It kinda defeats the whole purpose of using USB ports in the first place. For the PS5, Sony need to implement their own type of cable connector and screw up all devices...they can have all the money then.
No doubt to protect their (probably well-paying) deal with their preferred 3rd party manufacturers.
The whole wheel fiasco is going to hurt any console racers/sims. If people who have wheels now have to spend money on console and a new wheel, you can get a fairly decent PC for the same price.
Sony/MS are turning their consoles into a walled garden, and not in a good way.
I already had a Playstation 4. I had a Driving Force GT (DFGT) so had a decision to make. I took the plunge and ordered the Thrustmaster T300 with add on pedals (with brake mod) and H-shifter.
I offer this in case it might help people who are undecided about their next step.
The wheel arrived yesterday. It's the last piece of the jigsaw puzzle for me. Actually scratch that, the last piece will obviously be Project Cars. I have to say it's a huge upgrade to my DFGT. The range of Force feedback is phenomenal and the H shifter is excellent. It's much quieter than the DFGT on start up and in use.
The bit of testing I have done is briefly in GT6 and mostly in Driveclub and The Crew beta. I'll try it on PC with GTR2 and Game Stock Car Extreme when I get downtime from family duties.
Driveclub doesn't support the H-shifter and clutch yet but The Crew (beta) does. Both of the 2 PS4 games offer a level to the force feedback that is much more advanced than on GT6. I was really surprised at The Crew and how much control you have over steering with a couple of controls. The default wheel setup in the Crew needs quite a bit of adjustment but I was very happy with the feel once I had dialled it in. It made the game feel a lot less arcadey with precise steering and very weighty feedback/resistance (if you want). It's still very much an arcade game but does allow you to drive relatively realistically. Driveclub offered less control over wheel setup and as mentioned No clutch support yet but still felt very engaging to drive. Wheelspin and loss of traction were easy to detect.
Response in the PS4 games was immediate with no perceptable lag.
With my brief drive in GT6 the FFB was better than with my old wheel but didn't have the level of ffb detail of on the other games.
Ultimately I want to see as many of the Fanatech and Logitech wheels supported as it means more sim racing fans playing the games but I do feel I have a much better setup now that still represents value.
One other thing was that the pedals that came with the T300RS were still pretty good and will certainly do as an initial purchase. They have much more resistance (especially the brake) than the DFGT pedals. Obviously the add on pedals are better, especially with the brake mod fitted.
Project Cars will be a step above everything else and I don't regret my decision despite being railroaded into it. I'll try everything on PC in the next few days.
So would you rate that the T300RS with or without the shifter and pedals is actually worth the high cost?
I would say for the £250 I paid for the T300RS with the standard pedals is a big upgrade from the DFGT. The pedals are a bit better but the wheel is a lot better. That is where the best value is. I would see how you get on with them and see if you need to upgrade. I have wanted a pedal and h pattern shifter for a while so it was easy to justify the extra expense once I found the T300 at a much cheaper price (£100 less than launch). I think there's more of a decision for owners of a G27 with the full Thrustmaster package with add-ons. That's because there isn't a change in functionality but you do get an improvement in performance. The h-pattern shifter is a work of art and feels excellent. It is a luxury. Another option is to get the T300 with the pedal upgrade only and just use the flappy paddles for gear changing (they're excellent too).
Everyone has to make their own choice but with a bit more time to save (or add birthdays and Christmas presents together) before PCars there's less of a rush.
John can you tell me please, are you using a wheel stand or cockpit? Thanks
share.blog.us.playstation.com/author/cisco150/I've just read through all 18 pages of this thread and we've basically not got any closer to getting a Logitech wheel working with the PS4, at least not without some form of dongle which I'm sceptical about.
Sony and Logitech need to feel our anger. Instead of making hundreds of posts on various internet forums, we should be contacting them directly via any methods possible and repeatedly asking them why/when/how. I hope that eventually they will then buckle under the pressure.
Personally, I doubt that I'll be buying and further racing games unless I can use my G27. My G27 is not very old, combined with the wheelstand pro it cost me (what I consider to be) a large amount of money. I cannot and will not buy a different wheel or upgrade to a gaming PC, I don't have the available income to spend and because my G27 isn't exactly old I can't justify replacing it yet anyway.
Once GT6 has finally died a death (it pretty much has for me anyway) I'll just play other types of games: GTA, Cod, Fifa....
Sadly the game developers that are concentrating all their efforts on making great racing games won't be getting any of my money through no fault of their own. The problem lies with Sony and Logitech not the game developers.
Does anyone know of any reliable contact details for Sony and Logitech (especially for UK or Europe), either phone numbers, email addresses or hyperlinks to website contact forms? Please post as many as you can find and it would be really great if they could be added to the OP post of this thread and any others regarding the compatibility issues.
It would also be useful if we had the links to all petitions too. I have already signed one petition but I'm assuming that there are possibly more than this out there.
I feel sorry for anyone in the same situation as myself right now, we shouldn't be expected to part with our hardware especially those that have made their hardware purchases within the last year or so. Basically we're in a no win situation at the moment and as each week passes it gets more difficult to make the right decision. Some of you have decided to buy a Thrustmaster, which is damn risky if Sony eventually allow Logitech wheels to be used. Meanwhile anyone holding onto their old Logitech wheel in the hope that it will become compatible may lose a fair chunk of money (depreciation) if Sony continue to alienate Logitech wheels. So until there is a 100% answer given across the board, anyone with a Logitech is in a sticky position.........and gaming is supposed to be fun!!
It would get a +1 from you if it actually did let people vote. For some "strange" reason that pool is not accepting any more votes. Wonder whywould have got a +1 from me if it included the DFGT i own
Unfortunately I don't have the space for a rig. It's one of these....

