Thanks for the comments guys, but I already have enough money to buy a PS4 & a new wheel plus Project CARS. The thing is that the money is being saved & put aside for more important things. Project CARS is great, for sure, but there are other things in life that take precedent.

Not from the prices I have seen.. the Wheelstand pro delux v2 for either wheel is $179 and the Fanatec wheel stand is only $89
Ah yes went to take a look and it's the shipping costs that make it costly to send it to the states. Us Europeans pay 54 euros less because of it. The Fanatec is with shipping included?

Hi Folks, i'm a returning user of the Forum after a long break from sim racing. finally found a thread on this and i'm not reading through the old posts so here goes..

As of April 2015 will i be able to use my much loved G27 race wheel with Project cars or do i need to sell it and upgrade (if thats the right word) to Fanatec which are considered to be the best?

thanks in advance guys !

When you say you come from sim racing, I suspect you will buy this game for pc? In this case, yes you can use it. If not, here is an overview of all (currently) working wheels: http://www.projectcarsgame.com/beyond-reality.html

No sorry PS4, i used to come on this Forum and race with a group of guys (ORDL) ages ago on Gran Turismo 5.. Anyway i took a break and got rid of my home made rig but i still have the wheel.. Probably a question for another thread but if i was to sell my G27 (which i absolutely loved!) what is regarded as the best "Kit" at the moment?

Thanks for the link i hadn't spotted it.. man it sucks but fingers crossed for the future i guess.

Well here are some people that would recommend the T300 from Thrustmaster. I have the T500, which is not fully PS4 compatible but it works ingame. Also, the T500 comes with better pedals. From what I've read here, T300 is a little bit better (only read the last 2 pages of this thread). As the T300 Pedals are not sooo good, I would go with the T500. I had the G27 before and it is more than one step up from G27 to T500

If you have a lot of money...Fanatec came out with a universal wheel hub today, allowing the CSW (V2) to be used on any platform, PS4/XBONE/PC. A CSW wheelbase, wheelhub together with a rim will set you back more than 1100€. Add in pedals and a shifter from them and you'll be looking at 1500+€ to invest.

mmmh... So nothing new for around 200s, nothing new for lower end. I guess i'll have to get a T300 someday when the game is out...

There has been no announcement as of yet whether Logitech wheels will work in Project CARS. However, recently there was one that came out of the blue regarding Fanatec, so there is a possibility that Logitech wheels may become compatible in the future. I have an old G25 & a brand new G27, so am hoping that they will work at some point.

You could get a T300RS or a T500RS & use your existing G27 pedals via an adapter.

You could pick up one of the Fanatec wheels & use your G27 pedals via an adapter.

It all depends what your budget is & what you want to get out of it.

I checked - here are the actual prices with tax and shipping.

Wheel stand pro (from amazon) $203.49

Fanatec CSL Wheel stand shipped to southern california - $115.38

$88 difference

If you order from their site directly it's 179 $ with shipping to the US included, buy indeed even a 64 $ difference makes the choice easy :)

Another option no one has mentioned in your replies is that you can buy the T300 and buy either of the add on pedals T3PA which have an adjustable brake mod and a clutch or the T3PA PRO. which have that and more. Then the TH8A H pattern shifter is an option if you want to save up later (or splash out early like me)

Wow, so many looking to upgrade their hardware. With the cost a of new wheel, pedals, shifters and those that want to upgrade to PS4 things start to get expensive.
Add in the cost to buy the game and online subscription and your left with a hefty bill that could easily buy a decent gaming rig that would run the game with better visuals than you will get on console, plus you can use your existing wheel.

Regarding the G25, can I use the shifter as well as the brakes using the adapter? and how much will the adapter cost?

You are right. But you forget one point: the advantage of a new wheel over the old one. Take that into consideration too.

I think most of the users in here already have a ps4. So it's just the costs of the new wheel and pedals. and if you sell the old one like I did, it's not that expensive.

People tend to show the extremes!! ^^

Well as a DFGT and a T500rs owner all I can say to that is: don't waste your money.

Sure the T500 is a better wheel but not ÂŁ300 better. That's what I paid for it on release.
I had to return it to France when there was an issue with it and I went back to the DFGT which does the job just fine.
When my T500 came back it stayed in its box for over a year as my DFGT was more than capable. I used it for all the main PC sims, Iracing, RFactor 2 etc and only stopped using it recently when it finally failed after years of use.

I personally am not bothering with a PS4. Too expensive. PC is the way to go Imo.
All your current devices will work and you gain access to the best sims out there.
Last time I looked assetto Corsa, game stock car extreme, RFactor 2, Iracing and race room racing experience are not on console. And I have been playing pCars for nearly 2 years all with my existing
Wheels.
Sure I will probably pick up a PS4 on the cheap once GT7 lands but for now it's just not worth the money.

Hang on, I'm making sure I read it right.

So you had a T500 and you kept playing with the DFGT as you didn't feel there was much of a difference between the two?

