Project CARS - Logitech Wheels NOT Supported on PS4

I'm really hoping it comes with the next patch/update. It's killing me sitting here with a G27 and a PS4 reading how awesome the game is from everyone else. It's gonna take me at least a couple more months before I can afford a PC rig. If Logitech wheels get support I could go to Best Buy tonight and pick the game up. :banghead:

I wish I had waited. I rushed out & bought a second hand Fanatec wheel. I really don't like it very much at all, & it doesn't even work in P CARS at the moment.

Wouldn't it be ironic if we get an update for Logitech compatibility that works, while Fanatec wheels remain useless!

I hope it ends like this.....

One thing that amuses me is when someone already has a Logitech wheel and wants to play Pcars, he/she then goes out and buys a PS4 and then a new T300RS Thrustmaster wheel...Going by prices we pay here in NZ you've just spent over $1200 ! Why would people do that, when that $1200 could build you a pretty decent gaming PC which will work with your Logitech wheel and then also give you access to games like Assetto Corsa, iRacing, Rfactor, Dirt Rally....the list goes on.

If you sell your Logitech wheel and find some good deals on a PS4 and a T300 it would be cheaper, plus you won't have to sacrifice your gaming eco system, but a valid point if you're into sim racing only @noshog ?

Unfortunately here in NZ there are no good deals...everything is expensive :grumpy: The base model T300RS is $800 and the shifter and pedal upgrades are about $300 each :ouch:

But my points are not only valid to sim racing...You can get or use old console controllers that work on PC for playing other titles too, sure titles like GTA were delayed on PC but generally you can get most of your console favorites on PC too (and also access to the modding community). Then you can also consider things like Steam on the PC where you can pick up games for half the price we pay for the same console version....Well here in NZ anyway, where everything is expensive

Anyway all that is a bit off topic, so I will sit with the rest and hope some day Logitech will be supported on the PS4

How are you sacrificing your gaming ecosystem by going the pc route? You do realize there are for more games and far more variety on pc right? Games are also generally cheaper and you don't have to pay to play online. There are many advantages and some disadvantages to going the pc route, but your gaming ecosystem will remain intact and likely be much broader.

Sitting here playing the game with the controller while my G27 sits there plugged into the PS3. Almost after every race I think 'oh how much better that would have been with the wheel', this needs to be sorted quickly.

Im waiting on nzgameshop.co.nz to get the t300 back in stock. $529NZ with free delivery...

True, but looks at it this way, if your friends are console gamers you won't get to play online with them, plus I for one still need my fix of Naughty dog, Polyphony, MM, Sucker punch, etc. A lot of the best devs and games are exclusive.
Plus not many want to dive into the world of upgrading your gpu every 2-3 years (foe example)

I was looking for a good excuse to spend the money on upgrading from a DFGT anyway, so PCARS is it :D

Also for some reason, even though I can, and have, built PC's for myself and others I've always kept my gaming to consoles, I spend too much time on computers as it is, if I was gaming on them too I might as well just install a microwave on one side of my chair and coffee machine on the other and plug myself in permanently

That's a good price, probably cheapest I've seen in NZ...I would still want at least the pedal upgrade too though. But I'm not really in the market myself at least for another few years...I have a near new G27 bolted to my rig at the moment and a brand new unopened G27 in my cupboard :)

To be honest upgrading gpu every 2-3 years is not really required (unless you have to run ultra graphics settings on all the latest games). My PC build is 4years old now and can still run new releases like Pcars, Assetto Corso and Dirt Rally at mid-high settings across three screens, I can still get (give or take) 60fps too.
But yea I understand and appreciate your other points.

With a full racing rig and triple screens I dont have enough room for a microwave and coffee machine :(

Also, where console has gen change, pc still has gen change lite. On the downside, this means that people with beast computers are held back particularly by games that are cross platform, but on the upside, it keeps lower tier systems relevant for longer. There tends not to be a linear rise in the demands on the system for pc games basically.

Going sli or crossfire down the track can fill a gap pretty well and might only cost half as much as a new console. Another factor in the cost debate.

