Project CARS - Logitech Wheels NOT Supported on PS4

Hey everyone

I have a LOGITECH G27 wheel and i just built a RICMOTECH sim racing rig.
If SONY/ PS4 are not going to support LOGITECH WHEELS and all other wheel manufacturer's then i'm selling my ps4 and buying a gaming pc or maybe just throw the ps4 in the GARBAGE BIN.
Supporting only thrustmaster wheel s is just GREEDY shame on SONY .

Cheers redness-63

I have serious doubts you can outperform a ps4 with these specs...

You also forgot to add in windows price and monitor/keyboard mouse, a due expense if a user is new to pc gaming

I didn't say it would, as I don't know how they perform, but don't underestimate that setup because it's very good, I had that processor before upgrade to i7 4770k and the difference wasn't all that great, considering I stuck a 290 in there aswell. Yes you are correct about the monitor that could become a serious cost to consider but... What were you willing to play project cars on with your ps4? Keyboard and mouse set can be a very small expense and I don't need to give advice about these as I'm using a crusty old dell keyboard from many moons ago. Yes windows can be expensive, my advise for you there would be (UK, not sure if everyone has an equivalent) software for students where cheap licences around £40 can be purchased.

Another thing people are talking about is amount of cars on track, why, and I ask honestly if the ps4 is such a beast will this be limited?

All in all your correct it does cost more than I originally made out, but I'd still say I'm happy as a ps4 and wheel set to buy new if you haven't already is going to be megabucks too.

So according to this, Logitech is the one to blame then? Yet they're still selling their wheels now

PC market is still large, that's why you can find new G27 in stores. Logitech decided to stop supporting console market.

No, logitech quit wheels market, you can still find logitech wheels in shops just because they have been produced and are on sale, it's just stock to be sold. They are not supporting pc, on pc everything works and stop. Here in some store you can still find new ps2.. and ps2 have been discontinued.

However, after the initial madness, there is nobody to blame, just tech evolving. Is like asking ps1 controllers to work on ps4. We were just unlucky guys. The other guy that bought a new dfgt jhowever ust made a very stupid move, we already know about logitech since january 2013. i fell sorry for him, he should be very angry.

Thinking like that we can also start blaiming sms because on their site they claimed to release project cars for ps3. Someone might have bought the ps3 just for pcars.. and then puff they changed their mind asking to forum guys.

Just wait if you are able to wait ( i can't and i want to play pcars now) or save money a buy t300, t500 or the new fanatec.

The G27 is still very much in production and available from the Logitech website. The G27 just had some upgrades made to the wheel not that long ago. The DFGT however isn't available on the US Logitech website and hasn't been for some time now. However a few months ago the DFGT was still available from Logitech in other regions, not sure if that has changed. Logitech left console gaming market behind not PC gaming. Ironically it was about the same time many console sim racers were leaving the console racing market.

^ Aye. The G27 and DFGT are still available for ordering at this moment, directly from Logitech.

@ paulpg87: This is not comparable to PS1 controllers working on a PS4 at all. That's different tech, different plugs, different protocols, different functionality.

A USB FFB wheel is exactly the same now as then; same tech, same plugs, same protocol, same functionality. One have to make an effort to not make it work, so to speak.

Logitech wheels feel like toys when compared to more recent designs, especially the weak FFB. We can talk about the plugs and the technology all day long, but when you use a G27 and a T500RS back-to-back, you simply can't deny that the G27 outclassed in every measureable way. IMO, the evolution of "sims" such as Project CARS simply can't have these "toys", for lack of a better term, potentially reduce the experience of customers, new and current.

Actually.... Latency on the G27 is better, due to it being cog based and not having all that belt inertia. This has been measured, there are even graphs :)

Yes, I prefer my T500 to my G25, but there are those who have tried various belt drive wheels and preferred the cog drive compromise instead.

That's just a quality difference between two differently priced wheels, released within a year of each other - it's not what we're talking about.

Wut? This thread is about Logitech (and other) wheel support for PS4 and new gen in general. Speculative or factual. Not about quality differences in wheels - but hey, it's Friday, so it doesn't matter right now :)

Unfortunately the T500RS wheel I've purchased on eBay is shagged. Although it calibrated on PC and PS3, all buttons are unresponsive. Now to get my money back. Wish I'd waited a bit longer and got something new. I'm afraid I saw a low price and couldn't resist. I'll probably have to start on PCars and Driveclub with the dratted controller now.

The Logitech is a fairly older project, it's built around the G25 (it was developed through out 2005, IIRC). The T500 is a much newer product.

The T500 won't work in the system menus but will in game, if that's what you have tried.

On PC and PS3 all buttons most definitely do work ;)

Yes, it's definitely knackered. I knew the PS4 wasn't the machine to test it on (which Chris probably thought I wrote). In GT6, even if I plug in the wheel when on track the wheel tries to turn off the system after calibrating and nothing responds (even steering). Firmware up to date. :(

The G27 shares the housing with the G25, possibly the electronics board too. The mechanicals, wheel and shifter was changed. The two are similar products, with the T500RS being a more upmarket wheel launched one year later. Anyway, I really don't understand why you and mu22stang are pushing this. But hey, it's Saturday, so it doesn't matter right now :P

I'm not pushing anything. Both G2* feels the same thing.

Just happens that I had the G25 and G27 and now have the T500, so I can compare them all.

But you are right, what really matters is that today is saturday and the WEC is back today! Yay! Finally.

OK, wowbagger. I thought the G27's helical gears were a good bit smoother and quieter though. But WEC is more exiting, and I get to see the whole thing live on MotorsTV, yay! :D

If we end up with redundant Logitech wheels, here's a nifty alternative use of them:

Pure art. You can add that to the new car list. Managers get creating those liveries.

For those who might be able to afford it the T300RS is available for pre order on Amazon UK for £250. This is a fair bit less than I expected.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Thrustmaster-Official-Force-Feedback-wheel/dp/B00NOJJPZU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1411759297&sr=8-1&keywords=t300 rs

The info is in the wheel section of the site but I posted this here in case anyone might not have seen it. Thanks to the peeps who first noticed.

Quite less than what I expected. However I'd like it to be £120.00 because the pedals and shifter aint cheap.

Should they ban the use of controllers, too?

And by the way, this is a videogame and consoles are toys.

colleague is just missing that was equal costing almost double, we must also think about the ability of consumer acquisition, this remains a hobby, but rather like you insinuate toys, we would have a car or kart prepared and so would feel a certain race, but most are normal people with normal lives and a normal job duties that meet, and this gets us to avoid this reality so hard and consumerism, which I will not do is deprive me of thousand things more (200 €, not how many pounds are) just to feel what you call him a little more realism that's that, I guess you have not tried the g27 on a PC with a good simulator to speak well of him, you buy a playseat which also worth a fortune, then do not fit the pedal what do we do, we bought another playseat? is that not only is the steering wheel starts to add, is the monthly wage !!!!!! you if you have plenty of money luck, but we did not want to eat the head saying it's better, it's only business.

I think Sony's getting the message now though. People are going wild on pretty much all the recent posts on DriveClub about Logitech and Fanatec support. So much so that Evo Studios came up and said this

A sign maybe?
