Project CARS - Logitech Wheels NOT Supported on PS4

Yeah, I suppose so. But in the end they're hurting themselves and the customers.

Maybe Fanatech wanted this to keep secret until now? They had no other choise. It's better to announce a deal when everything already works instead of announcing something and they may not be able to deliver (I remember CS:GO was announced for PS3 also. After two delays they never talked about it again)

So once again this “security chip” nonsense I proven to be fake, isn’t it? I mean how can a wheel that’s two or three years older than the PS4 have such a chip?

I apologize if this has been asked before, but with Fanatec included, which of their wheels would be cheaper but on par if not slightly worse in terms of FFB to the T300rs.

And how good are Fanatec wheels?

Good question want to know too :)

Also; come on Logitech move your ass and work on drivers too! It's the only one left out!

Interesting from @amar212

Well, another small detail:

Dates are interesting.

It has been exactly 17 months since Thrustmaster has announced its deal with SCEE:
http://www.thrustmaster.com/en_UK/ne...ainment-europe

And it will be roughly 18 months (give or take 10 days) when pCARS releases on PS4.

It was maybe an 18-month exclusivity deal for Thrustmaster for PS4.

On April 21st it will be exactly 18 month since above official partnership has been formally announced.

so has CARS been delayed to get wheel support day one? is this evidence that there was indeed a Thrustmaster exclusive license?

Stay tuned folks the plot thickens /theme song outro

Dates are indeed "interesting", but no. If this was the reason, why did they have 2 short delays instead of one? If they know that the TM deal will end in April, the march to april delay would not make sense. And why shouldn't they sell the game in march (or november 2014 as it was planned) saying "Don't worry Fanatech users, support will come with the end of april?"

Here we go again. Yes a one and a half year deal with SCEE is great for business. Let go of them conspiracies/hypothesis and welcome back to earth.

Just proves it to be true.

Probably best options are GT3 RS V2 or CSR regarding price, anything above seems getting into T300 price or a lot higher and I think the T300 is considered a huge step up from the mentioned wheels so value wise new I think the T300 is much better if buying new. I haven't used a Fanatec wheel before but going by what I heard about them in comparison.

Thrustmaster T80 and T300 still remain only officially-licensed wheels from them, remains to be seen if Fanatec also release one. Venom Hurricane Steering Wheel is officially-licensed before 18 months so nothing points to exclusivity in that article and if it was for 18 months Venom wouldn't been allowed to release their wheel.

They sure did give us the impression they meant full support. Like i said before i don't think people would have gone out and bought expensive pc's or T300's just because they can't use their wheels on the PS4 XMB...
This was so poorly handled it's laughable. Hundreds of thousands of fans who are going to spend hundreds of millions of dollars gaming and you can't get a crystal clear answer from anyone about the security chip and what will and won't work with the new consoles. That alone is reason enough to make the switch to pc IMO.

But obviously support is possible without it (if it even exists).
Yes, support like T500 has existed for a while, good to see Fanatec getting support and hopefully Logitech will follow sometime soon. Then I can wait it out a bit longer for GT7 to see if any new wheel package will be made like the T500RS.

They only said full support wasn't possible due to that chip but working on still supporting wheel. It was always a question of wait and see, still the case with Logitech unless they announce there won't be any support. I think even you said you will wait a while but you decided to go PC.

I bought a T300 because it is considered a step up and also for PS4 navigation, it is really useful for example saving gameplay videos. I will buy one again probably when GT7 comes out and hopefully by then it will be more reliable and there are even better deals on it. Driveclub drives great with DS4, pCARS also drives quite well with controller and I also have access to it on PC so don't really see need at moment to buy again.

Yeah pretty sure both Sony or the devs could have come out and said all they needed was a bloody driver ages ago. I guess the one party that has benefited from the confusion and miscommunication was Thrustmaster.. Break out the tin foil hats gentlemen!

AFAIK, there was no clear, definitive statement on this from Sony, all I recall was bits and pieces of statements from SMS, Logitech, Fanatec and others, but the clear direction and definition of what is and isn't possible should have come from Sony and MS of course, instead of leaving gamers to guess and speculate. If this statement from Sony or MS is out there, can someone link it?

the only official statement from Sony
Will PS3 peripherals such as fighting sticks and steering wheels work with PS4?
Generally speaking, no. However, at launch, users will be able to use these controllers if a specific game title allows it to be used within the game. This decision is upon the game developer and will vary from game to game.

And then we all got hyped until the devs stated it depends on Sony
