You guys have to realise that the PS3 managed 720P, 60FPS games with 16 cars on track, dynamic time and weather as well as all kinds of cute & fuzzy physics.

Certainly wasn't a solid 60FPS.

Interesting, as I asked here, they said pcars needs high end components. And it has problems with amd cpu and gpu.

I get an old Intel q9400 cpu from a friend, 8 gb ram, mainboard and was thinking to buy an radeon 280x.

But I have time till October so maybe stuff will get cheaper.
Okay, your CPU might be an issue here indeed. If you're going to buy the Radeon 280x you're good to go.

The 16 car thing isn't a surprise at all. Once again, seems like people are misjudging the power of consoles pretty greatly.

With 16 cars on track, it may, may, be possible for the game to hit 1080p 60FPS though which would be fantastic news. I know SMS said they are aiming for that but to be honest that means nothing. TLOU Remastered edition was always said to be 'aiming' for 60FPS and it's releasing with 30FPS.

How many games last gen had 16 cars on track? Alot. GT6 on ancient PS3 hardware was 1440x1080 and 60fps. Its unreasonable to expect on PS4 20 or 24 cars and full 1080p? GT4 was 720x480p and 6 cars on track. GT5 was 1280x1080p and 16 cars on track.

We arent to expect another jump - why?

These new console are basically like me taking a dual core 2.4 ghz pc with 4 gb of ram and onboard graphics, upgrading it to 6 gb of ram and a 6850 gpu and calling it a next gen pc. While it may be an upgrade from what I had, if I went around saying its capable of next gen gaming people would call me crazy. Yet the consoles did it and now everyone wants to blame the developers because they aren't seeing next gen games, only dumbed down pc graphics so that the devs (Ubisoft) can say "see it looks just as good on console as it does on pc.

So many PC owners who buy Project Cars are going to be playing with 8 or 12 cars on screen? Because most dont have PCs as powerful as the PS4.

50% of PC users still use dual core processors. 60% only have 1GB or less of video memory. Only 38% Have 1080p or higher resolution monitors.

Explain to me how the PS4 version of Battlefield 4 matches the PC version in every way in terms of gameplay (both have 64 players and 64 player maps) while having respectable visuals when compared to 'ultra' settings on the very best PCs?

This is a case of a developer running out of talent, not the hardware running out of power.

For a PC to run 55 cars, that means you need 4x the power of the PS4, right? Even a $499 Radeon 290x wouldnt be enough.

Anyways, looks like Im done with Project CARS if its just 16 cars on track. If I want to play a fancy looking game that puts visuals ahead of gameplay, I'll go play Gran Turismo.

I have been saying it for months, but basically yeah. On the pc though you will be able to choose between grid size or eye candy. Its going to take a very high end pc to max out Pcars on pc.

Does it have to be just about the grid size and racing? What's wrong with simply enjoying all the cars on the amazing tracks in time trial, or with friends online?
I know this this is a game heavily based on the racing aspect (community assisted RACING simulator), but there's a million other ways to enjoy it. Also you say you won't buy PCARS because it is only 16 cars on track, yet you own Gran Turismo, so what's the problem?

Hahah funny, neither sms confirmed that we will have 16 cars on ps4 and the game ist is still 6 months away. Lot of things can happen. Also we are on the beginning of next gen. As I know, naughty dog had found a way to get way more out of the ps4 and they will share this with other developers to give them the chance to make their games better on ps4.

I would say, calm down, enjoy the summer and be patient...

To be honest I don't mind 16 cars in multiplayer, for spec racing 16 cars is plentiful. However, I DO mind when it comes to multi-class racing.

I remember doing the TORA 24 hours of LeMans last year, it was a full lobby (Host +15 cars) and throughout all of my 3 two hour stints, with only 16 cars at lemans the field was so spread out I was basically hot lapping the whole 2 hours, and in my other stint, and in my other stint. It really got boring, the Last thing I want is for PCARS to have Endurance racing circuits, endurance racing cars, but when it comes to the race itself its boring as 🤬.

There are currently TT leaderboards, so it's guaranteed to be in the final game. As for seasonal events, I'm not sure. There have been car/track combination events in the Time Trial section, so it may be in the final game.

GT5 24 hours of Le Mans and Nurburgring, those had to be the most boring races I have ever played in my entire life. Having only 15 cars to compete with on a track that size is not fun at all, especially if they are different classes.

Yeah, the one I did was on Forza 4. Really not fun, especially when you only have 6 or 7 other cars in your class to race against on a 8 mile circuit

Bascally if you want to play racing Sims properly buy a PC

A $400 PC won't exceed what the 2 consoles can do. 64 cars on a budget PC will play worse than on a console. I have no desire whatsoever to spend $2000 on a computer that will ONLY be used for playing games. Most of my "computing" is done on my iPhone and iPad. My $300 laptop is rarely used. These 2 consoles are supposed to have PC architecture, not having a larger grid than 16 is a copout.

They do have PC architecture, it doesn't mean they have super powerful PC architecture despite what the manufactures would have you believe. The GPU is still nothing special compared to modern PC cards, 8GB of RAM is also the norm these days in PC gaming.

You expect nothing from an $400 pc but you expect a lot from an $400 console? Hahah some people...

A $400 PC is sold for a profit, whereas a $400 console is sold for a loss. You get more bang for your buck with a console, so it's right to expect more from a console than from a PC in the same price range.

Still you can't expect from an $400 console to run 1080p 60fps ultra settings with a grid of 64... You almost need an $800 graphics card for this.

Again, I'd like to point out that the PS3 manages graphics close to the best looking PC games, dispite old hardware and a pathetic amount of RAM. Evidently, you can expect a lot more out of a console, than you can a PC with similiar specs.

Yep, it's amazing what a developer can do with hardware when they can write software specifically to get the most out of that one system as opposed to a default environment like varying desktop PCs. You can optimise it much more.

After I read the latest news about GT7 I am glad that we will have Project CARS and Assetto Corsa on PS4!👍

PS2 cars on PS4, only on Playstation :scared: really I own all GT games and play since ps1 but really it's time for a new breath. Project cars can't come soon enough.

At some point it's time to let your loved kids (standard cars) go and start from scratch...

I know now comes the comment 'don't drive them' but really, will we have those last last gen cars on ps7 too? Then with 2500 cars...

I am more happy with those awesome 35 lovely cars in Assetto corsa with their own physics and characters than with those 1200 cars in gt6 where the physics are based on the inputted car specs.

Fantasy conversation at SMS.

Game Designer: Mr. Bell, do you realize that we can fit 64 cars on the PS4 version of the game at a fully stable 1080P/60fps? I can get it done this afternoon if you like.

Ian Bell: Nah, let's just play golf.

If it was possible to fit 64 cars in without sacrificing something else, don't you think they would just do it? In other works, if it can be done, what possible logic would there be for not doing it? Why would they not want that huge marketing edge?

I think it's only a rumor, because the devs of AC posted a picture of a PS4 dev kit. But I hope it does come out on PS4, because I'd much rather have it on console.

Yeah, I remember seeing a picture of a dev kit posted by someone involved with AC. I was hoping something formally had been announced, but I have yet to see anything.
