Project CARS - Logitech Wheels NOT Supported on PS4

I agree entirely, but would still like to hear Logitech's side of the story as regards support of older wheels. They haven't made any statements as of yet, so I'll give them a chance.

That said, I'm just about ready to ditch Project BUGS & PS4, & return to GT6 on PS3. Sure the sounds aren't so great, but the game works very well for me & my G25, & more importantly it's fun racing online. I'm not having any fun with Project CARS at all. The most fun I've had on my PS4 has been with DRIVECLUB using a pad!

What a sad state of affairs Sony, Logitech/Fanatec/Thrustmaster, & SMS have created between themselves.

I'm prepared to walk away from all future console sims that require a wheel (pCARS, AC, GT7), and stick to racers that are somewhat pad friendly (FM6, DC etc).

So what is the real issue? I don't think that we'll actually ever know, however I'm wiling to be proven wrong.

My theory is that the real issue is the same one that has plagued the entire games industry and accessories market: Money. Charge gullible consumers as much as possible for doing as little as possible. I still believe it's time we had another industry crash to reset everything; partly because of bad/disappointing/broken games and partly for the obscene prices of official wheels and other accessories.

Yes, I'm still hoping against hope for now!

+1 but close to loosing faith however!

The thing is, they (Logitech) have had plenty of time to give us a statement regarding the definitive stance on G25/7/DFGT support, except they simply dodge the topic entirely. Realistically we should have had support by now. especially as Logitech are now in bed with Sony once again.

Suspecting some parts of the imbroglio are tied with NDA/behind closed doors/internal politics matters I can understand why they have remained evasive at some point. But now that relations appeared to have settled it is time for clear communications indeed.

Whatever the answer is, Logitech should address legacy support at E3 and remove any remaining question-mark from the table with an unequivocal approach. As existing customer, I don’t think that’s too much to ask... and not doing so would, as you pointed, further damage their reputation.

Just sent this email to Logitech. I encourage EVERYONE to do the same if you want G27 support. I don't know how to add a photo from my phone so I will copy a and paste it below.

My email to Logitech customer care after my phone call to their escalated complaint department yesterday:

Here is proof to back up my phone call yesterday. If Logitech fails to provide G27 support for the PlayStation 4 no one will buy your G29 wheel, which everyone realizes is a bunch of recycled G27 and Driving Force GT parts. Especially when all the websites are claiming $400 retail price, the same as the Thrustmaster T300 that uses the newest brush less motor force feedback tech.

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/thre...ch-wheels-not-supported-on-ps4.313485/page-62

If Logitech provides G27 support more people will be happy and would likely upgrade to the G29. Trying to force us to buy an overpriced wheel will only cause us to boycott the G29.

The ball is in your court Logitech. My G27 is already up for sale and the T300 is on my Amazon wish list.

You don't need to walk away from anything, imo. I use a pad on pCARS and I don't feel hindered. No reason to assume AC will be any different

I even use a pad when PC simming. Wheels are very nice, no doubt about it, but anything that's released on console is/will be drivable with a pad

Just caught up with what's happened over the last few days and I hate to say it but it doesn't look hopeful. How can Logitech expect this to blow over without having replied to any queries about legacy support yet? It's ridiculous!
I know that when I'm in a position to i'll be looking for a T300RS with the 3 pedals and a shifter set up, not even going to consider to G29 for that price considering it's a tweaked version of what I already have. Cheers Logitech! :banghead:

Ian Bell actually admitted his previous comment (something like, "wait for good news") which was posted in a G27 compatibility thread, was indeed referring to the launch of the G29......

I missed out on a cheap T300 deal because of his good news comment. Since we arent getting legacy support from logitech I kind of wish he kept his mouth shut and never said anything at all.

Stuff logitech though, they arent even on the radar when it comes to new products from here on out.

Once I get my T300(itll be a while yet lol), I'll send a copy of the receipt in to logitech with my rant on how easy they made my spiteful decision to buy an expensive wheel and accessories from their competition. Stuff the pricks.

I don't think anyone will buy the G29 whether the G27 becomes compatible or not. It's simply way over priced for what it is. It seems as if it's almost ZERO upgrade from a G27 nevermind an extra $200 worth.

in the gran turismo forum section i've read of many already willing to buy a GT7 & G29 combo...however by the time GT7 will be released there'll be probably G32.

The only company that's coming out of this with a good name imo is Fanatec. They're the only ones who've made a real effort to support a good range of their legacy wheels.

I finally got my second hand Fanatec GT2 & G25 pedals working in P CARS yesterday & had a blast driving around Brands Hatch GP for a bit.

I was initially quite upset that Fanatec wheels weren't working, but now that they are; good on Fanatec, well done!

👍

I'm glad for you, remember you struggled to find a decent wheel for a bargain. FFB in PCARS is excellent on those last gen Fanatecs :)

Pleasse tell me how you got your pedals working properly. I'm using Fanatec pedals with a T300 through the CPX adapter, but have issues since the patch dropped.
Sorry for off topic...Logitech sucks lol

How does the Fanatec GT2 compare to the G25?

