And the price of Fanatec wheels on ebay will now skyrocket! Or, nobody will be selling them at all cos they're now compatible with PS4.

which ones are going to be compatible, all of them, or will there be a new wheel?

EDIT//

Just seen the PCars support list:

Fanatec Porsche 911 Turbo S
Fanatec Porsche 911 GT2
Fanatec Porsche 911 GT3 v2
Fanatec CSR (+ Pedals)
Fanatec CSR Elite (+ Pedals)Fanatec ClubSport Wheel Base
Fanatec ClubSport Wheel Base v2

So Fanatec now work on ps4? When they Have never on a Sony console before?

Does this also disprove logitech excuse of needing a security chip

This just got interesting.

I think it will be somewhat likely now that we'll get Logitech support on the PS4.

If memory serves, the reason why Fanatec wheels worked in games like GT on the PS3 is because they used Logitech drivers apparently. So what's gonna drive them on the PS4? The same Logitech drivers?

I feel sorry for the Xbone owners with Fanatec legacy wheels though. Saw no compatibility there for the CSRs and Porsche Wheels.

Support is different to us asking them to develop a brand new wheel

PS4/XBONE support was never a feature of the Logitech wheels. Why would they spend money on supporting a new platform that will in turn cost more money for them to support over time? And why would they do this for products they dont make anymore?

Neither was Fanatec at first yet look now

Maybe because the wheels were widely sold and because it is a huge request from customers of these wheels? Though they're apparently not being made anymore then why are plenty still being sold brand new and are even shown on the Logitech site?

Sony also may be losing potential customers for PS4 because of something like wheel support. So in order to keep such, Sony is gonna pay up for that support

I don't know what to think now. Did they have to wait that bloody long to inform us that they would be compatible in the end...

All this BS about a security chip

Maybe because people don't want to upgrade to a new wheel when their legacy wheels work perfectly fine. If SMS can get legacy Fanatec wheels to work on PS4, there's no reason why they can't at least try and get legacy Logitechs to work as well.

Some people don't don't like having their hand forced when it comes to hardware unless they're truly desperate.

As has always been the case. If you want a Logitech wheel to work on PS4 you would have to pay them to make a driver.

I just say: Don't get your hopes high on logitech. I would certainly be pleasantly surprised if i will be proven wrong one day.

That security chip stuff I imagine is still true, only T300 wheels have full PS4 support. I just hope Logitech provide drivers to work on pCARS as I returned my T300 today as it was a used one instead of a new one and had scratches on it. I am going to wait a while and hope for a better T300 package before buying again.

The T500 and T100 don't but they are compatible but not fully like the T300. Sony said this will be the case from the start regarding wheels and fightsticks: Link
We'll see with this Fanatec announcement, if they work fine in both the menu's and during races the chip excuse is BS for sure.

The Thrustmaster wheels such as T500 and T100 don't regarding system menus so I doubt the Fanatec wheels would, maybe the CSW could with a dedicated wheel PS4 licensed add-on though. Good thing though is no Logitech emulation it seems so should use native drivers to get best out of FFB. Hopefully also GT7 will support it natively too and Driveclub adds support.

Not gonna happen because Logitech is not in the FFB Wheel business anymore.

Not true. They pulled out of the console peripheral market, not the FFB wheel market. If Logitech they can add support for their existing range of wheels, just like Fanatec have now done, I don't see any reason why they wouldn't. After all, the more platforms their wheels work on, the more they'll sell.

This is awesome news! So glad I keep pushing off buying a new wheel for my ps4.

When they say the Fanatec CSR is that this one?

This brings so many more options in a much better price range.

I assume Fanatec have gotten their drivers added into the PS4 OS or have been directly written into pCARS code itself, which is enough for in game support from pCARS.

The fact that you need to put the wheel into PC mode rather than PS3 mode means it's not running as a Logitech compatible wheel but using Fanatec native drivers.

The wheels without "PS4 chip" don't work outside of the game. You can't use them to operate the PS4 OS.
Hence why i said that if fanatec's do work in menu's the security chip story is BS?

This is nice to know - sad but still nice to know. If they were using the PS3 mode one could assume that logitech will be supported as well very soon.