That's basically how I put my system together. Getting a big enough case to fit another GTX 970 at some point down the road when I need it is really the only upgrade I'm planning for several years. It'll be paid for simply by not having to pay for PSN and the cheaper game prices.

Let's keep harrassing Logitech on their support community forum: http://forums.logitech.com/t5/Logitech-G-Controllers/bd-p/pcgaming

;)

Just had a peek on there, it seems Logitech are still trotting out the old 'security chip' excuse :

Hi CJ3,
Unfortunately, the Driving Force GT is currently not supported by PlayStation 4. The Playstation 4 requires a security chip that the Driving Force GT does not have and this is the reason why it's not working. We are still trying to contact Sony about this and hopefully, we can have this addressed as soon as possible.

It seems to be the standard answer to any query regarding PS4 compatibility is "we are still working on it"
When the Logitech support guy gets called out on the security chip :

Dear ron02,
thank you for your support, however, I am questioning Logitech's claim that a security chip is needed for PS4 wheels.
The PS4 version of Project C.A.R.S. supports several Fanatec Wheels, like the "Fanatec Porsche 911 GT3 RS V2" wheel, which was released in 2009, long before the introduction of the Playstation 4. (1)
Hence, these wheels definitely don't have any PS4 security chip that you state necessary. This is NOT an hardware issue. Could you please clarify this fact?

he goes quiet !

You can always hold out hope that Logitech are indeed still "working on it" but to me, their lack of response to customers queries is pretty telling that they have very little interest in getting this matter sorted.

BS for many already had a PS4. Also how the F-word would you pile up to 1200? maybe wasting 500 on hookers? :D

With exchange rate, it comes out around the same cost as in the UK. However, can't get much of a gaming PC for under £600 here, certainly not enough to be a financial no-brainer.

@sems4arsenal comment about having the same platform as friends was the decisive factor for me in choosing to go PS4 + T300 instead of new PC.

Well after finding out my perfectly good G27 wouldn't work on PS4 I emailed Logitech and asked them directly what was going on with it to which I got the following response:

My name is Kenneth V., I understand that you would like assistance with your G27 Racing Wheel.

As for the moment, we currently don't have a definite timeframe on when our racing wheel will be supported on PS4. But yes, we are already on the process of incorporating our gaming wheel to PS4. But mainly we will be focusing on the G27 only and later model.

For future reference your case reference number is 00705258. This will allow us to quickly find the contact history when you need additional help. If we do not receive a reply, your support request will eventually be closed and set to "solved". A survey will be sent to you to gather your feedback.

To contact us by phone or obtain additional information (FAQ's, Forum, Manuals, etc.) please visit support.logitech.com

Best regards,

Seems kind of promising. What you guys think?

So, summing up, how many chances do you guys say we got? I hope I could play my DFGT on PS4

I'd say there's a 100% chance it eventually will happen. The only question is when exactly. PC isn't the only big racing title expected to move on PS4. Whenever GT7 comes out, Polyphony would be crazy to accept that Logitech wheels won't be supported on the console. The potential for lost sales will be far too great for Sony or Polyphony to accept.

All we know is that it got to this point because there's some legal arrangement preventing Logitech from getting access to program its wheels for the PS4. If Logitech can financially justify paying whatever sum to Sony, or whoever, in order to get the info they need to program their wheels for the PS4, than it will happen sooner rather than later. I think Sony, Logitech, and SMS are discussing the matter right now. It's in all of their best interests to support the players so they can individually sell consoles, games, and wheels.

But to answer your question, I'd personally guess there's a 75% chance it will happen before the Christmas selling season.

So...does anyone know if the DFGT is newer than the g27?!

Thanks you.

Let's wait then.

I'm sure nobody wants a GT7 on PS4 without having Logitech's wheels.

No. When the DFGT came out the G25 was available. The G27 came out later. They still sell both the DFGT and G27 though so they should add PS4 support for both.

I hope for you guys it happens but my impression is that it's going to be like the custom tracks on GT6: if it ever happens, it will be too late because most people will have moved on.

I'm still calling major BS until the parties involved come out and issue direct, 100% honest statements with none of this marketing nonsense and NDA 🤬.
