Nah, we like go tease :P jk

But you're wrong about one thing - community has decided that there will be a chance to join again for a brief time. It's on hold though for the time being as the FSA does it's investigations etc.

Well that's good to hear. All I want is to be a member of the forums, I don't even really wanna play the pre-Alpha/Alpha/Beta game (would rather just wait to buy it and play it when it comes out). I'd just like to see what's going on behind the scenes is all, but I can't even do that.

So to hear everyone talk about things and know that they're looking at them and then not willing to share hurts. Take a page from PD and stay quiet about it.

It's not anything less than normal game hype.

Anyway. Looking forward to this and some of the other tracks planned.

Except in normal game-hype situations, I can't ask for screens, 'cause I know other people on these forums don't have access to them. So while the hype may be the same, this is a totally different situation compared to normal game development hype.

If I asked for screen shots of one of PD's latest car/track builds, I'm sure people would think I was bonkers.

And after all of that, they ended up getting posted anyways, and by a website that gets a lot more traffic than this thread does.

Edit... nvm.

I still wish we could've gotten Porsche's cars to go with the track instead of a Renault, but at least the first RUF is on its way.

Honestly I dont even give a Schnitzel about no Porsche. Ok, I m lying, I do give one about the 917 and one about the 962, but that it.

And after how SMS got screwed by Automaniax and/or Porsche, I m not sure I d even want them in the game, even if they were for motherloving gratis.

From the first screenshot that Wicken posted, I would assume that it is wide enough for racing.

The track was made for another project (Ian didn't say what but Automaniax is the likely guess) but wasn't used so here it is in pCARS. If you have a track done why not use it indeed.

Presumably they have it more or less complete already, so why wouldn't you put it in?

I'm not suggesting they don't use it if they have it available, but I thought they had made it from scratch. If it was intended for another project that fell through, and they have a legal right to use it, then why not indeed? My concern was what is the point in putting in a track on which you can't overtake (and please, no mention of Monaco or Macau, I'm against them being in the game as well)?

It's a test track, no a race track. That's not to say you can't race on it but that isn't it's primary purpose.

Could anyone give a short description of how the physics are coming along? I'm saving up for a new gaming pc and the latest pc sim I've driven was iRacing about two years ago. Last I heard was the physics were still pretty arcade for lack of a better term.

Gawddammit this is suuuber fun! The most fun I've ever had with a formula car in a sim 👍

We've just crossed the bridge that some of the last parts of the tire model are starting to get implemented.. FB is a good example.. it's now immense fun - not because it's easy but because it's believable and natural.

What I mean is that the physics are coming along VERY good.

The game's still being developed of course so certain cars are much more fleshed out than others, and the ones that are move advanced feel great. Better than GT5 but not as difficultly realistic as iRacing. Good mix so far that makes the cars very fun to push but not frustrating to mess up with. Easier to realize where you went wrong as a result, which can be a better way to consume your driving time :).

Wardez, have you tried the FB -A, -B & -C ? If yes.. how do you reckon? Interested to hear if I have just built my own imaginary bubble here liking the A very much (sure there are things to improve just a tad but this is wrong forum for that).. :P

From what I can see in your video above it looks interesting but too oversteery. A formula car should have more grip on rear tyres. Don't get me wrong, it IS actually possible to spin out every modern F1 but you can always try to catch the slide, expecially at medium/high speed because of downforce.

Also need to consider every F1 team for being competitive will try to reduce oversteer and increase traction as much as they can coming out from slow corners.

I understand that comment. FB and the current state tire model is very responsive to basic DF adjusment so more understeery nature is sure possible to have. Also I didn't drive "safe" intentionally to make the vid a bit more interesting and to give a bit more info of the tire for all the YT physics interpreters. (nothing wrong with that, I do it myself too..) I can drive a faster, less oversteery lap easily if I try to go fast with the same setup. Not sure if you are a member (?) but there's a lot more in it than what a 30fps vid can transmit - the stuff you really need to feel through the wheel (and see in 90fps). That's the stuff I'm excited of. :) It honestly feels a lot more like a rubber tire now and this is just a start.

How do I change the tyre? I can't understand the instructions on the forum.

Not a professional in this but..

Go to the "run" menu and type "cmd" (I have my game exe at E:\GAMES\PCARS\pcars.exe)

I'd type these:

e:
cd games
cd pcars
pcars.exe -A

And then I'd be running the A model

Change A to B / C accordingly. Surely there's easier ways, but that's all I know :P You have to use capitals with A B C

edit,

oh the old good days of DOS

Nope I'm not a member, but is cool to hear your feedback I saw you catched a couple of slides at Caracciolo-Karussel. The feeling of rubber is essential. I never had that feeling waching pCars vids so far. Now it seems to looks more "natural". It's moving in the good direction, only one thing ask them to tone down tyre squealing please! :sly:

Don't worry about the tire squeal at this point only this week the API from tire model metric to sound fx was completed (öööh, not sure if it's "completed" but I remember a dev post mentioning something like this) so we will start to get improvements in this area at some point. Current sounds is pretty much totally a placeholder.

Gonna try it later tonight once I'm home Timo, looking forward to it after reading your comments 👍
