Project CARS - Logitech Wheels NOT Supported on PS4

I expect the price to come down fairly quickly if they don't sell a ton of units. They are still using the same injection moulds for the wheel and pedal base, the wheel itself is stamped and there's a new mould for the new buttons on top. Tooling costs for this won't be too high, especially if the guts are identical except for the new sensor so the added cost above a G27 would easily be offset by the lack of a shifter. I think they can sell it at $US200-250 and still make a good profit if they sell enough and I think you're likely to see it at that price by Christmas, if not sooner. Best thing to happen would be for people to not buy it early on to send them the signal that it's overpriced.

Doubt it very much this new Logitech wheel be near as good as the Thrustmaster wheel. It's quite annoying, an element of hope had been creeping that my G27 may be compatible after all.

Plus, that thing looks hideous! The look a wheel plays a vital role in my decision making, and that does not appeal at all.

I'll take the Thrustmaster, thank you. I'd really like to know who runs their computer games department. Let the opposition take all the market share and then, when it does come out, they expect such a high price.

Anyways, one week til my exams are done! Can't wait to get my hands along all my new racing equipment! :D

What Mr Penso said. I honestly don't think the wheel will sell well now. So ladies & gents, let's hold off for a while.

Personally I don't mind the look, it has what I want : Function. Plus everything within reach unlike the G27.

That being said. I'll see if I can get my hands on a review unit when the wheel comes out

It's a burn that the shifter doesn't have the extra 12 buttons. I wonder if it's the same plug as the old one:idea:

Well, well, well,Logitech, so glad I bought my Thrustmaster 300. Any G27 owners selling their shifter and pedals?

I'm glad I bought the PC version of PCARS because of incompatibility between my G27 and the PS4.
I've done a lot of research on the T300RS, and I won't buy one because I see more people complaining about it than praising it. My G27, on the other hand, has been rock solid for 4 years now.
The only decision left for me, is whether to buy a PS4 when GT7 comes out and replace my G27 with the G29.
Luckily that's a decision I don't have to make any time soon.

Anyways, back to PCARS, best racing game I've played for a really long time.

Is it truly the same hardware inside the wheel? No upgraded brushless motor?
Sounds the same except for an upgraded optical encoder and a progressive brake spring in the pedals. Helical gears, dual FFB motors etc.

Didn't it have Helical Gears and Dual Motor FFB to begin with?
Yes, that's what I mean, just poor sentence structure tripped me up. The only two things I see different besides the wheel are the optical encoder and progressive brakespring, literally a couple of dollars of upgrades. The rest appears to be the same.

I think it'll be safe to say, no, it won't. Logitech won't want to harm sales of their new shifter when there's plenty of spare G27's out there will they !
It'll be a propriety plug on the wheelbase and shifter and/or a software compatibilty block to prevent people swapping the plug on a G27 shifter IMHO.

I got a brand new G27 still sealed in the box, & I got my trusty G25 work horse. I won't be selling either. I bought a cheap second hand Fanatec GT2 wheel to use with my G25 pedals for Project CARS, I suggest all other Logitech wheel owners on PS4 do the same, instead of buying into this G29 nonsense. Bought the GT2 bundled with some other stuff that I sold on to offset the cost of the wheel, ended up costing less than £20 ($30) in the end!

Fanatec CSR, GT2, or GT3 - take your pick!

I actually haven't really realized it before, but now that I think about it, I've bought a new wheel for every new Playstation.

PS1: Interact V3 (I was a kid and had no idea how crappy it was)
PS2: Logitech GT Force
PS3: Logitech G27
PS4: Thrustmaster T300RS

So I probably shouldn't be too unhappy that I had to get the T300RS. The cycle reoccurs every 6 or 7 years. And the T300RS turned out to be a significant improvement in terms of performance over the G27 anyway. I guess I should start saving money now to replace my T300RS when PS5 comes out, since I'm probably going to anyway regardless of whether or not the T300RS will be compatible.

You do know that more people post when things are bad then when things are good don't you ?
Their are plenty of happy T300 users out their like me

Yes, I do know that.
I also see less people complaining about their Logitech wheels.
They are there. The optical sensor, which was upgraded for the G29 was a big issue, was a huge issue that affected a lot of people. If you Google it you'll see what I mean. I had to return mine in 6 months and the new one is now 1.5 years old and still going strong. I know others that have had to do the same.

I agree. This wheel would probably end up being the best selling PS4 wheel if they sold it for $250 even though it don't come with the shifter.

Yeah... it's a bit pricey. If I were to buy a wheel now, the T300 would tempt me more for the FFB mechanism, but then there's a rubber rim, lesser pedals and potential quality issues (perhaps they're sorted?). A T300 packaged with the T3PA or T3PA-PRO and the leather rim would make my next wheel purchase much easier...

I was worried about the rubber rim also, but I prefer it over the G27 now. It has a great gripy feel.

Well, well, well,Logitech, so glad I bought my Thrustmaster 300. Any G27 owners selling their shifter and pedals?

I just picked up a T300RS. Are the G27 pedals and shifter compatible? I can't see it unless there is an adapter of some sort.

I am going to sell my G27 on Craigslist.

As far as reliability, my G27 was rock solid except for a sticky brake pedal. After awhile it would just start applying the slightest amount of brake by itself, sometimes so little I could barely see it but just killed lap times. I took it apart, re-greased, etc about 5 times. I know other people who have had the same problem.

Yes Rimotech sells an adapter

On any system, console or pc, this adapter works for the pedals:

On pc only, this adapter works to make the shifter a standalone device:

Cool. I will have to see which pedal set I like better, then decide.

$400 to Thrustmaster today ... thanks Logitech. ;)

Jesus Christ, about damn time. I had a G25 and a G27 and had to import from Thailand a brass optical encoder for each because the original one was made of some very rubbish plastic that cracked in a matter of weeks of use (on both!). "Logitech wheels are more reliable", yeah.

It really feels nice that people realize when a company wants to screw them over.
It will be fun seeing their ship sink in the next days, grab the popcorn lads!

Which will lead to a sensible price drop soon.
