I personally wish to have a more beginner friendly, slower kart without a shifter. Kart racing is pure stress for me otherwise.

GSCE add 4 cycle karts a couple of months ago. Simply awesome. Should be on SMS's to do list as that is the beginning for most karters.

G27 + pc here. I tried the 125 shifter for the first time yesterday and was expecting to be disappointed after reading some of the feedback here. I raced karts at a pretty high level back in the day so I do have some real life experience. Took me about an hour to get comfortable and really feel what was going on with the kart but once I got dialed in I thought the feel and handling of the karts was excellent. I tried 3 different tracks and it's just my opinion but Glencairn is more of a rental type track you see at the side of the highway as no one in their right mind would take a shifter kart over bumps and rises like that. Summerton and Greenwood (based on the Spa karting facility) seem more like proper kart tracks to me.

The karts need to be pushed hard and driven at the limit to really perform. I was able to powerslide just like a real kart would but it requires you to really push the kart otherwise you are transitioning between under and oversteer all the time. I really, really enjoyed lapping at both Summerton and Greenwood and was able to post up very consistent times once I got the hang of it. They felt right too. Snappy steering, very responsive, good weight to the wheel etc.

If you are using a wheel I suggest you keep at it, and really push the karts hard. FFB setup is important and a bit of tuning to induce more oversteer is important too. Lower front tire pressure, a bit of sway bar adjustment, etc.

This and nothing else. I also have a lot of karting experience and they feel great. Just because you driven some rental kart somewhere it doesnt mean you know how a kart feels like. Those shifters are beasts and need to pushed hard to get them performing in the reallife its a completly diffrent feeling from a rental kart. Were you can just flat out all the time get not real tyre Temp or something like that. I just needed to turn the wheelsettings a bit and the karts were really really good. Best in every sim i played so far miles ahead

Hi all :D I'm struggling to find the point of having selectable liveries in my garage, unless its just for photo mode?

In career, of course you get the team livery. I get that. However, if I select a livery in my garage and then go to do a quick race or practice session, the garage livery hasn't stuck and I can't see if there's an option to choose it in quick race or practice

Am I being dense? :ouch:

You have to select the livery via my garage in the quick race/practice vehicle selection too. I mean in quick race or practice mode, go to the vehicle selection, then to your garage from there and select your car again and then the livery.

Yeah I know, incredibly tedious but it is what it is, for now. Enough people have mentioned how badly designed this is, now its the turn of the people responsible for the UI to do something about it and improve the situation.
 
Just wondering, I set a time on one of the community challenges but every time I select 'find me' it says I don't have a time on the leaderboard?

Do the leaderboards only show a certain amount of times(such as top 250)?

I was wondering this, 2 of the events I am no longer showing on even tho I've done them and registered times.
 
I'm sorry if this has been asked, but why do my cars keep stalling out? I've only raced the Shifter Karts and an Escort for a test, and both just shut down randomly. I'm using a controller and manual transmission and the game says the clutch is automatic. I can't figure it out. I feel like there's something obvious, but I'm lost.
 
It would be nice to compare the event times of you friends (like seasonals in GT6)
none of my friends are in the top 500 but it would be awesome to see who's fastest.

How can I downlod ghosts to learn from the pros?! In free practice it isn't possible? In time trail only?

Btw: the record time showing for a track doesn't show the car right?! Only user name and time.
 
Sohow do I actually access the modified cars? Went to PlayStation store through pcars menu, downloaded and says installed.... Where are the cars at though?
 
Nothing... Tried Lyman also (all through main menu of pcars where it says PS store, then I did redeem code, put code in from pre order receipt)

Headed home now myself. Have to go to the gym first then GameStop on the way home! I called walking to the train to confirm they got my copy in stock. Game on! I'll be adding some people here as I will need new friends to race with.

At the moment (fix is on the way), there are some things you have to assign, like handbrake etc. Very annoying bug. My advice: Reset controls to default, remember which functions used those buttons you want to use for shifting and assign them to buttons you dont need (like swiping the touchpad).
 
What's with the bumper cars in online? Am I just so unlucky, or do you get such "joy" from online races as well? Been mostly racing in career mode so far, but decided to try out some online races today, it was terrible.

Was driving at Monza, got the pole in qualy, and off to a great start in the race, up to the first chicane, mid way through I get hit from the side with full speed (dude was aiming for me because he went over the grass and did not break at all), I get thrown over the second part of the chicane and as a reward I get hit with a 5 sec penalty for cutting the corner... I mean WTF? So this game literally has no flag system in place to deal with such stupidity? Another example: I'm breaking into a corner and I get slammed from behind, I get thrown out while the dude who hit me stays on track. Third one, dude who cut a corner got hit with that reduced speed 5 sec penalty, what did he do when I came flying past him... he turned into me and knocked me off track. The list just goes on and on... I managed to have ONE clean race, at Spa where I got a great start and managed to get clear of contact in Les Combes, lucky it's very technical after that so I got a nice gap when I could finally breathe normally, and went to finish in P1. I even breaked super late on a bunch of occasions to try and avoid contact, of course to no avail, idiot behind just doesn't break and smacks into you.

Will stay clear of online until some sort of flag system is in place, if it doesn't happen online will remain a no-go to me. :/

Easy: The rightmost column in the leaderboard is the one for ghosts. If there is a symbol like a gated shifter mixed with sound waves, you can load a ghost from that time. To access, press R1, then scroll to the ghost you want to load and press Triangle. Car is written directly under the name of the player who set the time.

Only in time trial, though.

I'm not surprised if you chose to gamble with open lobby. I would think it's like GT6 where your best bet is private league/club.

Check your control setup for ignition. If you hit it while driving it will shut the car off.