I thought there would be no room for both the wheel and the shifter but if I offset the wheel and pedals slightly to the right there is room for the shifter to the left (I'm used to right hand drive gear sticsticks for me). Offsetting everything to the right works when using the clutch as I'm right foot braking so it stops my right leg touching the upright. Ideally I would have the gear stick lower but I don't have that option on my stand.
For now, it's fine but I've had it quite a while with the couple of DFGTs I've been through and it has loosened a little at the base so I may replace it next year. For the price I've had excellent value. I paid £40 3 years ago and it fits under a pretty low sofa no problem. I will probably upgrade to a Wheel Stand Pro or a Playseat Challenge (below) with some sort of DIY gear shift support or official option if supported by then.

Yeah I'm in the same boat, would love a rig, but space prohibits it. And thanks for answering my next question before I even asked it. I was looking at wheelstand pro but noticed the T300 version has nowhere to put an add-on shifter and was worried the T3PAs wouldn't fit. Now I don't have to worry about it.
I had a chat with the guys over at WSP the other week and they said you can hard mount the T3PA pedals as well as the TH8A. The mod you have to do is get a few screws or something like that. Just communicate with them about your situation and they'll advise you.
How did you get any response from them? I contacted them using that form on their website with this very same question. Never received any reply.
It is compatible with the G27 (normally there is the S shaped shifter plate but it is also possible to mount the G27 shifter on the TH8A/TH8RS shifter plate which is included in the box), T300RS, TX Wheel, T500RS (the only upgrade needed is the 3 M6x40 screws to mount the pedals, they are available in any local metal shop
I had some spare time this morning, so I emailed Playstation Support. I told them my problem, my thoughts on my current predicament and what my actions will be if the issue is not resolved. It was a rather long email, which hopefully won't be ignored like the countless others....but rest assured, if I don't get a response, or I get the usual regurgitated rubbish, I will chase the matter further.
I find it disgraceful that the most popular wheel in the world is not supported by one of the largest console manufacturers. Logitech owners are being shafted....well I'm not going to be shafted anymore. I point blank refuse to buy a different wheel and if I'm unable to use my G27 on the PS4 I will not be buying racing games.
My money will not go to Thrustmaster or Sony.
BTW: has anyone checked out the total price of a Thrustmaster T300, H-shifter and upgraded pedals? Then add a wheelstand to the price too....... Jesus H Christ.
Welcome to the party pal Lots of us are on the same cruise and we've set sail already. We left a boat waiting for you thoughOk. This is pissing me off. I have the Fanatec CSR with Club Sport Elite pedals that are a little more than a year old. I would PAY $50 for some drivers. And don't give me that hardware limitation of the FF and/or security chip. Those security features can be emulated via software and legacy FF code is probably somewhere in their SVN/GIT/whatever code repository.
$400+ setup and Sony is expecting me to upgrade? Expecting G27 users (my old wheel) and what not to upgrade? I'm sorry, but Sony and Microsoft just caused some third party race game devs to lose some money.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but......
Looks like Logitech G27, G25, & DFGT NOT likely to be supported on PS4.
Project CARS announced official controllers for PS4 and Logitech is not on the PS4 list. Given that Project CARS extensive wheel support list for PC, I really believe that if it could have been possible, Logitech would have made the list for PS4.

Hard to believe we'll have to spend more than what the console costs to get a decent sim setup. About double if you want the clutch and shifter.
