Solitude Rennstrecke?

Yes, that one.

DG_Silva
I've tried out Solitude Rennstrecke on rFactor, it is a fantastic circuit. You're going to need a loooong final gear ratio for the back straight before you get the village. From the village to the start/finish line it gets quite narrow with a constant left-right-left-right-etc. (definitely not for the sea sick), so it's going to be difficult to overtake there.

Sounds awesome. Though I am pretty sure the art team has their hands full already on all the tracks being worked on now, especially eifelwald.

About being sea sick. I just put 8 5 cm pucks under my rSeat and have a buttkicker. The pucks are kinda soft but sturdy, but due to the softness I have a slight roll in the rig now and that together with the new buttkicker's vibrations... I think my balancing organ got a bit shaken too. Makes me wonder about the guys in a motion rig, if they have to adapt to the motions of the rig.

Wait, is this going to be in the game?

Zonda's are also missing from the new build.

Yes, it is! That was my bestestest pCARS moment ever when Ian wrote that its gonna be in and that our effort (recording onboard, taking hundrets of photos, scanning local archives, interviewing historic racing experts and race drivers from back in the day like Hans Herrmann) was worth it!

About those left/rights: This part, amongst others, is hugely challenging. Its an array of unique curves, they all have different radius, banking, entry speed etc. You have to know them all and get in the flow, screwing one up means a huge time loss otherwise. The rfactor version is cool, but thats one of the parts that doesnt translate too well. Amongst some other things. Our version will be the most authentic and detailed recreation yet. And needless to say, the most beautiful!

You might wanna check the tracks/list of tracks sticky thread from time to time... :D

I want that M1 now! Grrr, darn bug. Tom tried his best and stayed very late. He deserves a bear from every pCARS team member in my opionion. Though that will have a negative impact on his workflow. lol

Might have to unleash my GTX 670 this weekend and get some max detail + max AA shots for you all :D

What would be the best settings for the AA frame rate wise for a 680? I think I have 8x with full FXAA on, getting quite nice FPS at the moment, just wondering if I can get more. :dopey:

Also, dtshalcyon where did you get the pictures of the M1?

Nice. I'd hope for some other wheel styles included for the M1 too. I.e.:

One way to find out! Just try it. I don't think you really need 8x AA along with FXAA, as far as I'm aware the latter is a post processing filter applied over the top of everything to make it slightly blurry. It's good because it means you can anti-alias textures which use the alpha channel (you know, like how in some games bushes and foliage is just a flat texture with transparency?) that can't be done with pre processing, but at the same time it blurs everything. 8x is a lot of AA so you might find the game looks better without FXAA. I might be wrong but try it out, I don't think you can compare the two with screenshots though because as FXAA is post processing and screenshots are taken out of the frame buffer then FXAA isn't applied to screenshots, I think people who use FXAA injectors complain about that sometimes.

That might have been all complete lies, I'm going from my gnat-like memory so it's hardly a reliable source of info.

It looks awesome, but still doesn't drive good. It hops too much about in my opinion (more cars are like this btw).

Thanks, I'll try it out. :) I had been using FXAA because I used 16xAA at first and realized that was overkill.

Yeah, graphically this game is awesome. But I feel like physics are not a priority ATM...

Yeah, physics in relation to grip and such is on a bit of a back burner for sure until AJ finishes up the new tyre model.
And of course like with every implementation of a new car, the physics are always in great lines placeholders and not fine tuned.

So yeah, it's a bit of both this time. Even tried the old Lotus 49 tonight, but even the physics in terms of mechanical grip is lacking there. It is either grip or no grip with the current tyre model, due to lack of transient grip. So some lift with any car on any of the wheels and you instantly loose grip at a certain threshold.

In any case, transient grip is in the new tyre model and then we will see more car/physics tuning when it gets implemented. Which I personally will hope to see this month, but I have no clue about that myself.

Edit:

Now if only we had the original M1 M-Power skin for the M1 Procar. The one JvM posted above.

And also I hope someone out there who is handy will be able to recreate this one for the Z4... Hatsune Miku - black skin

Baffles me how people can still write - sorry - ignorant stuff like that. How can you state something like that while a almost completely new tire model is coded, while the update to Physix3 is made and while severe updates to the handing model are made? Just because you cant see it happening, it doesnt mean there is nothing happening or not top priority.

Did you ever think about how catastrophic results would be if they included halfway-coded physics updates in the weekly builds? People would run in circles screaming about broken this, broken that and probably leave the project by the boatloads.

Its a bit sad how few people see the bigger picture and keep the state of the project in mind when passing judgement. Its not meant as a personal attack at you Jav, I m just tired of reading stuff like that.

I think he meant fine tuning the cars further before this is implemented. Though if it is like how you took his statement then I have to agree with you indeed.
Though otherwise I can see a valid reason for the team to do much fine tuning on the cars now knowing that all the above is to be implemented within reasonable time.

On a personal note. I can not wait for all the changes, even though I expect the car handling to be messed up at first for most if not all cars. Like they say... One step back, two steps forward. ;)

Ps. Looked at the solitude topic. Weird stone you guys found and weird location for a glider in my opinion. Would love to join you guys in your archeological digs. Looks a lot of fun. lol (live a bit too far from Stuttgart though ;) )

I hope you like it. 👍

My impression of the sound (before anyone tells me, I'm aware its not final. I'm just giving my thoughts on it so far as I know it might/will change Later on.):

Its very meaty and throtty, finally someone has managed to pull off a V8 sound without all the annoying digitized fluff I hear in many PC mods. Only improvements I think would put this sound through the roof:

*Higher pitch, not too much but just to match how ridiculously high the real car revs
*Dat Gear Whine. Because its almost a BMW trademark to have Gearwhine that grinds your ears

Overall, I Love it 👍

Now I'm gonna see if telling them this would do any good since its the only thing I could lend any input on

Same car, but yeah forgot but indeed the black livery is for the Super GT while the white Miku is for the GT3 class.

DG_Silva
It's not. The black car is a Mk1 Z4 and the white car is the a Mk2 Z4.

My bad then. They look practically the same to me. And to be honest I haven't really followed the BMW developments these past years. Especially the Z4 hasn't caught my eye at all. So I blame the untrained eyes I have.

Well maybe we can have a look a like of sorts. I like those Miku liveries on the Z4. Though as a Vocaloid I think Luka is better. :P

I have a question about the available perks, I know that junior members don't have acess to the country tracks, nurburgring nordschleife and the 2 BMW's available but that won't be like that when the game releases for any platform right?

Nah, thats just the investment level during development. When the game releases, it will be the same for everybody, investors or not.
