I gave the Sauber a try yesterday and it actually kind of pissed me off how easy it was to drive. Meanwhile the Clio Cup car has hilarious amounts of lift-off oversteer that's always impossible to correct. :irked:
I think I posted some videos of the real life Clio Cup. Those cars spin a lot with lift off oversteer. So, maybe it's too realistic for PC1.

Is this true of all cars?

Last weekend I was testing VR headsets in pCARS with just a simple old DFGT. I mostly used Donington with the BAC Mono as a good test environment for the elevation changes, but what also stood out is how fun that little car is. You can induce oversteer at will, hold it easily at a wide variety of angles, and correct with ease.

I can't imagine how unfortunate it would be to drive the Mono without being able to play with oversteer around every corner!

It's hard to say. Will have to run more tests. The tank slapper in this game works on a 2 or 1-way basis - you either lose complete control while trying to catch a slide one way, or you do manage to correct it and then overcorrect, and it spins the other way and you're done after that.

However, there have been times when I've managed to catch slides, but at slower speeds, driving less grippy, less powerful cars.

I need more practice, I know. The more time I invest in it, the more rewarding it is. Just can't put it down. Superb learning curve. Makes you work at learning the limits of each car.

Overall, I love the physics model - far better than any game I've played on my X1 and a heckuva an achievement. Perhaps I should give serious thought to getting a wheel.

Well, it looks okay visually, considering it's a crowd-funded game and not a AAA title. I don't know about the AA though - it looks very sharp and clean on my TV.
It looks considerably worse than the PS4 version, in my opinion. Oh well.

Yes, slides are hard to catch. Something they said they are addressing in PCARS2 as we speak. I love catching slides and drifting now and then in FM5 and 6 with sim steering, 0/100 deads and assists off. Feels very natural and rewarding.

In PCARS, better not lose traction.
I read Ian mentioning that. They certainly really have to work with the controller inputs. I mean, drifting/sliding isn't impossible in pCARS with the controller (see my video below) but it just never feels intuitive, for lack of a better word. It shows that the game was made with a wheel in mind, which is by no means a bad thing though.

Light rain & cold tires with high tire pressure (on both front and rear tires.) The only time I managed to drift/slide a car in pCARS.

Well, yes and IMO the game looks as good as it needs to because there's a complex physics engine at work. 👍

So the PS4 version looks fairly bad too? What kind of TV do you game on, if you don't mind? Is it set to its native resolution, 1:1 pixel mapping, no enhancements, zero sharpness... all that?

I don't game on a very expensive TV and it looks fine, though not as good as Forza of course, but then again Forza has 30fps replays which I do not enjoy all that much.

I think we need to put the PC version aside because that one is just killer.

Pretty nice drftin' there, especially for a controller. As I said in one of mt posts, it's easier to drift with the less powerful, less grippy cars, particularly road cars.

Drove the F1 today for the first time and saw that its in class B :boggled: Always thought the F1 would be a class A Car

P1 Confirm Better
:P

In career mode, when driving cars that have multiple tire compounds do they all drive default setup or will they alter strategy?

I'm not sure why that matters.. I guess A is reserved for the hypercars or exotics that are not only fast but also have really sharp handling. The F1 is fast, but has floaty handling compared to the modernday exotics and hypercars, as well as it should have.

I love driving it though; can be tamed with the right tunes.

No i didn't mean that in a bad way :) I like the F1 its a great car to drive, I guess i was just thinking about how fast it is, But when you factor handling yea it does have that floaty handling like you said.:)

There is definitely something wrong. Literally every single time I come to a complete stop from a spin or something I have to go to neutral, rev the engine, and put back in 1st to start to the car. But also just to go from reverse to first. That's the weird part. I started the car up to go in reverse, got away from the wall, go to first, and car is off again. Seriously?

You're on a controller, yes? Keep Auto Clutch on. Plus, CARS has this weird thing where the car will rev high and the clutch disengages a second later for some reason, hence preventing the player from instantly launching the car in a glorious burnout. Oh for the life of me, why?