It depends who you ask. i loved my g27 then went to the gt2 and after the g27 felt like a cheap toy wheel and i couldn't go back to the g27. The g27 is lighter and faster then the gt2 is heavy slower. since the gt2 i had a csr now CSW v2. the csr is feels like the gt2 but lighter and faster like the g27. I would go with the csr if you like a lighter faster wheel, cheper to, about the same guts as gt2 but lighter rim. hope that helped. and to me the CSW v2 nice but for the money i would be just as happy with a gt2 or csr wheel.

Thanks, but I was just curious. I'm not looking to get a wheel. I just got the T300RS a month ago. I had a G27, so I was just wondering what the Fanatec wheels were like. I've actually never even seen a Fanatec wheel in person, let alone try one.

Also, I noticed that the GT2 doesn't have a d-pad. How do you navigate the in-game menus?

I just re-calibrated them in-game. Go to the wheel options screen & reset everything to default (Triangle button I think, if on PS4), then calibrate your pedals & wheel.

FFB is the same in GT6, GT2 feels quite notchy in P CARS but then again the FFB is stronger. I'd have to use both wheels in P CARS for a fair evaluation. Biggest problem is that I can't race with the GT2, as @skazz pointed out the hand position is more like 2 o'clock & 10 o'clock like on a road car, so I have less control over the wheel & car. I've decided to get a CSR as well because the hand position is 3 o'clock & 9 o'clock. I'll probably keep the GT2 wheel just for driving the RUF!

Thanks to Logitech for ruining their brand name & turning me onto these excellent Fanatec wheels. 👍

The d-pad is on the bottom of the wheel spoke. I also had a t300 and i felt i liked the gt2 and csr better. Just my opinion.

For me the GT2 has some positives (Xbox360 support for Forza 3/4 being the main one, but also very smooth, nice on-wheel tuning menu, 30cm diameter alcantara rim) but they were always outweighed by the negatives (frustrating hand position, annoying Dpad, lots of resistance turning the wheel, sluggish to change direction, very hard to spin it around without using drift mode, small forces rather muted).

I tried mine a few times on PC sims, but personally I always preferred the free spinning and direct nature of the G25 (especially to hold slides and achieve good lap times), despite the cog rattle, so I stuck with my G25 and used the GT2 purely for consoles.

Guys who like some wheel weight and don't mind the Porsche wheel hand position would get on with it a lot better than me.

To me the T300 blows both of them away, because it gives the smoothness of the GT2 with the agility of the G25 yet with considerably more power. And I like the hand position, paddle feel and even buttons best too. But the Thrustmaster wheels do feel somewhat different coming from Fanatec (FFB is more raw and less silky smooth, relatively cheap feel of the rubber rims), so I could definitely see guys wanting to move on to the CSW rather than T300 for the quality of materials, tuneability, etc....

I too feel cheated and betrayed. On top of that, Logitech are STILL giving the silent treatment on this. I would encourage those of you who feel the same to express your displeasure on their forums, facebook page and twitter. They will have to acknowledge the backlash eventually. Especially since they need to maintain good pr for their G29 launch. It's only fair that they either respond with PS4 support or with a GENUINE reason why it is not possible.

...Logitech are STILL giving the silent treatment on this.

This is the biggest reason I'm upset with Logitech. They need to inform their customers either way what they plan to do regarding legacy support. Silence isn't always golden!

The lack of answers from Logitech is frustrating, especially when what we do hear is the usual recycled garbage, "security chip", "check Twitter for updates".......:indiff:

Surely a major company like Logitech have a future plan.

Their silence has led to an increase in sales for other wheel manufacturers, Logitech have hurt themselves and are still doing so. Someone at the top needs a good shake.

Logitech have been silent for well over a year & then out of the blue we get the G29. That teaches me that making assumptions is futile.

You re right. Back in March, they should have given us a fair warning 3 months in advance that they will attempt to screw all their customers over.

My name is Vit K. and I will now take care of your case regarding your Logitech G27 Racing Wheel, as previously you were mistankely in contact with US support desk. I understand that you would like assistance with your Logitech product and I will do my best in order to help you regarding your issue.

Unfortunately, our G27 Racing Wheel does not work with next-generation systems. This is often a side effect of a new platform launch. As you have correctly stated, we have now released a new model - Logitech G29 Driving Force Racing Wheel, which is supported on PS4. We are sorry for any inconvenience which might be caused with the fact the this support is not available for your G27. If you will have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us again.

For future reference your case reference number is 00705258. This will allow us to quickly find the contact history when you need additional help. If we do not receive a reply, your support request will eventually be closed and set to "solved". A survey will be sent to you to gather your feedback.

I appologize if we have previously provided you an information that there is going to be support of PS4 on G27. Till the new wheel was released, there was actually no sort of information if/when the G27 will be supported by PS4.

I understand the inconveniece, but there is unfortunately nothing more what can be done.

If you will have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us again.

Anyway doesn't matter to me much anymore I just sold my G27 so will be looking for a new wheel in the near future.
💡 Probably not a Logitech....

There's been loads of contradictory information coming from low level customer support agents, they don't seem to actually know very much, I wouldn't read to much into it.

I'm gonna wait until Logitech make an official statement either way regarding legacy support. In the meantime I have my second hand Fanatec GT2 to keep me occupied.

👍

I'd like to ask Logitech exactly "why won't the G27 be supported on the PS4?"

There must be a reason....