:odd:

One of the strongest wheels, shipped with 3 reversible pedals, against the asthmatic DFGT*.

:odd:

I'll say no more.

* Respect will still be given where it is due. The DFGTserved me well for a few years but I also know, now, where it stands in the wheel world.

Well think about it. The wheel needs to get me around the track and let me feel what the car is doing right?
So where does the DFGT fail here?
It doesn't!
Sure the T500rs has better FFB. Higher resolution etc. But my lap times are comparable.
I can also run the same times in Iracing with the stock cheap DFGT pedals that I can with my set of Clubsport pedals which have a load cell brake.

Sure the more expensive stuff feels better but that's where it ends.
My advice here is that for anyone reading this thread that doesn't have a PS4 and is thinking about picking one up for pCars plus getting new hardware is don't waste your money.
Get a PC instead and use your existing wheel.
You will gain access to many more fantastic racers. Won't be tied to a platform that goes out of date and don't have to pay twice to play online.

I'll politely disagree. I get a better car control with my T300 than I could get with my DFGT, for example when oversteering.

My lap times have improved and enjoyment is at least as important as final results.
Fair enough. I'm Using my T500 now. It's better but not faster, at least for me. It really did sit in a box whilst I stuck with my DFGT. Hard to believe, but true.
I have been sim racing for years and I have learned not to believe all the marketing hype about new wheels and pedals. I guess it's a balance.

For anyone on a budget i would think twice before shelling out on a PS4 plus new wheel if yours isn't supported.
The better value option would be a PC and sticking with your current wheel and pedal setup.

I fully agree, My fault I didnt do the research and blundered into buying PS4, online subscription 3 games then when I decided to play DFGT didnt work so had to buy the T300 as well. Had I done the research I would have built a PC and used my DFGT for apr the same money.

Yes I know the T300 is better, But I was more than happy with the DFGT

The Thrustmaster wheel to G25 pedal adapter costs $19.95 here, however, it's only for the pedal set. An adapter for the shifter isn't available yet, but there is a work in progress.

I loved my DFGT too. My t300 pedals are really not a lot better, I agree. But the take the noise level both wheels make during heavy using... ^^

Using a ds3 or some third party gamepad made a difference to me, back in the days (just an example)!

That's not entirely true, it really depends where you live I guess.

I looked into both options a while ago, as I would much rather go the pc route, but for me the cheapest option for building a new gaming pc, with specs that wouldn't run pcars at max settings mind you, was over $1700aud. Compare that to $450 for a ps4, and a tad under $500 for a t300. Not to mention, I would want to upgrade my dfgt either way, as the ffb is pathetic, the pedals are fisher price quality and are failing (potentiometers play up all the time), and the wheel spins so slowly it's near impossible to drift with it. It's laughably unrealistic compared to the fanatec stuff I've used, and from all accounts the thrustmaster gear is even better (bar fanatec csw, but I haven't used one of those).

Fact is, for under $1000aud, which is what I'll get a brand new ps4 and t300 for, I couldn't get a good enough pc to run pcars unless I went for a second hand one, and if I did that I could be unleashing a whole world of problems onto myself.

Edit* I'll also add that I'm not keen on playing on a tiny pc monitor, and graphics cards with hdmi outputs are expensive, as are triple screen set ups.

I bought a perfectly capable gaming pc with a GTX960 for 700 euros from Ebay. That's a 1000 aussie dollars ;)

New? with everything required to play or just the tower?

Edit*
I've just checked out new options on ebay, and found some better options than I had looking at pc store websites. Cheapest I found was $1200, but that was just the tower, and no OS. It costs another $140 for it to come with Windows 7, and then I'd have to buy a cheap mouse and keyboard to go with it. It has a gtx970, so I could hook it up to my tv via hdmi, so I wouldn't be too fussed about getting a monitor right away.

Still, that's $1370, which is pretty much my whole budget. a ps4 is $450. As I said, I want to get a new wheel, as the dfgt just sucks, so if I get a pc, I'm blowing all my budget on the machine, and I'll be stuck with my dfgt, which is likely living on borrowed time lol. If I get a ps4, I won't have access to a few awesome sims, but I will have $900 left over to buy a wheel and a good amount of games. I guess the pc option can wait until I'm a little more cashed up in future.

If you're using the G25/27 shifter on pc with the T300 (which I might), Leo Bodnar has an adapter that turns the shifter into a standalone device. Obviously that won't work on the PS4.

New yes, i had to spend 100 bucks extra on an OS (you can find windows 7 for 25€), wireless keyboard, USB receiver for my 360 pads and an ethernet cable.
Still, i prefer laying down 800 all included for a gaming pc than for a console + thrustmaster.

Don't forget on a console you have to buy the online subscription and an extra pad also (if you have mates), so it's basically the same price yet i never have to worry about compatibility anymore and i can play the best racing sims.
But if you really want a new wheel then i guess for you the PS4 option is the one.