No in a wheel

So I won the formula B championship by 1 point and I gotta say...It was pretty nerve wrecking in that last race. I spun early and had suspension damage. I pitted and repaired the damage. I was 20th and drove all the way up to 11th. I had only 2 victories through out the whole season. So after that I decided to sign a contract to go drive in the formula A series and even though formula A isn't my cup of tea I wanted to give it a shot anyway. So I went to practice and struggled. I lowered the AI difficulty and made all types of adjustments to the car but just couldn't be competitive. So I decided to go to muti class Endurance racing instead. Gonna try to win the AEC championship first.

I myself have been contemplating going into career. I've spent the last few months just hot lapping and taking on the AI in 1-on-1 races. Time to get serious I suppose.

I'm loving the career mode, but have done the 125 shifter Karts about 3 times.
How do I move up to the next Kart and continue.

Do what i do for single player fun.

Full grid
Start in middle
Whatever time of day settings you like
AI set to 80 or 85 depending on track
All four weather slots random
I make it 15 minutes but go longer if you want.

Do this and see how far up you get. Starting from last is fun too but know you'll probably never win, it's just fun to see if you can get all the way to the top 10

Man, frustrating day with the AI racing on Watkins Glen!! Started racing Formula C on the track yesterday and just fell in love, great track. BUT, for some reason it seems the AI on this track is just out of control! I have been taken out so many times..rammed from behind, turned in too, forget trying to race side by side into a turn! It's almost like I am not ever there. I saw one car cut the inside of a corner over a curb, come off the ground and onto the grass and still make a pass.

Maybe I am just off today but these dudes seem nuts!

It's funny, but not, AI will give you room when entering a corner and mid corner. Then, no room when exiting. Oh, you're getting smashed off track, if you're side by side exiting corners.

I know this is not exactly related to what you said but I am in love with the track layouts in CARS. So alive! You can feel every bump and elevation change. Laser scanning or not, they've done a really splendid job of modelling tracks.

You got that right!

The tracks are awesome, totally agree

Amazing! I've just mentioned this in the GTS thread! Even posted a video of a real GT3 race at Brands Hatch.
I didn't mention PCars, but it's why GTS is lifeless(after Gran Turismo 2 IMO).

Driving the RS Cosworth at any track. The second chicane at Zolder, that dip & hop at Turn 1 Silverstone GP, all the other tracks.

I, seriously, used to fall alseep playing GT6. PC1 rarely gives me a chance to rest. If I'm up late enough, I wind up shutting the game off, because I know I'll need to concentrate.

It is awesome.

I am back on Pcars after a couple of months of Assetto Corsa. Racing the Merc AMG Coupe (TC3) around Spa. Dialed up some 7pm twilight and just kicked back on some practice before qualifying. The game felt awesome with the track elevation absolutely rocking as the car nailed the high speed corners.

Turned off Visual wheel filtering and it is even more tasty!

Might do a night race tonight. Suck that AC!!

Even if PCARS lacks in the sound department, that's one thing I really enjoy about the racing - the tracks and how they give you the feeling of actually being there. It's like you're one with the road and have to go with how it flows in order to nail every corner. It actually reminds me of FM5's physics and FOV.

I always keep visual wheel filtering off though I must admit catching slides sometimes feels really funny; it's like a pendulum and once you go past the no-save zone.. off into the barriers you go.

What does visual wheel filtering do?

It makes movement of the cockpit wheel more smooth. So lets say if you quickly yank the analog stick by 70% on either side and then scale it back to 40% for example, there's going to be a filter that smoothens out this movement. So there will be a bit of a lag, so to speak.

Keep it off along with opposite lock help. PM me - I can share my setups with you. They work remarkably well, especially if you're coming from Forza.

First off I'm driving with a wheel so the comparison to a controller is meaningless. Is that all it's for because I'll turn it off then

So I decided to buy the Classic Lotus Track Expansion, and I watched the trailer for it, and I have a question: does anyone know the name of the song used in it? If it even exists lol because I can't find anything at all
