Not going to lie,
jumped the lights in my first race because I didn't know it would let me!

Few thoughts:
  • 60FPS is beautiful, ghosting is a bit annoying but I'll get used to it
  • Best car is the Lotus F1 classic for sure
  • GT6 Willow actually looks better than pCARS Willow in my opinion
  • I no longer need any other PS4 game.

yeah...I'd rather have a 20 car grid than 40 and sloppy frame rate....but I will keep my final thoughts to myself until I have played the game tomorrow...
Of course, we'll all play the game according to what suits us best. Personally I'd rather have the option of large grids even if it's a struggle on the system to keep up when the cars are bunched up, or weather is heavy etc. It makes no sense to me to just arbitrarily say, "ok we're capped at 16 or 20 because anything higher is going to drop below 60 fps", when the individual player can just impose the limit on himself and his own gameplay. It one of the glorious things about the game compared to most previous console games, a plethora of options.

I wish I lived in Britain...or Scotland... :(

Seems were getting a slider to turn the ghosting off

People looking for a big field of cars with rain my want to try a dry start with weather turning worse as the race goes on. At least the field of cars should have settled into a single spread out file and will have less impact on frame rate.

That's what I will try in custom races. To be fair the whole 30+cars dynamic time and weather with 60fps sounded far fetched at the beginning to me but I held off commenting till figures were provided.

Saying all that I'm not trying to sound negative in the game. I really like SMS approach and at least they have provided what seems like a true single player experience. Something Sorely lacking in many of today's grinding to unlock cars approach many take.

Looking forward to playing.

This is me literally everytime I come into this forum thread... (I have to wait until friday to finally play it)

But you will get shimmer in return for it. It's the way the PS4 AA system works. Well, at least that way you can decide what's worse.
I think I'd go for less shimmer as I feel it stops the world looking real if the AA is not effective. I read a Pixar interview where they said they anti alias the **** out of everything. a little flicker or jagged edge would remind viewers they're looking at CGI.

but having said that, if shimmer is replaced by tearing I wouldn't know what to think.

I saw you calling it 60fps, without provisos, and making excuses for why the game should be labelled as 60fps compared to FM5, which actually does manage to maintain damn near 60fps in all conditions.

I saw you coming back at someone who pointed out that it was only 60fps sometimes.

It's a lie of omission. You can't just say "it's 60fps" and leave it there when you know that people will assume that means a reasonably consistent 60 under all conditions.

If you agree that we shouldn't lie about it, then let's label it like Gran Turismo should have been labelled. 60fps most of the time in normal gameplay, with noticeable dips when there is major weather or large amounts of cars on the screen, and major dips when there is both.

Agreed. I'm on PC too, and I'll be doing the same.

I actually like that they optimised it for career mode fields, but left in the option for really big grids on console with the associated performance drop if the player wants. They could have just capped fields at 20 on console and been done with it.
A slight misunderstanding there.
When I replied to spaghetti earlier saying "you don't see my point", my point wasn't "it's 60fps now agree with me" I was referring to what I was saying about other games struggling if under the same conditions. My problem wasn't that he was saying it wasn't 60fps constantly (which is perfectly correct), it was that it seemed he was criticising the game for not being constantly 60fps. In regards to my comment "hence, 60 fps", at the time I was thinking in terms of the example you, funnily enough, brought up, the ps3 gt games (as in if they get titled as 60fps PCARS deserves to as well as they suffer the same drops). I do absolutely agree with you that these games shouldn't be labelled super duper immaculate 100% 60fps, I just clearly worded it wrong.

Oddly of all the examples you could have used you picked the one of the most solid 60fps title out there in console land lol.

I also saw the backlash to DF preview on an older build. I saw a member claim that the worst case scenario was full grid weather at night causing the game to drop to only 50fps in rare circumstances and not noticeable in play.

For what it's worth I think they have done a Stella job from what I can see. But please don't say it's a 60fps in the traditional sense.

I'll live with it and support it but I'll also say what I see.

Say if any of you guys are going to try out the Caterham R500... increase tyre pressures to 1.7 bar front and 1.6 bar rear, plus for wheel users... set the brake pressure to 100%. Alternatively you could increase the rake by increasing the rear ride height by 10mm (sets a 30mm rake with 115mm (front) ground clearance), and play with brake bias a bit.

Just tried it a bit just now for the fun of it. I thought the default was a bit understeering, so was playing around a bit with it all. The tyre pressures are from the Caterham handbook btw. :)

Now it's time for a coffee break with my Project CARS mug. :)

So after much thinking I have decided to use Road America for my Hot Laps thing on PCars when I decide to buy it
I call RA my "home" track as I live 40 minutes away and have had a few cars on the track IRL. But, I prefer faster cars on this track, usually GT3 and faster. For the slower cars I usually use Laguna Seca or Oulton Park - GT3 and slower.

Otherwise Nordschleife for most anything!

I like RA, I use it alot on GTR2. Huge straights for top end testing and sharp corners and tough braking points to test handling and brakes. Awesome track.

That is strange. I received my message meanwhile, was already this morning.

It also depends on where you live I think. My friends in the middle of Bayern (Bavaria) did get the email this morning. But as I live on the border to Luxenbourg, I get my Amazon orders from there. I only live 80 km away from their logistic centre so I'm used to late emails.

Edit: @PRO_TOO I just got the mail. Will arrive tomorrow (when I'm not at home.. :D)
