Oh sweet. :D And it won't be any dodgy GT AI, so hopefully we'll be able to trust him with the car a little more :boggled:

So yes, let's hope this achievement can be unlocked with AI stints. Gonna be a loooong weekend otherwise.

@RoccoTTS, sadly the car that you race in game won't show your race number or flag in game.

@bleeder, I think it all has to be human controlled (I'm not 100% sure, I'll try and found out for you).
Woah woah woah, wait a second here. So it asks you for the number you want and doesn't even put it on the car? What about online races where people do leagues? Can't put numbers on cars either there?

That's a little frustrating.

Honestly I don't even know why it asks for that number cause from what I can tell it does nothing. Maybe it's planned to do something with it later? I've only played a little of career, so can be sure. This could be a bug though too. Maybe someone else can comment.

So, kind of generally speaking, because I'm not an expert...

Is Project Cars going to be the console sim that we all, whichever camp we're in, wish that GT and Forza were?

Is it going to be that large amount better than both of them?

Genuine question. Regardless, I'm looking forward to it for my X1

That would be very strange if they ask your car number and don't do anything with it.

Even though it is something as small as that, a number. It is a huge part of motorsport. If we cant pick our numbers online let alone careers then I will be slightly upset by that.

I think that is a huge oversight.

i can understand the desire to have your own number offline, but there's a chance you'll end up racing someone else online with the same number as you, which i guess makes it somewhat unrealistic. perhaps that's a reason?

I agree with you for online racing, but in career mode they ask your car number.

To be honest, this whole part about car numbers is a bit underdesigned. They should have come up with a clever system that allows to modify the number and driver name on existing liveries but unfortunately there isnt, so putting in your name and number will be a bit pointless, apart from menus.

Oh well, it cant be all perfect the first time round, can it. :boggled:

It's not a big deal for me, but it is just a bit odd.

Well what's the point of having the option in the first place if it doesn't even work.

Just asking, not being difficult. I think that is a huge oversight by SMS and they should be on that.

It took the GT series long enough to implement it. While it would have been good to be able to use the feature, it's not a deal breaker. You can still personalise the car by painting it (can't you?).

I dont know whats the point, I didnt design the UI. But you can bet your favorite pair of socks that SMS is aware that this status quo is less then ideal. It comes down to time and budget: Said clever system I mentioned would have been quite a job to code + ui work + bug testing... So, yeah.

Yes it will be what those games should be because of 2 simple facts.

1. The developer cares about the opinion of the community.

2. The developer cares about their own reputation.

It is a hardcore sim that looks very pretty and this style of game hasn't been tried before on consoles. So if you are missing proper racing and the deep gameplay a sim provides, this will be "better". If you have no patience to work on your skills, you could also end up using all driving aids, lower the AI, button mash your way through and lose interest after a few hours. It all depends.

How is the pit strategy coming along? I have yet to see things like tire wear and refuels come into play. Is that stuff still being worked on? Also haven't seen a pitstop since about build 900.

Tire wear and fuel consumption is being worked on right now, I'm one of the few people "bugging" devs to get it right, so we will see what happens.

Pit stop animations are not shown at the moment as I suspect they are being tweaked behind the scenes. At least that's my hope.

Well that's not very promising.
I'm not going to sugar coat anything for you guys. It is what it is at the moment. Like any game in development, things change on a daily basis. Some things may get improved with patches later too. Games that have these things sorted (like iRacing) took a loooong time to get there and most of those games are PC only, so don't expect perfection with this initial release.

Take 55 Million € off GT5 budget, try to imagine where it would have ended doing that before you judge things too sharply. It's not an excuse, it's the truth. Pcars is an indie development project.

And still it will wipe it's ass with *** where it matters.

edit,

then take one million more off.. just to be on the safe side. A million € is nothing, right?

Depends on what you want out of a particular game, what you're looking for. No game can appeal to everyone and no game can scratch every itch...at least no game yet released. So what are you looking for?

Goes to show what a waste of resources that franchise has become, all they do is copy paste stuff over and there is almost 0 innovation regarding gameplay features...

If you ask me my answer would be yes. I believe so. BUT!

The goal is not to beat these famous competitors, the goal is to give you as a driver an experience that a real driver would get. Pcars is not trying to compete with the other games, it's trying to simulate the real thing. In other words, comparing to any game is useless. Compare to real world or not at all.
