Project CARS - Logitech Wheels NOT Supported on PS4

Logitech is supported on PC only because IMHO it's basically a big middle finger to console gamers.

It is all contracts, past lawsuits, etc.. all between Logitech, Immersion, Microsoft, and Sony. Logitech wont make enough money to cover the costs of making a new driver, Sony wont recoup the costs of paying out the contract for immersion (which I also think includes paying microsoft)

It is all about money (a lot of money) - it has nothing to do with grudges and petty nonsense.

ok last day before the launch of project cars, i will buy a thrustmaster ffb wheel... and let my DFGT for GT6 only...because i don't have enough money to buy a new powerfull pc only for project cars

definitely logitech disappointed me....bye bye

Wasn't aware of this. I own a G25 and a G27, both working perfectly. So it's simple:

It's cheaper to buy a PC (if indeed I need one, must check specs) and PCars (PC) ...

... than to buy a PS4 + Thrustmaster + PCars (PS4).

No PS4 for me then.

Immersion has licensed it's technology, but that licence is due to expire THIS FALL... Ok? Then Sony won't have to pay any money and then it will be only down to Logitec's will. They will do it then, BUT you have to wait...

They are forbiden from telling you this straight because it would violate that same contract. ;)

As my thumbs twittle with hope,I would venture to guess "it ain't going to happen anytime soon"
Oh well buy something new,lol from a guy driving a 65.

Interesting. :odd:

Where can I find this info?

I'm waiting patiently, I have plenty of other games to keep me busy anyway. 👍 I can only play one game at once.

Heres a question. If i had the skills, could i write a driver for logitech wheels for the ps4? And if so then what? Do i pass it onto devs? Will sony have problems with it? just curious

If you have the skills just do it and make it available online for free. It's nobody's problem but your own for not wanting money from your creation.

Sure because we can download and install non-certified drivers to my PS4.

Also assuming he doesn't get sued to hell in the process.

Well, thats why my brain was racing tbh. But how would that work on the ps4? on PC no problem.

...and the money.

Lots of it.
One problem at a time lol.

Yea this is what im trying to work out. The only option i presume would be to pass it on to devs with sonys clearance. Or perhaps it could be downloadable from the store

I've cancelled my Project Cars pre-order. I tried to play GT6 with a DS3 and I just couldn't do it. I have to use a wheels now or it's just not worth the effort, I therefore cannot face the idea of playing Project Cars with a DS4.

I'll buy the game only when Logitech support for PS4 is added, and if it isn't then it's no more race games for me on console.
I'm of the same mindset. Not shelling out $400 for a ps4, and another $400 for a wheel just to play one racing title!

If you guys think you cannot create your own software and run it on your own console you are starting to fear your own shadow.

Read this:

6.2 - "You must not"
6.3 - "You must not"
6.4 - "You must not"
6.5 - "To the fullest extent permitted by law, you must not ... blah blah blah .... create ...... blah blah blah "
6,6, - "You must not"

You know what this means? This means something fishy regarding 6.5. Something fishy as in "we can't tell you "YOU MUST NOT" so we're telling you that there are laws about it but we won't tell you what they say, BECAUSE THEY DON'T SAY WHAT WE'D LIKE THEM TO SAY"

SONY TOS
6. Limitations on Your Use of Software
SONY TOS
6.1. Your licence to use Software is a non-exclusive, non-transferrable licence to use the Software for private use only on the applicable Authorised Systems (as indicated on the box for Disc-Based Software, in the product description for Software Downloads or otherwise notified by us to you from time to time) and only in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, India, Russia and Oceania.

6.2. You must not use Software commercially, broadcast it, charge for its use or make other public performance of it without express permission from us and, if the publisher is another company, additionally from the publisher.

6.3. You must not lease, rent, sublicense, publish, modify, adapt, or translate any portion of the Software.

6.4. You must not emulate the Software.

6.5. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you must not reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any portion of the Software, or create any derivative works, or otherwise attempt to create source code from Software object code.

6.6. You must not use any means to bypass or disable any encryption, security, or authentication mechanism for the Authorised Systems or to gain unauthorised access or to interfere with any account, service, hardware, software or network connected to Sony Entertainment Network..

Anyway, this is futile as far as I'm concerned, I have no idea how to make a driver for a device to be recognized by another device ...

The problem lies in 6.6 because Sony doesn't give the user means to install drivers, so the users must 'break in'.

Needless to say the publisher of said driver would be in big problems with Sony if they posted it on the internet.

Also assuming that the USB device actually requires a system driver in order to function. Do we know that direct access to the controller's raw input data isn't possible? Did the singstar microphones require OS drivers, or does the singstar game just read the raw input from the microphones? Who knows. None of us, that's for sure.

Do you plan on playing any other racing games with Logitech products? Most new titles are not compatible with Logitech wheels. Most new titles will most likely be on PS4 Xbone. It sucks but thats the way its going.

The thing I'm struggling with is...

It's clearly possible for them to add drivers specifically in the software for pcars as in the case with Fanatec now. It wouldn't work for anything other than pcars obviously but right now not many would care.

I'm sure I read somewhere Logitech say the G25/27 is just a standard USB HiD device which I'm guessing can't be that hard to make work in game with pcars.

So why can't SMS or whoever approach Logitech and say can we use your drivers on PS4?

Annoys me that I still keep reading about security chips which clearly isn't the case (for in game use anyway) due to the Fanatec example.

I half wonder if Logitech were faffing about trying to get it to work on the PS4 natively rather than just at being able to supply a ps4 version of drivers to game developers which would personally suit me fine

As far as I know there aren't any other decent racing sims in the works. GT7 but who knows when that'll arrive, by then ps4 will have dropped in price, and perhaps someone will have a fix for using my existing wheel. I might play a motorcycle racing game of two til another worthy car sim pops up, but I'd just use a controller for that.

I have an old but fully operational G25 that doesn't work in P CARS on PS4. I have a brand new & sealed G27 which doesn't work with P CARS on PS4. I recently bought a Fanatec GT2 for day 1 compatibility which doesn't work in P CARS on PS4.

:banghead:   :( :ill: :irked:  :nervous: :ouch:  :scared: 👎 :yuck: :grumpy:

There are clearly a lot of us that want this resolved in favor of existing Logitech owners. I suggest that we ramp up/continue to pester SMS, Logitech and Sony on their websites, facebook, forums and twitter feeds. It will be so annoying they will have to address it directly (again yes, but hopefully less ambiguously and cut the BS this time) and take some action. It's bad PR for them to get bombarded publicly with this stuff when they are trying to market and buzz about their new releases and products. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. They'll have to do something besides the silent treatment..
