Project CARS - Logitech Wheels NOT Supported on PS4

Damn, you're right. Then wheel manufacturers stated it depends on Sony!

Maybe I'm missing something but to me it rather makes sense:

Sony seems to be telling us that officially they will only support wheels (and other peripherals) if they have THE chip, and therefore let it interact with the XMB. But also that if manufacturers and devs get together, they (the devs) will be able to support other wheels in game. Which SMS and Fanatec did.

It's then up to Fanatec to have a sensible business model that allows them to provide the same drivers to more devs (I wouldn't expect SMS not to play ball).

My 20p about Kaz supposedly hinting at a Logitech support for GT7 is that PD were prepared to write the drivers themselves (with or without the help of Logitech). Or at least that he had a dream about it and was going to check with the appropriate people but talked about it to a member of the public first (which wouldn't be a first...).

Just a theory!

Welp, guess waiting is definitely good, maybe more waiting (Hopefully not too much) will result in me using my G27 on my PS4.

Kinda makes Kaz's statements that day to that Neogaf user a bit more believable now. I guess wishful thinking will bring about the good things soon :)

All the people who are complaining that the company screwed them over.. they had always said they were working on adding more wheel support.

It is not SMS fault you jumped the gun and sold your stuff and bought new stuff before the game was released.

Sorry but it is true. They did it right.. just because you ignored the statements it is not their fault.

THIS.

Even Evo Studios said the same for Driveclub.

Hence another reason why I waited. Things were still up in the air

I was the Neogaf user at Sema who chatted with Kaz and Translator san. They were not vague, they specifically said that my G25 wheel would work with GT7 on PS4.

I told Kaz i was thinking on buying the T500RS wheel and he told me i didn´t needed, only if i wanted an upgrade. I then talked a little bit with translator san about it, and they were very certain that this was not going to be an issue.

Buying Fanatec wheels here in Brazil is prohibitive and very hard to find, even online. I want to play Pcars properly, so hopefully they get things done until may, because if i have to wait until GT7 for Logitech drivers... then it´s a horrible situation, because this means 2017 until i can use my G25 on the PS4, which would be terrible.

And that's assuming it can be implemented/shared generally and not on a per-game basis.

@Spitfire77 'adding more wheel support' could also mean release new compatible wheels. Can't hold people responsible for jumping the gun if they were made to wait for years...
I'm sure you have mixed feelings. On one hand you could have saved the money, but with no given time frame that might have meant to wait indefinitely. On the other hand, you now have a great PC, AC and also Project CARS when it comes out, plus whatever else you want to add to your collection.

And I said it before: hindsight is always 20/20.

The term "jumping the gun" means they did a false start.. as in they made a mistake. So yes.. getting impatient and spending money too early is your own fault.

Also making false assumptions that they meant future wheels is also not SMS's fault.

I was very close to buying a T300 multiple times... but that would have been my fault for buying something with out being 100% sure yet.

The thing you can be frustraited with SMS is the game delays.. but that is a different story.

It's only a mistake if you regret it afterwards. ;) Pretty sure there are plenty of people quite happy they made the switch, regardless of wether any wheels are made compatible later in time.

Oh yes of course, the T300 is supposed to be a great wheel.. and those who built a gaming pc have many great options now. - but these people are not complaining. 👍

Edit -Meaning the ones that are happy with it are not complaining..

@Spitfire77 I'm not blaming SMS at all, more Sony as it's their console and they know how it functions, so they could have been clear from the start stating only drivers were needed. But as @NLxAROSA says this whole circus only brought about good things as I went for a PC.

Ah my mistake - but I think Sony only said a chip was required for Full functionality and that drivers could be created. Logitech were the ones using the excuse of the chip being required though it was known it was not as the T500 worked.

Yes it is a mess.. and I am glad you are enjoying the PC as you now have many more options.

Logitech were saying that for full functionality and not using as an excuse to not support wheel on PS4. It has been quite a clear situation to me so far whether for wheels or fight sticks.

If Sony said it is impossible, Logitech and Fanatec said it is also not possible then I could understand why people will not be happy if decision was changed after going a different direction but they have been as upfront as possible about it.

So you were convinced from the start just by that one statement that it depends on the devs?
Yes, that is why I still keep hope that Logitech will get supported and also more statements by them. Logitech have never ruled it out and until then, I remain hopeful. T500RS and T100 work without the chip so it is keeping true to what Sony said from the start. Here is a link to article about a developer working on PS3 fight stick support: Link and recently an upcoming game confirmed to use it: Link.

Well you have a point it was said, but due to the waiting and all round speculation i didn't have much confidence in it anymore.

So once again this “security chip” nonsense I proven to be fake, isn’t it? I mean how can a wheel that’s two or three years older than the PS4 have such a chip?

You need the chip to have total controll on PS4 including the UI Any wheel without it will only work ingame (and only if drivers are supplied)and not on the PS4 UI also the share button works only with a chipped wheel, Had you read all the posts you would have known this by now. :)

So I need a "place" on my rig (t300) to hang the ds4 to control ps4 ui?! Oh boy, beer holder, ds4 holder, headset holder... what's next?! :D

Btw: I don't like the idea of connecting my px44 headset to the ds4 (where do I put it?!) to have chat conversations and ingame sound during races!

I'm from Curitiba. Nice to find that the famous guy is a countryman.

I bought a T500RS. Didn't want to take any risks. Besides, GT7 should come out in 2017. Two years from now, my G27 would be a 6 years old piece of hardware, prone to all sorts of disappointments.

And, guys, Kaz says a lot of things...

A little wood-construction and some Lego and here you go! Cup holder, Keyboard holder (extentable for phone as 2nd screen), place for my laptop and controller :D

:) No more wood. I had that before. It's all solid metal now. I want to go serious. :P

Its not a Rene Rast rig, but I'm trying! :D

Are you planing to use the controller to get audio to your headset? There is another option.. I have not tried it as I bought a playstation gold wireless headset, but have read everwhere that it works.

You plug a usb to 3.5mm jack into the front of the ps4 and hook your headset to it. If you need more length get 3.5mm audio cable extensions.

Thank you, mate!! Seems like I have to import it. Its not on Amazon.de. Will check for other european websites.
