I don't get it. What's to get excited about? Wasn't it obvious that a full car list would come at some point?

EDIT: major facepalm on my part... I misread that majorly. I originally thought it said that "the" full car list would appear at one point, as in referring to every car that runs under the WEC... Sorry about that guys, time to point and laugh lol

I havn't visited this thread in about 100 pages. I'm curious if I go back a bit in the thread if anyone posted any decent E3 interviews about this game? I know the PS4 version was on the show floor, but all I was ever able to find was like 2 minute videos showing a bit of gameplay. No info, no interviews........none of the major sites had any coverage on the game.

But I'll tell you what. One thing I noticed from the couple gameplay videos I saw of the PS4 version, is that one of my greatest fears for the game are indeed coming to fruition. This game, on PC......and probably on consoles too if you're using a wheel may indeed be fantastic. But playing with a controller.......which people were doing at E3 it seems......it's still got that super-floaty steering that was featured so prominently in SHIFT2. Luckily I didn't notice the magnetic grass/barriers......they seem to be gone. But honestly, the handling with a controller is still rediculously floaty just like Shift2. Obviously it was a new player, but it was that same look.

Funny why the console versions haven't gotten all that much coverage so far.

Floaty handling you say? Maybe the controls weren't tweaked properly in the E3 demo. Let's wait for a full review.

Well, here comes my embarrassment haha. My bad

via their facebook page:

I really hope that we will be able to on Consoles at some point... If not then I'll be thoroughly disappointed (via league racing)

No Livery Editor on consoles? :odd:

I'm really on the boat here... what's 4k exactly.. and how will it make gaming better?

via wiki

4K resolution is a generic term for display devices or content having horizontal resolution on the order of 4,000 pixels.[1] Several 4K resolutions exist in the fields of digital television and digital cinematography. In the movie projection industry, Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI) is the dominant 4K standard.

How does one feel "floaty" handling on a controller...at a game show...with no sound?

Why would one need sound to see floaty handling? Well on SMS's last game, Shift2 Unleashed, the floaty handling was only an issue on consoles with controllers. I never tried S2U with a wheel on PC or consoles myself, but from what I've heard from people here and on other forum sites who did play Shift2 with a wheel, the "floaty" handling wasn't an issue at all.

By floaty handling, what I mean is all the cars have the handling characteristics of a 72 Eldorado convertible on a slolem. Where just trying to get the cars to go in a straight line is a chore. The car is just rediculously bouncing back and forth in reaction to the non-stop counter steering you're having to do to counter the car's weight bouncing back and forth. It's like this vicious circle you're going through just to try and go in a straight line after a corner. It's plain to see in all the E3 videos, and in the two videos Marqa posted both of the reviewers (hey, how come those two guys don't work together anymore?.......aww they both look lonely for each other now) write off the bad handling as them not being used to playing with a controller. It's not that. There's an issue.......the same issue Shift 2 had.

I'm pretty sure while it feels/looks like floaty steering, it probably has something to do with some kind of input lag in their engine for controllers, or perhaps it's just on their console code if it's not an issue on PC with a controller. It was the same exact thing in Shift2, so I feel it's something simple SMS is just missing, and don't know they're doing wrong. This is why I sent them multiple emails begging them to cut a deal with Sony to allow PS3 gamers to get in on the funding program through PSN just for this reason. There is no better user-base to get feedback from on getting "controller-handling feel" right in a racing game.......which was SMS's biggest problem imo.

The money is on consoles. I know it's not all about money, but.......it IS. And the vast majority of console racers use a controller. So unless they want to be giving away another game for free on Plus a month after launch to at least make a few bucks back from Sony, they really need to get the controller input lag or "floaty handling" as I call it, sorted out in the next month or 2 before launch.

A great sim should handle well through any gaming peripheral. Whether they've gotten the handling right or not at this point, is mere speculation. It's still in the testing phases.

I'd say wait for a demo or a full review before writing it off.

Looks like some sort of wheel announcment next week.

Project CARS ‏@WMDCars 1m
@Hector_Cancino: @WMDCars @Vomuzi On PS4, what wheel?” <- Stay tuned next week :-)

Was going to post this as well. Better they announce what we want to hear or I upgrade my pc. Won't pay another 500€ only for a wheel with ps4 support. That is modern rubbing and nobody should support this.

I already sold my Fanatec gt3 and bought an gt2 only to be able to play forza on x360. And now it is useless again on xbone.

Especially fanatec should do anything they can to make their wheels work on ps4 because a lot of people paid a lot of money for their premium wheels.

Well, to be fair, this game is well beyond the testing phases. It's probably got 2 months till Gold, if that. So this should be straightened out by now (pun intended since it's so hard to get the cars to go straight). And for sure. I'm not writing the game off at all. As of right now I've got it pre-ordered. But I will say that if the demo I've heard will release pre-launch handles with a controller like Shift2.....which is what I see in the E3 videos of the PS4 version, I will be cancelling my pre-order that day and will consider a later purchase if they fix it through updates.

The E3 incident was a bug, and it caused some comotion over at WMD. We in the software making trade often refere to this as the demo effect. (Happend to me twice, on stage, with an audience. (Contemplated changing career both times))

I would characterize Shift 2 Unleashed as having wacky suspension modelling, problems with weight transfer (possibly only because of the suspension modelling), awkward oversteer dynamics, and awful default settings for the advanced control options and tuning setups, but I wouldn't call it "floaty handling."

For reference, I would define "floaty handling" as when the tire model doesn't provide clear feedback on traction, the suspension modelling is muted or "flat", or when steering causes the car to pivot around in a distracting, disconnected-looking way. More hovercraft than bobblehead. All things considered, I thought S2U was fairly solid (only after you dial all of the settings in!). It seemed like a simulator that got buried beneath a few bungles. I'm sure the modding community for the PC version would agree.

The steering animation was totally screwed, and I'm suprised the two YouTube hosts and others didn't pick up on it. WMD members say it involved cockpit/camera settings, possibly under-the-hood values that got messed up. I believe the E3 PS4 footage conveys next to nothing about how the game actually drives.

From what I understand, the E3 build wasn't even up-to-date at the time it was shown, regardless of the state the game is in now.

Wait a minute - Project Cars got picked up by Namco? I know I'm a week late to the news but that's just depressing. I don't think they could have found a more anemic partner in the industry. Well...godspeed SMS.

Hopefully finally the answer we've all been waiting for. And hopefully no reason for dissappointment...

I'd love to share your optimism gents but I can't see Fanatecs and Logitech support.

Not picked up. They are responsible for making sure the game gets to the shops and nothing more. They are not a publisher like EA was for the Shift games.

Well, if you guys are saying it handles like S2, I hope they sort that out. I did not like the control/physics in S2 all that much, even after making countless controller tweaks.

All of this is still speculation, based on what we've seen on the internet. How many of you are playing the PC version? When is the official demo coming out?

Give SMS a chance, and wait for full game reviews!

It handles nothing like S2. I can't quite see where "you guys" are saying that :)

Many of us here are playing the PC version and do not have to speculate... The official release is set for November.
