Andy what button are you loosing on the GTE compared to the RS. Just wondering as I'm ordering this week. I like the button positions on the GTE.

I dont think there are any lost buttons on the GTE. There are 6 press buttons and the rocker bottom right is up for options, down for share and push for PS button. L3 and R3 are on the base unit. plus there is a D-pad on the left of both wheels. So I think they have the same amount of buttons. (I have the GTE and have not had a problem reprogramming the buttons in any game.).

I think what people was saying, if you wanted to change the wheel to a proper race wheel, you would only lose the d pad on the GTE wheel, but im sure it could be modded to take the d pad.

@Zakspeed_TV
You don't lose any buttons, even the share button is on the GTE rim. Turning the switch on the lower right to 2 is your Select(PS3) / Share(PS4) button.

All I was stating is that I won't be modding my RS wheel. Simply because I will lose the X, O etc buttons and it would be a pain to either drill holes for them or rewire them completely. The GTE is a much easier wheel to mod in that regard, as you'd only lose the D-Pad...

Once I've got myself the TH8A shifter, I may then look to buying the GTE rim separately, then mod that using a real wheel. As this isn't exactly top priority, I'll do it when I have some spare cash floating around.

Yes mate the RS is to much to mod really, i have the GTE so it would be much easier, just would need a hole drilling for d pad and mounting holes. Im on the look out for a cheap second hand on to try first 👍

If you could do that yourself (hole drilling) then that's definitely an option. It is just one circle, which is a great design for it! :D Could have been much worse if they made the D-Pad cross shaped.

Let me know how it goes if you do mod it mate.

Yeah will do mate 👍

Wish there was a dail wheel on the t300, like the red one the DFGT had. It was easy to set up things in the tuning menu on the fly.

I bought mt T300 GTE in Nov last year and had to re calibrate the pedals. It was an easy 5 min job and had no problems since having covered 10.000 miles already.

Well worth the money would reccomend one to anybody even if you have to calibrate the pedals

Is this something you did with the drivers/firmware? I thought calibrating the pedals was a simple matter of pressing them full travel when starting up the game.

You're right. I guess he means taking the pedals apart and adjusting the potentiometer to get rid of the deadzone.

You plug the usb into a pc and download the software from TM set the pots to how you like, there is a large thread somewhere here i will look for it

Check out this thread, Loads in there and a few hours reading LOL

Ive copied this

Ok, so I decided to get the T300RS on Friday as it went down to £230 on Friday at Amazon and I wanted a wheel to use with my PS4.

I also found my pedals had big deadzones - almost 50% on the brake pedal.

I just took them apart, adjusted the potentiometers so they were further round when initially engaged by the pedals and that has sorted it out. Only a tiny deadzone at the top of the break pedal now.

That will keep me going until I get my CPX adapter to use my CSR Elite pedals with the wheel.

A few pointers if you're going to do the same:
1 - watch out for the screw under the cable entry point when taking them apart, it's easy to miss
2 - when you adjust the pots, place the pedal base on the ground and test that the full throw of the pedal is still able to adjust the pot position
3 - you'll need to take the metal pedal faces off before dismantling the base
4 - when putting it back together, you'll need to make sure you get the facia past the second spring on the brake pedal so it doesn't snag

Apart from that all seems good now!

Coming from a fanatec csr with elite pedals, I would say:

1 - the t300 is a great feeling wheel, much smoother, quieter and more rugged built
2 - there is plenty of power in the feedback
3 - the pedals are nowhere near as good as the csr elites but better than those on my old Logitech dfgt
4 - driveclub force feedback is ok but not brilliant - I'm looking forward to project cars to really see what the wheel is capable of

ok
so I have resigned myself to forget my logitech dfgt (except if some ps4 adaptator with real FFB come)
and like all of us i am waiting for news concerning the new release date of project cars
and i will save money until mid May in order to purchase a new wheel (thustmaster or nothing...)

Ya, was just talking about the PC Version. There is a new article on eurogamer about the issue:

Oh boy, this is only speculation at this point, but some people would be very unhappy if this were true (@VBR):

"Exclusivity deals are nothing new for the video game industry. We see it all the time when it comes to games. And that extends to peripherals. So is it simply the case that Thrustmaster threw money at Sony to secure exclusivity?

"It's a possibility," Jackermeier [Fanatec CEO] said. "But looking at the balance sheet of Thrustmaster, I'm not sure they're in a position to do that. Would Sony do that for money? I think it's a more complex issue. It could be even that Kazunori Yamauchi is involved and he says only Gran Turismo-licensed wheels should be supported. Or whatever. It's some policy thing internally. I can only speculate. There's no reason given either to me or the public."

There's nothing new in that article, just the same speculation that's been going on ever since we found out about this issue. The whole thing stinks imo, & it's making me feel ill.

I didn't notice the date on the article:ill:

Interesting though that he mentions Kaz's name as possibly pulling the strings behind the scenes. What an epic burn that would be for GT fanboys. :dopey:

A very interesting response by the Project CARS twitter account today to a question regarding wheel compatibility for the PS4...

Does this mean what I think it does that there is the possibility for more brands than just Thrustmaster in the wheel game for PS4?

Could mean a lot of things including just keeping the door open for future changes. After all, if the answer was an outright "yes", that would imply they can see into the future. We already know Fanatec is working on a wheel for the XBone, it could very well be they are working on one for PS4 as well.

Actually, I was wrong; there is something in the article that I hadn't considered. Thrustmaster have a license to make wheels for the PS4, & as they pointed out that includes being granted permissiion to make older wheels work on PS4 without the need for a security chip. Likewise, it seems that if Fanatec are granted a license for PS4 to make rims with security chips, they also would be granted permission to write a driver to support their older wheels.

Conclusion; if Sony are gonna make the granting of backwards compatibility entirely dependent on making new wheels with security chips, so that a manufacturer can get permission to write a driver for their older wheels, then Logitech are not gonna be able to get such permission as they've said they do not intend to make any new wheels for consoles.

Again, this is all just speculation. We'll have to wait & see how things pan out to see what actually ends up happening.
