Project CARS - Logitech Wheels NOT Supported on PS4

Was untrue even before, since the T500 is working just fine on PS4. And every function that exists as a hardware can also be implemented in software.
Not really. If security chips were required, what part of a racing wheel's electronics would have been capable of encrypting and decrypting data in real time? They don't have multi-purpose CPUs in there that can handle any sort of task.

That software solution would obviously have to run on the console, in the driver. Its still true, any hardware can also be implemented in software or the other way around. But since this is a theoretical question we don't really need to dig into it :)

I got my head turned around (mind twisted) by thinking and hoping for Logitech support for month.
So I decided to sell my DFGT and get a t300. Saves me a lot of mind trouble and it's fun even in gt5 where ffb isn't that great.
Think about it.

I got a brand new G27 (still sealed in the box), & would sure like to use it on Project CARS. If not, I'll buy a T300RS but only if I can get one & a second hand PS4 for under £300.

Finding a cheap second hand PS4 is very tricky, all the cheap ones I've come across have turned out to be scams!

COME ON LOGITECH, GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER!!!
Fanatec have done it already, why can't you?

:(

Shop around dude, you can get PS4 for under £300 Brand new. If your wanting second hand try Amazon UK

The security chip is only used in the share button ingame. Not needed for driving No games loaded then wheel wont work the Sony menu you need to use the DS4 pad

If it's on the console, you're basically writing a hack that is disabling or circumventing the use of a security chip requirement in the first place. I doubt Sony would allow developers to do this, and it also brings into question how robust their entire security architecture is in the first place, not to mention the point of adding one at all.

You misunderstand, my £300 budget includes a PS4 & a new wheel.

Ah sorry Yes I did misunderstand. With that budget you are looking at a T80 bungee wheel and secondhand PS4 very tight and T80 isnt a great wheel.I feel your pain dude. My PS4 T330 GTE and games came in just over £700 If i had known about all the PS4 issues before I would have built a PC and used my now redundent DFGT (note to myself, "do more research next time") still I did end up with a far superia wheel to the |DFGT

I won't ever be buying a T80 - NEVER EVER!!! :yuck:

I was planning on getting a faulty PS4 for about £100 & fixing it myself, then spending the other £200 on a T300RS. Zavvi & The Hut have them for £189, but they're out of stock.

Finding a suitable PS4 is proving very hard indeed, so maybe I'll go back to plan A & wait for Logitech to sort out some drivers for Project CARS, or just stick to PS3 & GT6.

The very last option is so sad...

some crowdfunding? If people will hear you are going to be stuck with GT6 i'm sure many wallets will spontaneously open

Seriously, since a few weeks I am contemplating with starting to collect money and donate a PS4+T300+PCars to GTPs very own @praiano63. He has done so much for this community with his GT setups and was running one of the friendliest and interesting threads/tuning garages here. I really wish for him to be able to do his magic on PCars too.

Depressing even :(

@VBR why don't you do some crowdfunding? If people will hear you are going to be stuck with GT6 i'm sure many wallets will spontaneously open

As much as I feel sad but @VBR will be better off being offered some extra income opportunites so that will make it much more rewarding to earn towards a new set of wheels + PS4. I did exactly the same, took up extra paid work for a few months before spending on wheels, PS4, PC upgrades etc.

Anyone one want to help @VBR and offer him some paid work? We want to see him on the track. PM him. ;)

If I had spare cash I would donate. Unfortunately I have to plan out my monthly pension well in advance.
Tell you what though I have a DFGT for sale in the sale section If that gets sold I will donate the proceeds

Good! I will collect responses to my suggestion and we'll see what will be possible once the game is out.

Update on the praiano idea:

Please PM me in case you want to participate in the collective effort, i've already got some promising responses!

Just did taxes.. and getting a nice return. Spoke with the wife. She is taking a trip to visit a friend and I am getting more money towards my PS4 racing wheel.

Now that the money is not so tight.. I can afford one of the two options.

Fanatec GT3 v2 with CRS elite pedals and CSR shifter kit - OK wheel non removable wheel, but better pedals, and low end shifters.

OR

Thrustmaster T300 - with basic pedals and no shifter option. - Better base, no shifter, lower end pedals

Project Cars needs to come out so I can read reviews on how well each one works. Getting the itch but must not rush this...

Edit - I am also getting a new wheel stand but will figure that out later...

You'll miss the quality pedals (clutch) and the shifter going for the T300. I would also prefer the CSR over the GT3. Might be just my case but the rumble sounds a bit louder than with the CSR and it's a bit more difficult to distinguish the buttons. GT3 is prettier though.

Regarding wheelstands, the wheelstandpro comes highly recommendable 👍

the difference in price of the GT3 over the CSR allows me to get the csr shifter kit.. I am ok with marking buttons on my own as well.

I take all the advice I get here into consideration though so thank you - and yes I have been seeing to pay the extra money for the wheel stand pro over the fanatec wheel stand - but read there are a few adjustments you can make to the fanatec to get it up to par and save nearly $100.

Edit - Just realized I have $40 credit at amazon as well.. so that would drop the price of the T300.. and free shipping with amazon.

Aren't they both around the same price mark?

The brushless motor in the T300 is a quite a thing. A good thing. A T300 + an order for a CPX adapter from Basher Boards (GTP's Mr Basher) with a view to getting some Fanatec pedals in the future might be an option.
