SMS have to balance the cars they want and the money they have. In the case of BMW, there were a few cars they wanted such as the BMW M3 GT2, Z3 GT3 and the M3 E30 BTCC, but BMW insisted or offered for free others like the V12 LMR. So in the case of the Ford GT, it would probably have cost them too much. Also, you have to look at cars that fit in with the structure design document of the game. Nowhere in that document is there a place for the GT.

Exactly @ DG Silva: I was initially disappointed, too but think about it:

What would you have pitted the street version Ford GT against?
How would it have been integrated in the career mode?
Would it have been worth the licence cost and the time? They are incredibly tight on both, budget and time - 1 year to release!

BTW: There are still other possibilities than Matech for a GT Racing version of the GT. The Lambda Motorsports GT/E, for example.

I was just about to say there is a racing erosion of the GT (non factory tho) I wouldn't mind the DBRS9 though. I guess wants the money starts rolling on after sales then they can start looking for more expensive cars to model and release as DLC. I havent been signed up for long but looks good so far. Hope there a good selection of cars and tracks on release, even if it's only 50 but with more to come, quality over quantity.

You can't make the argument for Ford GT not being in the game because where would it fit in the game structure - wheres the 1M get placed then or the 67 Mustang Fastback, 2012 Ford focus & the 1940 328. I love road cars, more the merrier but that particular argument is bunk.

Once a developer gets a license for a brand to be in their game does is the cost decided by what cars you choose to model, and does a manufacturer force you to add a car you really don't want just to get it in a game ? Or does the decision get made by ref material and cooperation from the owners and time it would take to put in the game ?

BMW 1M, 2012 Ford Focus: Low budget touring car racing
67 Mustang & 328 - unspecified historic challenges

At least thats how its stated in the career design car selection document. I was actually kinda sceptic about the whole historic stuff in the base game. I would prefer them to focus on modern day race cars for the main game and release stuff thats great, but that has no or only limited function for the career mode, as DLC later on.

Well, to be honest I have no doubt PD can model a car like that. It's just that they don't model the internal parts of the car (except the interior, of course). Which is funny, many people complain that PD already made the cars too detailed. Can you imagine the rage if PD really modelled the frame and everything? Not to mention there would be a lot less cars.

But anyway, the car models in PCARS seem very detailed and most importantly, faithful to the real thing in dimensions and proportions. Which is why I can't wait to see the '66 Mustang. Have they started work on it yet?

Well I know that's what I meant, PD only model the outside of their cars and take six months of man hours, SMS go to much, much greater detail modelling the whole car and they claim to have a car done in roughly half that time, 3 months of man hours.

You know there are GT1/GT2/GT3 versions of the Ford GT right? So yeah, it fits very nicely in the structure in any of its variants. And you still need to license the Ford brand even if the car you model is a privateer entry on a particular series.

Yes, but the racing versions of the Ford GT were all built by Matech, which has since gone bust and SMS have been unable to find out where the trail goes. If they could find out how to get hold of the Matech licenses, they could put the Ford GT racing version in, seeing as they already have the license from Ford.

As for the historic stuff Toca Race Driver 1-3 had historic racing in it and didn't feel any worse for it.

Not all of them were, they could easily try with Robertson Racing, Marc VDS, or even that team that runs the GT1 Fords this year.

Well hello there. I haven't been at this for a while, haven't even been able to keep up with what's been going on in the WMD/pCARS world but...

I'm a little bit rusty so forgive me. Oh, if anyone has backups of the original livery files for the Zonda R (as in when you select "custom" you get the grid mesh) I'd greatly appreciate it.

Finally!! We've all been waiting for some eye candy!! Thank you thank you thank you!!

Ehm, T12... the liveries are all in the download section at the WMD forum: vehicles -> painting -> Vehicles Custom Paints Download Database (its a sticky).

Damn, you re REALLY rusty! :D

No, I'm looking for the files prior to being modified, i.e. the original files where, as described above, you'd select "custom livery" and you'd only get a white vehicle with the grid mesh.

If those are on the WMD forum then I never knew about it. :P

Which is real?

Looks like some corners still need some loft tweaking, but overal a good start.

^ Whoa, I need to take a closer look at the pit lanes. I haven't even driven into any of the pit lanes in about 4 months.

I haven't driven into the pits at all! Looks awesome! Great place to do some donuts...

Of all the officially announced cars that's the one I'm looking forward the most!
