I'm just glad I never forked out for a G series wheel. The dfgt I have sucks, so I had considered upgrading a while ago, but never got around to it, it was pretty low on the priority list. Glad I didn't, as I'd prefer a fanatec or thrustmaster wheel anyway, and I'd prefer something that can be used on console and pc.
To be fair Logitech wheels all work on PC. So have you made the new investment on getting the new wheel?

No I haven't. I was only considering upgrading to a g27 because they are better than the dfgt, but still inexpensive, and worked with ps3 and pc. I'm glad I didn't, as I don't have a good pc at the moment, and plan on buying a ps4, because it's significantly cheaper than a half decent pc, so I would want a wheel that would work on both ps4 and pc. Even if I had the money to buy a new pc, I wouldn't want to use my dfgt, because it feels like a cheap toy. G27s aren't much better.

Better to invest on a wheel now to given our dollar is so low the next batch of stock will be expensive. So are you getting a T300RS since you want a PS4/PC support?

Yeah that's what I figure too. PCs will continue to get better and better and I'll always have the option to get one whenever I'm (or my wallet is) ready. Considering I was looking at g27s years ago, and the retail price now is still the same, I don't see wheels getting significantly cheaper, like consoles and pcs do. I'll get a T300, and in future I plan to go for clubsport v2 pedals, with an adaptor to use them on ps4 with the t300 base, and a th8a.

My girlfriend actually told me a couple of days ago that she planned on buying me a ps4, don't ask me why, but I'm not about to complain or argue the point with her lol. So I guess I'm lucky there that I won't have that expense now, and I'll probably put that part of my budget into my real car, as it could do with new front rotors and pads.

Yes, they're simply not made from high tech parts. The only real thing that's going to affect prices is quality and to which a degree they can be mass produced and sold.

Does the pedal upgrade for the t300 work/compatible with the PS4? and are their any other choices for pedals?

Yeah, the adaptor essentially makes the wheel base think the pedals are thrustmaster ones, so it should work fine.

So far I have heard:

It's Sony's fault - they have built in security that renders the Logitech wheels useless unless they pay some sort of lisencing fee.

It's Logitech's fault - they won't come out with new drivers because they don't care about the countless wheel owners in the console market.

It's the game developers fault - it's up to them if they want to make the wheels useable with their game. If they have a $$ deal with another company, who cares about Logitech.

And lastly I heard Kaz will fix it all some magical day when GT7 sees the light of day.

They all seem somewhat believable and completely preposterous at the same time. Just passing the blame. It's all irritating none the less!

Thank you for you insightful summary. We can end this thread now

Since last month and fanatech announce we know where is the fault and where the ball dropped. It's logitech, case closed.

Many were fooled by their excuses probably made up by their marketing division that put blame on sony to avoid customers complains after they chosew to quit console market, but fanatech showed how much of liars they were.

We can move forward now.

(or just the last few lines)

Exactly, it is all about money people... and to have logitech functioning on the ps4 makes hardly anyone any money because Sony will have to pay out big bucks.. logitech wont gain hardly any sales so they wont allow it to happen without Sony paying them. Sony knows the payment to immersion/logitech won't be recovered by the number of game/system sales increased by logitech wheels working on the ps4..

People always ask why the drivers for the flight sticks are allowed.. well they don't use the immersion tech from what I understand.

Edit - there is also a part in there about M$ suing if Immersion stuff works on ps4 as well..

2 hours after a "meeting" involving "secrets, but good ones;-)", Andy Tudor tweets a "Here comes a new challenger!" displaying a new Logitech keyboard.:ouch:

[/wishful thinking]

So I'm planning to sell my DFGT ( Sadly ) so that I can buy myself a Thrustmaster wheel for the Playstation 4 when Project CARS comes out. Now, it's apparent that the T300RS is a better wheen than the T80RS, but given that there won't be a massive amount of driving games on the PS4 the wheel will be usable with ( Driveclub, PCARS, Seb Rally Evo, GT7 (?) ), I am reluctant to shell out too much on a high end wheel and go for the T80 instead.

Has anybody had experience with the T80? It's hard to get a definite opinion on the web and I'm hoping someone in here could shed some light on it.

If you want a wheel and will be happy with a wheel with no ffb then go for it but surely that's defeating the objective?

Look at the T100 if you really don't want a T300 but you won't be disappointed if you got a T300 let me tell you that

The T80 is not a FFB wheel and only has 200 degrees rotation so IMHO, not worthy of its use in pCARS. It uses a spring (bungee cord) centering device so whilst it will indeed steer your virtual cars, you'll have no 'feel' for what the car is doing on track.
I have the T300RS and find it excellent, better than the DFGT it has replaced. OK the standard pedals are not the best, but still they are functional and the good thing is, upgradeable to the better T3PA pro set when funds allow.

From what I've read the T100 isn't even as good as a dfgt so I wouldn't bother with either the T80 or T100 if I were you mate. Just bite the bullet and grab the 300, that's what I'm doing (I own a dfgt too, albeit one so heavily modded I wouldn't be able to sell it).

Wow! Still so many assumptions about what Logitech are not doing, when in reality nobody knows what's actually going on with them.

If they had something to bring out their sleeve it would be very stupid not to announce it. We ALL know what they are doing for they told us already "they went out of console peripherals market".

Anything else is whishful thinking and spreading false hopes around.

Aye, it is just wishful thinking that Logitech will support PS4 play.
Think about it, they'll have pay a licence fee to immersion (the actual licence owner of FFB technology) and possibly Sony to allow their wheels to be used.
As they are no longer supporting wheels for the console market, I really can't see why they'd do this, which won't be financially viable if they won't be selling any wheels (new or legacy ones) to recoup their outlay, unlike Fanatec who are still active in the console wheel market.

Another thing to think about: Logitechs last G25/G27 compatible driver package on the PC is from 2010. The newer packages do NOT support any wheel whatsoever. And they have had many, many, many driver package releases since then that support their other gaming devices, but not their wheels. Having a driver package that is 5 (!) years old today is not exactly a sign of activity, so even on the PC we're stuck with what's there...

Fanatec 'had something to bring out of their sleeve' & they didn't announce it while they were working on it (only once it was done), so that argument is invalid.

Just because Logitech have stopped making new wheels for the console market does not automatically mean they do not want to support their existing wheels on the PS4. They told us as much when they tweeted that they were still working on PS4 support (& that was after the announcement that they were to stop making wheels for consoles). You are reading way too much into the statement about pulling out of the console market.

I'm not spreading false hopes at all, just pointing out the futility of the black & white/all or nothing assumptions so prevalent in this thread.

Only time will tell whether Logitech are making drivers for game devs of PS4 games or not. To make absolutist statements either way is ridiculous. It was talk like this that encouraged some Fanatec wheel owners to sell theirs & buy Thrustmaster products. If only they had showed some patience & waited!

VBR, whilst I admire your optimism, I feel you're holding too much hope in your beliefs mate. Fanatec hasn't been hiding anything up their sleeves, they've just increased their chances of extra revenue. Like I pointed out earlier, Fanatec still actively support the console market so its in their best interests financially to get next gen console custom.
Logitech has no current interest in the console wheel market, therefore R&D into developing drivers and the cost of licence fees to allow their legacy wheels for use with next gen consoles is just not viable to increase profits.
Put it this way, can you see any multi national company spending time, effort and money to upgrade a product they no longer make / support if they can't make a profit on it ?

Fanatec didn't announce the final product until recently, but they announced last fall that they had signed a deal for XBone support and that it included the potential for backwards compatibility so we've known something was coming for several months.

These are what Logitech wheel owners are using
