Correct me if I'm wrong but that isnt the full achievement list - what happened to the round the clock and never forget Sprengler ones (from memory lol, they may be wrong and there may be more)

Correct, thought I noticed one or two missing from that list

If you ask me my answer would be yes. I believe so. BUT!

The goal is not to beat these famous competitors, the goal is to give you as a driver an experience that a real driver would get. Pcars is not trying to compete with the other games, it's trying to simulate the real thing. In other words, comparing to any game is useless. Compare to real world or not at all.

I agree.

I see a lot of the "Project CARS will be the Forza Motorsport/Grand Turismo killer" lines in the media. Lines to which every fan of any of the mentioned titles will react.
Personally I don't think these lines nor the reactions are necessary. Forza and GT are great games in their own right with the gameplay they wish to offer. Project CARS will just be different and try to be a different title with different goals. Meaning that the game is not made to beat the others, but the game is there as a supplement to fill the holes that the others have left.

Project CARS has been developed in such a way to try to simulate the real life cars as well as possible (within time frame, dev budget, team size, etc).
Due to this Slightly Mad Studios really had to hammer out of us our eagerness to compare the physics to that which we have known before in our previous beloved games. They did not want us to compare it to any game, but they rather wished we would dive into technical documents and watch real life footage to deduct the cars behavior and try to simulate it. For as far as available/accessable of course.

In short Project CARS is a game offering a different gameplay with a sports game style career and true to life (as possible) physics. With real sounds taken from the real cars by the famous Greg Hill and Stephen Baysted and so on.
It is simply a sim of a different kind than all the 'console sims' previously released, and thus it can't compete and only supplement as a different breed of racer.

They are still there, they just have a different name.

Looking at the trophy list what are the Accolades? How will I be able to get them?

They are part of the career and will be introduced when you start your career.

To be honest, this whole part about car numbers is a bit underdesigned. They should have come up with a clever system that allows to modify the number and driver name on existing liveries but unfortunately there isnt, so putting in your name and number will be a bit pointless, apart from menus.

Oh well, it cant be all perfect the first time round, can it. :boggled:
But if there is to be a livery editor, doesn't that mean that we could create our own liveries with our own number and even have our name on the window glass?

There is no livery creator on consoles. On PC, you can paint your car via templates with photoshop, so you can have your name and number on the car, no problem.

But that only applies for online racing or quick race weekends. In career, the issue is different, since you choose a team to sign your contract with, so the livery of the car is predestined. So unfortunately in career, you wont have your number or your name on your car. Like I said, that detail aspect of the career is a bit lacking, unfortunately.

It's a bit of an oversight, but until they put in a system for customised driver numbers (like GT6's) then it's just something to live with.

I really couldn't care less tbh. I wanna race with my #36, but at the end of the day I'm just happy I can choose a livery on my race car... who'd have thought it...

(Man GT keeps getting pushed further and further down the grid)

To be honest in most race series your cars number is decided on my by position in the last season or your rally seed. driver numbers were not common until recently.

Yeah it can be overlooked...only really matters in F1, Indycar and stockcars. Otherwise it'd only matter if you could start up your own team in the game. And since there's no livery editor (for us console guys anyway :indiff: ), it's moot point.

Well, I think if the game works trough a contract system with the teams to progress, the livery of a car and the suit drivers is something that the team chooces. IMO I don't care if this not be customizable, as the same for the number, not every racing competition allows to choosing them.

But, the only part when the driver can customize is the helmet I think. And would be a nice touch if something selectable on the design of this was present. Nothing trascendental but a nice touch.

Good question, what's the word on helmets?

Well, your driver network profile certainly has an icon representing you. Default atm is a stylized, black head in front of a yellow square. There is also a "coming soon" tab present at the ingame driver network profile page...some might be able to draw conclusions from that fact ;-)

Maybe that means you can just input a driver's name and nationality though :D

Does anyone know wether there is going to be any options in pit stops to change aero, brake vent size or brake pressure.

And can you change brake bias on the fly.

Cheers

Brake bias, anti roll bars and driving aids can be changed on the fly. In the pit stop menu, you can choose how much fuel to be added and the tire compound as well as the tire pressure for each corner. Changing tires can also be skipped altogehter.

Thank you but is there no aero change possibility for longer races would be very useful
I've done some of the higher tiers and haven't found the need to adjust it mid race. Eve. In the wet as you just alter your style a bit.

If only SMS had copied the team management aspect of the original GRID, with a simple pattern/color editor for your team livery and sponsors to unlock. Maybe next time?

games finally coming along. really hope there are no more delays.quick question is there going to be team leaderboards .

No one has any answers yet for console leaderboards, but i think its going to be limited compared to PC.
Witch is a little disheartening, but we will have to wait and see.

Sorry for asking a potentially dumb question but what are team leaderboards? You mean in career mode during a championship?

there used to be a site called nfsstats for the games shift and shift unleashed .which used leaderboard times .for hotlaps and career mode on ps3 and xbox .there were solo leaderboards and also team leader boards.a lot of the fast runners were usaully in teams example OTS .FIRE .GRT .BRT .RC .ect ect many more .they used to combine team members placing in hot laps. add their rankings . on each track to create team leaderboards . career leaderboards were great in shift (although career times were all screwed up in the game itself on unleashed)

I see, thanks for the explanation. There is no such thing in pcars though and I dont think I ve seen that planned for a post-release update.

i am sure this was asked many times, and is annoying to be posted, but could not find any answers, tought maybe insider or someone knows this: why is there no pre order possibility for the limited edition of PCars for PC or PS4 in the USA?

We as WMD members don't have information on that. Marketing, Distribution and Packaging is handled by Bandai Namco America. At the moment, only the modified car pack has been announced as a pre order bonus.

I can't imagine that north american customers won't get access to the 5 limited edition cars. I'm sure there will be an offer on steam/xbox live/psn soon.

If you want the steel case and the book that comes with the LE, i guess you have to import from Europe after release.

EDIT: From the official homepage

DIGITAL PRE-PURCHASE AVAILABLE NOW!
Project CARS is currently available to pre-purchase on Steam! Grab the Digital Edition right now that includes both the Limited Edition Car Pack and Modified Car Pack!

I think I read somewhere that the old Hockenheim circuit will be included. But is this part of the release game on April 2nd or is it a later update.

On a personal preference I would love to see Macau included.
