Project CARS - Logitech Wheels NOT Supported on PS4

True?

HOWEVER - I think I've found a cheap answer. The "Titan One" USB dongle allows you to use any wheel with the PS4. It requires a DS4 to be connected (to get round the security chip thing) as well as a PC (for what reason I'm not overly sure, config I think), but with that done, the wheel will perform normally. A Force Feedback support upgrade is promised imminently. I'm going to give one a try as this could be something of a saviour giving Sony's head-in-the-sand stance.

So check this out, Sony previewed an update

What's significant of this update though is the addition of a USB music player and by the images, maybe a USB Movie player too. Plenty of PS4 owners complained about this and it seems that Sony is starting to listen now.

A sign that we Logitech wheel owners may be lucky? It could happen, I mean the whole Logitech wheel support issue is gaining awareness.

I highly doubt it.

Sony won't make any money from supporting Logitech wheels. They will make loads of money, however, by making exclusive agreements with companies like Thrustmaster whereby they gain some of the profits of wheels sold. Also, Sony are probably quite happy to force Logitech out into the cold after the bust up with them over patents for Dual Shock technology.

For me personally; if Sony do not support my wheel, I will not be supporting them. PC gaming here I come. It will be cheaper to build a powerful PC from pre-owned parts, than to buy a decent Thrustmaster wheel & PS4 console.

It's well clear that logictech itself went out of consoles yet people keep saying sony sent them out...

Also is there a source stating that sony gains from thrustmaster's sales? Or that they do not want other wheels? I never saw such info beside that they made that weird chip mandatory for usb periferals...

Thanks to little device called CronuxMAX. What it does it lets you connect any controller to PS3, PS4, X360 and XboxOne.

This is the schematic showing how it's all connected. G27 is connected not to PS4 directly but to PC. Then PC is connected to CronusMAX that picks Wheel signals from PC and inputs them to PS4.

Only drawback is Wheel does not have Force Feedback, because DS 4 does not have it, only rumble effect is possible. But That's only cons i can find.

This device maps all buttons and transfers them to wheel So you playing using any wheel you can have, any Logitech any Fanatec wheel but game console thinks your are using DualShock 4, or 3, Or X360 pad or Xbox One. It depends which game console you are using.

ohhh by the way. CronusMAX cost 55$, it's better deal then buying new wheel for 600$. And guys who make this device are aware about PS4 - Logitech wheels incompatibility so they are working on full Force Feedback for this wheel. It should be included in next firmware update.

Small cos for not swapping your current wheel to T300RS which is cheap, two pedals, no clutch = it's a joke for a price heavily overpriced T500RS.

movie to understand how to be better racing driver!

It's quite probable that decision to pull out of consoles was in part made due to

1 the charge Sony placed on allowing older hardware on a new console and
2 the legal ruling regarding the Logitech force feed back specifically limiting it's use to only PS2/3.

My officially PS4 licensed Thrustmaster T300 has a sticker on the USB cable stating something like "FFB technology by Immersion Corporation".

From my understanding Sony now owns that license. So essentially Sony did put Logitech out of the PS4 market.

And presumably Thrustmaster did pay Sony/Immersion to license the FFB tech to use on the Playstation.

This is simply a way for sony to make more money. Like the block to PS3 gamepads. PS4 recongizes the DS3 and tell's you you can't use a PS3 gamepad. IT know's what it is but won't let you use it.

This means I won't buy a PS4. With the money I would spend in PS4+Wheel I'll buy a new motherboard and CPU, thats all I need for my PC to run this and Assetto really well.

The only drawback is your wheel does not have Force Feedback? Isn't that like saying the only drawback of your brand new Ferrari is that it doesn't have a motor?

why are sony so quite about logitech support. yes or no then we can all move on.no news is bad news
They probably want some people to buy new PS4's before knowing for sure their wheels don't work. People like to believe it will be suported and may buy a new console with that hope. Me?? Nope. I'll stick to PC

Yes, of course. I'm simply saying it muddies the waters if I'm going to have to buy a new wheel to play either console. Once my PS+ subscription lapses there's really nothing holding me to the playstation ecosystem.

XBone will be cheaper and possibly have a better range of racing games, that's all I'm saying.
Good point about racing games on xbone. I agree, for the time being and I really like forza. But I don't think xbone has that many good wheels to choose from when compared to ps4 and especially PC. There's the plastic Ferrari thrustmaster wheel with a T500 ffb motor, which is pretty good but requires expensive upgrades to be comparable to the t500rs, and then there's the mad catz wheel for xbone (not too good).
If you don't mind the lack of clutch pedal, the best solution is the xbox one thrustmaster wheel if you get an xbone.
Or just get a PC and the sky is the limit for racing wheels. They ALL work. :)

Silence is better than bad news for them, because the competition can't take advantage of this potentially bad news and a few people will buy the ps4 hoping that it will get logitech and fanatec support in the future. Which is still possible.

@highlifeGT
Well fanatec recently announced xbox one support.

OK Im too lazy to read back a month or so, so someone fill me in. I'm assuming no definite new from Sony/Logitech? Do I see something about a 3rd party dongle that I could use to plug in my DFGT to use on the PS4? And if I can't use it, does anyone know any dfgt level wheels that are compatible? (I'm thinking cheap but still a competitive wheel)

^ We still don't know. For every day the chances of a resolution are getting less.

There s the adapter thing, but AFAIK, it will not give you proper FFB (certainly not FFB tailored to your wheel).

A cheap competitive wheel is the Thrustmaster T100 which I believe will work with Project Cars on the PS4. It still has proper force feedback. The wheel only does 270 degrees rotation but that's probably adequate for most racing cars. It's about 80 pounds UK. Currently the next step up is the T300 which I have on order for 250 UK.

Yeah I looked at the t100 but am reluctant to relinquish 900° steering after having the dfgt, unfortunately I cant afford a t300 atm, so I guess 270° are better than 0° on a pad :/

From the sound of users who have both T100 and DFGT, the T100 pedals are less floppy than the DFGT ones, so you lose on the rotation but gain on the pedals.

Then again, since we have no PS4 sim coming out before March 2015, there's no rush. Hopefully the T300 will drop in price during Jan/Feb.... Right now for example the list price of the T300(PS4) and TX(XBox One) wheels are both €370, however the slightly older TX can be got for €290 while the T300 still costs €350+. Whether this will be enough is something you can only answer yourself of course.

IF IT HELPS I've just seen the T500RS new on Amazon Germany for €350 which must also include the pedals including clutch.

yeah right now it's a hard choice if you have €350 to spend... The T500 is the more complete set with excellent pedals, very powerful FFB and the unique fixed paddles and bigger (30cm) rim combination, but the T300 has full (instead of only in-game) PS4 compatibility, more modern motor tech, and comes with the excellent 28cm rim with moving paddles. I like them both for different things, although if I had to choose the T300 would just edge it, as long as I could use different pedals :)

That pricing kind of implies that Thrustmaster might well be deliberately selling off T500 stock, and if anything the lack of T300 availability supports that hypothesis, so there really is a chance that the T500 is being discontinued by the end of the year. Which would be annoying because the T500 pedals are so much better and aren't available separately yet. Still, it's anyone's guess right now what Thrustmaster will do next: I don't believe they would want a steady-state where the T300 and T500 compete directly on price....
