so now i've got a big Project CARS thumbnail staring at me on my PS4 home screen with an agonizing 09:53:45 counting down...

almost can't believe it! i had my last go on Driveclub last night, had a small ceremony, said my farewells, put it out to pasture. it served me well and now makes a nice handy coaster!

i wil. no, i have to! :) i hope the confirmation email will be send till 8pm. this would be a relief. keep me posted if you receive one, please. later.
Got dispatch confirmation email for my LE today at 12:26pm, but I'm a bit annoyed that Amazon send out the standard version one day early and didn't bother to do the same with the LE.
If you forked out more money for the LE you shouldn't be treated worse.

It wasn't allowed by Namco Bandai too.

And yes, we have already seen the performance boost, up to 40% more fps from one day to another. EG analysed the worst case scenarios and even they are now staple (there may be a short drop with full grid and rain at night) but never under 50fps so without a tech analysis, noone will ever notice this. The processors in both consoles manage a very stable 60fps now. This is an achievement you can't honour enough if you compare it to Turn 10's Forza which also runs at 60 fps but with only 12 cars on track and no night/weather effects.

Don't worry, it will run smooth and look great on consoles.

What's happened here then?

@Zakspeed_TV Go to the pCARS store page and click download? That's what I had to do even though I'd set it to auto.

Am gona have to go back home and check this now

Do you know how long the download took mate?

when i turned my PS4 on earlier it had only just started the download. main game took about 45 mins, the D1P took perhaps 10. if i hadn't gone for fibre BB i think i'd still be waiting tomorrow night.

EDIT: seems like i was mistaken. i have no idea what that 45 mins download was because now it says 64mins left for main game. update file and preorder packs installed already though.

EDIT 2: and now it says 3 hours left!

Spent some time playing it on PS4, framdrops are very prominent at packed races aswell in rain. And motion blur is removed in all views.
did some test on Driveclub's motion blur last night. definitely there on trackside objects such as the flags and so on. it's actually everywhere. it's probably just a bit more noticeable in 60fps as opposed to 30 but if anyone who has played that game has not really noticed the blur effect there, they probably won't be too distracted by pCARS' blur either.

Will have to judge for myself how bad the drops actually are (just playing, not stress testing). Still glad that I've chosen the PS4 version. Native resolution, better framerate - that's all I need. Could do without the AA method though.

Guys, I think I'M disappointed with Project Car, because, no Multi-Car racing?!? I saw a video of the final version that were all BMW gt3 on the track... no SLS, R8's...
And no LMP1 and GT's on the same race? WTF?

So they're saying that career races will not feature more than 20 cars on track??
I hope this doesn't account for the multiclass series...

so on console you should stick with 20 cars for a consistent frame rate...really poor. I would prefer a cap of 20 cars at 60fps instead...

Wrong.
GT3 races can have all GT3 cars on track (career and quick race).
Endurance series have LMP1, LMP2 and GT3 cars (not sure about GT4) on track and more than 35 cars at the same time.

Unfortunately having many cars on the screen + weather is very hard on any system. I don't expect it to be any different on pc other than being able to easily adjust settings to accomodate it. When the cars string out a bit I'm sure it'll be just fine.

I just opened up Steam thinking to check in case the game was ready and a window popped up saying "Project Cars downloading - 99%". When it finished another message game up - "Still encrypted!!".:mad:

very impressive IMO,

this is a stress test and i doubt you will play with 40 cars on track whilst chucking it down... Great work SMS!!!
I think your right. Most won't play that way.

Whilst it's a shame about the tearing etc it's still an impressive achievement. Shouldn't be advertised as a 60fps title though. Tbf im not sure if that is advertised at all lol.

You do realise that if forza 5 had weather and 45 cars on the grid it would be getting the same frame rate?

Hence, it is a 60fps title

Given the specs of the consoles, I can't see it being possible to achieve 60 fps with huge grids and weather on unless someone comes up with a currently unknown trick or optimization that revolutionizes gaming as we know it.
