Yep, if no support for (old) wheels on PS4, I´ll stick with Assetto Corsa on PC. It works on my old PC without investing into an high end PC to play Pcars.

I've been out of the PC game for years now and since I play many games outside the racing genre a console makes the most sense for me personally. Some of the best games I played last gen were only available on consoles: Red Dead Redemption, Uncharted, The Last of Us.
So, if I have to pay $500-600 for a T500(which I've read should be supported) I will; I'll piss and moan about it, but I'll buy it because I refuse to play with a controller.
 
16-car limit on the PS4...that's a win for PC gaming! I have to imagine how many cars will the developer max out for the PC version...

I'm kind of also fumbling around whether I should download on Steam or get a physical disc...

If you can play Assetto Corsa, you can play pCARS.
It would be nice to have a definitive answer to the PS4 wheel situation from the developers. I've been out of the PC game for years now and since I play many games outside the racing genre a console makes the most sense for me personally. Some of the best games I played last gen were only available on consoles: Red Dead Redemption, Uncharted, The Last of Us.

Exactly, If you have a PC you are all set. I can't afford a new wheel and I bet I'm not the only one, so if they won't support the wheels I won't buy the game to pay with my DS4. I know it's out of their hands though which is a shame.

16-car for multiplayer, NOT singleplayer!

Even then, that's still not confirmed, the actual number could be higher.
 
It was based on two things; the number given for the previous gen consoles (which was a memory problem (ie, not enough of it) an issue which is no longer relevant), and the demo that SMS had put out for the E3 only had 15 AI drivers. SMS will not confirm how many AI drivers will be on track because the game has not gone throught it's final optimisation stage. Once we have the game running at it's optimal performance, the devs will be able to give a final number.

It's been said before, the issue online is not necessarily limited by the consoles' ability to display x number of cars on track, more the online capablities of the consoles and the associated servers. We will have to wait and see what the final numbers are, SMS are not confirming any numbers regarding that (only that 16 would be a minimum).
 
If you can play Assetto Corsa, you can play pCARS.

Looks like you know my pc specs :) With the absolute minimum graphics settings and an 720p resolution I get 30-40 fps with 9 other cars on track. I doubt that pcars will run on my machine.

My Graphics card is an radeon 5670hd. And I've read here that it even runs not perfect on an 280x.
 
Assetto Corsa runs worse on my 780ti than pCARS right now, just to put things into perspective.
I could play pCARS with my Intel 4600 HD chip, as long as your CPU is all right it should work.
 
I don't understand why online would be limited to 16 players. Battlefield has 64 players, so if Pcars only has 16, then clearly, SMS is doing something wrong. There is no logic in the new generation of consoles only being able to handle the same amount of cars as the older ones. Same goes for online, as both MS and Sony has invested a significant amount of time, energy and money on upgrading their online infrastructure. Something they loved to make a big deal of when announcing their consoles.
 
I think that it is finally starting to become clear to people just how next gen this new consoles are. At best these new consoles are med. end computers. Your not going to see the huge leaps like there was between PS2 and PS3 because there isn't a huge leap from the PS3 to PS4. You might come up with a bit better looking graphics, but no big leaps to next gen as they have claimed.

Interesting, as I asked here, they said pcars needs high end components. And it has problems with amd cpu and gpu.

I get an old Intel q9400 cpu from a friend, 8 gb ram, mainboard and was thinking to buy an radeon 280x.

But I have time till October so maybe stuff will get cheaper.

Your not going to see the huge leaps like there was between PS2 and PS3 because there isn't a huge leap from the PS3 to PS4. You might come up with a bit better looking graphics, but no big leaps to next gen as they have claimed.

You have seen the uncharted trailer? It's in-game. Play battlefield 4 on ps4 and you get blind on ps3.

I am very impressed by next gen and we are just on the beginning.

Judging a new console generation by an game from an third party company, looking awesome on ps4 and is not even in beta status is not pretty fair.

These new console are basically like me taking a dual core 2.4 ghz pc with 4 gb of ram and onboard graphics, upgrading it to 6 gb of ram and a 6850 gpu and calling it a next gen pc. While it may be an upgrade from what I had, if I went around saying its capable of next gen gaming people would call me crazy. Yet the consoles did it and now everyone wants to blame the developers because they aren't seeing next gen games, only dumbed down pc graphics so that the devs (Ubisoft) can say "see it looks just as good on console as it does on pc. :rolleyes:

I know this might blow your mind, but there's more to games than graphics. Try making a PC with the specs of the PS3 or 360, and see what kind of graphics you get.... Dispite being way underpowered from a technical standpoint, consoles achieve amazing things. You can't look at the specs and give an accurate estimation of what you can achieve with it based on your experiences with PC's, as console games are optimized far better than their PC counterparts. Given the significant increase in performance from the PS3/360 to the PS4 and Xbox One, it doesn't quite make sense if Pcars can't run with more than 16 cars on track. Regardless of whether it's online or offline.

PC's have a lot of power, but very little of it gets used to its full extend. There's a difference between having a specific amount of power dedicated to just running games (like on consoles), and having a system that has to run all kinds of things at the same time. Want you play the latest Battlefield game? You have to run Origin, a F'ing web browser and the game, all at the same time. You'll probably have Steam running as well. And more random BS that you don't need at the time.

I never said console devs don't get a lot out of what they have to work with, what I am saying is people are wanting huge grids along with time and weather changes on the consoles and they just aren't capable of doing all of it at the same time. Something has to give either physics, graphics or grid size and it appears, nobody knows yet, like grid size is what will take the hit in Pcars. Makes sense since SMS from the very beginning have said the physics will be the same between console and pc.
 
You guys have to realize a PS4/Xbone is working much, much harder to put 16 cars on the track than a PS3 was/is. The graphics will be better, the FPS will be higher, it'll be full 1920x1080, much more going on in the physics department and other things you don't see. It's not an apples to apples 16 cars on track comparison. The PS4 will be able to do what GT6 does with one hand behind it's back, PCars and other next gen games are already a couple of steps ahead of that.

Having said that, grid size is in no way confirmed, but I'm happy SMS is sticking to their physics+game first and building around that. I'll sacrifice cars on the grid if it means over the top physics and gameplay.

If I recall, the PS4 has 5GB's of GDDR5 RAM dedicated to games. I realise that hardware requirements aren't exponential, but I don't believe for a second that the huge increase in overall performance is only enough to raise the native resolution as well as do some more fancy stuff with physics.

And for crying out loud. If you have to sacrifice a tiny bit of the native resolution to make the actual gameplay experience better, then that is what you do. The actual difference in upscaled resolution compared to native resolution isn't that big anyway.

Yes there is plenty of RAM but we have no idea how good the CPU is at processing more than 16 cars. Concentrating that processing power on calculating more complex physics is what most people will prefer over amount of cars on one track imo.

I think your underestimating how much processing power "some more fancy stuff with physics" takes. There is all kinds of "stuff" going on that no other race game has done on the console all at once.
