Project CARS - Logitech Wheels NOT Supported on PS4

I'll probably go for the TM Ferrari F1 wheel just for the ability to map them extra buttons for Pcars functions, that is, unless SMS can get the DS4 controller to work simultaneously with a wheel.
I'm not all that fussed about leather clad wheels TBH, the plastic/rubber of my T300 is good enough for me, has plenty of grip and more importantly, won't wear and get tatty like leather can.

Yeah... it's a bit pricey. If I were to buy a wheel now, the T300 would tempt me more for the FFB mechanism, but then there's a rubber rim, lesser pedals and potential quality issues (perhaps they're sorted?). A T300 packaged with the T3PA or T3PA-PRO and the leather rim would make my next wheel purchase much easier...

I'd like to go for that set up too, but unreliability issues & pricing puts me off. I just want to use my G25 on Project CARS until it dies & can't be fixed anymore. Then & only then will I consider buying a new wheel. Maybe when the G29 drivers are released we'll plug in our old wheels & find out that they work too!

you can already try cause pcars has been patched and includes logitech g29 support. if g25 doesn't work well than it will never work on ps4. sadly.

The 1.4 patch has been released for PCars on the PS4?

Someone try a G25/7 and report back please.

Plugged it in to PS4 while game was on, wheel spins around then centers. But no G27/racing wheel, appears in the control selection screen
There won't be a G27 it'll be the G29. It could mean the drivers are there but the option to choose that wheel, which is a ways from release anyway, isn't there yet.

Johnnypenso - there was no controllers I could select other than the DualShock 4, the wheel wasn't recognised in game in any way at all. It wasn't just not showing a G27, it wasn't showing anything other than a DS4

Ian_83 - No there is nothing to select, I go to the controls section and all I can choose is a DS4, even though my G27 is plugged in. I cannot change the control to anything bar a DS4.

Sorry if any of that sounded argumentative, wasn't meant to, just struggling to textualise my words

Spagetti69 - no probs

I don't have the game, so I can't see what options you have for input selection. That's why I asked.

Thanks for trying it out for us. 👍 If the G27 had somehow magically worked, I would have gone out right now and purchased PCars.

So with the newfound developments, who's really to blame now? Logitech perhaps?

There's no way I'm buying what's essentially a G27 at that price. Plenty of people share that sentiment
Well considering that Logitech have now got a fair amount of G25/7/DFGT customers that are fairly cheesed off, I hope that people avoid Logitech wheels in the future and purchase something else.

The annoying thing is, that the alternative is a T300 which is dearer than a G27, but I wouldn't want one of those either.

FFB wheels are not looking very promising for this generation of consoles......what a shame as we have some great games coming.

If you want to make absolute assumptions like that, go right ahead. As for me, I'm gonna wait to see what Logitech has to say about it.

👍

i think they already provided a clear answer not answering on legacy support in ages and delivering a new wheel. However is my opinion, thing changes and time will tell.. i'm not really patient and as a logitech owner i'm really pissed off..

I think 1.4 is only out for PC, not for console yet.

My G27 had a lot of use, and the leather held up just fine. It might have gotten slightly shinier than new where my hands held it, but otherwise no wear.

[EDIT] Nevermind, I guess 1.4 is available on console already.

No it doesn't. Shh, quiet. Listen... the PC is calling you... I know you can feel it!

I have no time and no patience to build a gaming PC. Plus I have nowhere in my house to put the damn thing. Then there's the hassle of making sure everything works correctly, setting up a Steam account, etc etc.

Waste of time for me to go to PC, especially since I dropped cash on an XB1, and now have monthly payments on my new car to make.

Setting up a steam account is no more of a hassle than setting up a playstation network account :P. With steam, I find that almost any new game just works fine out of the box. I can't speak for AMD cards, but for nVidia there is a feature in the driver suite that automatically optimizes the graphical settings for any new game, depending on what your system specifications are.

If you know a techy friend, you can build, install and test a PC in just an afternoon.

It's a pain in the ass if you want to use your PC for anything other than racing games though. The steering wheel will be in the way of your keyboard if you want to type or play other games. It's ok if you don't mind moving your wheel every time you want to do that, but it's a huge hassle. I tried it before, and I told myself no more. The only way a gaming PC for racing games would work for me is if I get a separate one just for racing games, and it would be placed at my rig permanently. So it made more sense for me just to get a PS4, so I have the benefit of being able to play PS4 exclusive games as well, and it's cheaper than a PC.

I just bought my first ever gaming wheel. Always played any racing games with the pad. Only other time I raced with a steering wheel was at the arcades lol. When the rumors of this started everyone was hoping it would be around $250 to $299 so I wanted to wait for this release and see what it is about (I have no knowledge at all about ffb wheels), cause I didn't really want to spend $400 on a wheel. I really should have went for the Fanatec deal last month or so where I can get the GT3 and wheels for about $249. Hesitated, and here we are. When the G29 was announced with the reported price, boom I went and got a T300rs! Aside from not being able to keep the car on the track (I thought playing with the pad was kind of hard in the beginning, who knew I would be even worse with the wheel in the beginning!), it is mad fun!

On the point of G27 not being recognised as G29 with Project Cars v.1.4, shouldn't we receive a system update first to enable communication with the newly licensed peripheral?

Let's hope that such a system update comes, & that the G29 drivers allow our G25/G27's to piggyback on them somehow. Yes, I'm still hoping against hope for now!

 And I thought that I was probably the most optimistic person around.

I'd love the G27 to work too, more than anything, but it's looking pretty bad now. Ian Bell actually admitted his previous comment (something like, "wait for good news") which was posted in a G27 compatibility thread, was indeed referring to the launch of the G29...... How on earth is that good news? :banghead: He probably thought that he'd get a few more game sales by stringing the poor old Logitech owner along. 🤬

If I can use a G27 on the PS4, I will be much more likely to buy from Logitech in the future, be it a G29 when my wheel dies, or some PC peripherals. Logitech could retain me as a customer, but I'm currently angry, so at the moment they have zero chance of me purchasing anything from them again.

Its important in business to look after customers, especially when in a competitive market, because brand loyalty is very valuable. Currently Logitech are loosing customers through this.

I agree entirely, but would still like to hear Logitech's side of the story as regards support of older wheels. They haven't made any statements as of yet, so I'll give them a chance.

That said, I'm just about ready to ditch Project BUGS & PS4, & return to GT6 on PS3. Sure the sounds aren't so great, but the game works very well for me & my G25, & more importantly it's fun racing online. I'm not having any fun with Project CARS at all. The most fun I've had on my PS4 has been with DRIVECLUB using a pad!

What a sad state of affairs Sony, Logitech/Fanatec/Thrustmaster, & SMS have created between themselves.

The thing is, they (Logitech) have had plenty of time to give us a statement regarding the definitive stance on G25/7/DFGT support, except they simply dodge the topic entirely. Realistically we should have had support by now. especially as Logitech are now in bed with Sony once again.

We know that our wheels will function connected to the PS4 thanks to Warthunder, we know that the security chip is basically a greed chip. So what is the real issue? I don't think that we'll actually ever know, however I'm wiling to be proven wrong.
