PS3 General Discussion

Typical. Why the heck is Prey
If Resistance and GoW were on the list, I see no reason for Prey not to be. Maybe you could enlighten us why?
Duck
and Table Tennis in that list?!
Good question.
Duck
And like slackbladder said, where's Oblivion or Final Fantasy?
Thankfully not on the list. The damn series is overrated as it is. It only helps if non-gaming publications don't fall to the hype.
Duck
Or G.R.A.W. or Rainbow Six? Seriously.
Good question.
Duck
You can obviously tell this was made by someone who plays games a few hours a day and who only get their info from the media. He obviously hasn't played all the contenders.
So, what do you think deserves to be on the list. The only major games I find lacking (that I have played. I haven't played G.R.A.W.) from it are R6:Vegas and Oblivion.

Well reading throughg what everyone thought should and shouldn't be on this list one thing occurs to me: We all have a different opinion.

What this Time Magazine guy used for his basis, I don't know, but his is probably different from everyone else's. Although, I dod agree it looks like he may not have actually played the games and was compiling from other sources owned by Time-Warner. It is probably just another tech guy who played each game for about five minutes and picked the ten he thought were the most fun.

But everyone arguing with each other here about what should and shouldn't be on the list is fruitless. You can say what you like and why, but trying to argue with others' opinions will get you no where. For instance, I hate Final Fantasy games and always have. Turn based fighting in any game turns me off and actually gives me a headache. I can do real-time strategy all day long, but make it turn based and I get bored. My early experience with Final Fantasy has turned me off so much I haven't taken the time to see if it has changed. Yet, I love the Kingdom Hearts games because it is real-time fighting.

At best I would say everyone can agree on at least half the list but the other half will differ from person to person as to what should or shouldn't be there.

New Cell Processor on the way:

Engadget
The party over at the International Solid State Circuits Conference in San Francisco hasn't begun yet, we've still got a month to go, but thanks to the conference agenda, we've got a pretty good idea of what will be announced, and it's sounding pretty hot. Of most notable consumer relevance is the new CELL chip that IBM, Sony and Toshiba will be trotting out, sporting 6GHz speeds and a 65nm manufacturing process, compared to the 3.2GHz and 90nm specs of its predecessor. The chip will also feature a dual power supply design, that should speed up memory performance. No word yet if this will be making its way into some sort of beefed up PS3, but we're sure Sony and Toshiba will find something to do with all that horsepower. IBM will also be announcing its 5GHz Power6 server proc, while Intel goes all experimental on everyone with its 80 core test chips. Good times indeed.

Personally, I thought Prey was "meh". A decent game, but definitely not top 10.

It's not all of his choices, per se, but why he chooses them.

Most likely it'll be in the PS4.

Prey was overrated. To me all I could be remined of was doom3, Not a bad game but why'd they use the same sound effects from Doom 3. Oblivion>Prey

Resistance> Both.

I konw, most people don't agree, lol, but Oblivion was so boring to me. IT has absolutely zero direction, it's like one massive dungeon crawler. Though, I will probably own it once it's a $20 bargin bin game.

It was anounced about month ago, no idea of a release date but PSN's downloadable games are looking very interesting, no size limit and fair prices.

Well, I thought Prey was just as good as Resistance and GoW were. Not the best FPS I've played by a long shot, and none of the three were. But they were pretty good, and pretty high quality.

Ah, okay. I get you.

So, anyone got any impressive Blast Factor scores? I hit 5.9 Million the other day, I currently can't see any scores from friends :( I don't know why though ???

Well, I haven't racked up anything high since I only got it a day or so ago. That said, I totally suck at Geometry Wars (which this game is practically the same thing with a few different things), and level 2 is as hard as god knows what.

I would be surprised if Logitech doesn't come out with a new wheel that doesn't have Force Feedback to GT5 specs.

During the loading screen of the GTHD demo, you can see that Logitech is clearly involved with this product. From a marketing standpoint I can see why they would make you buy a whole new product for GT5. doesn't help the consumer though.....unless a new product is clearly a superior product.

So, on the PS3, we'll only have force feedback on a few select games, but have better wheels. But on the 360, you have a gimped overpriced wheel without 900º steering and all, but it has "force feedback".

:(

I really do hope that racing game have rumble coded into them even though the standard controller doesn't have it...

I'm not buying any new wheel at all unless it's vastly superior and it's $100.

I know what you mean about the 360 wheel thing. Al thought dont know how much it cost

I dont think any decent wheel is 100 bucks or under ( ill sell my DFP to ya!)

Sounds like that article isn't quite clear on what it's talking about. It refers to force-feedback in the controller, and force-feedback on a racing wheel as if they were the same thing. They're not. Not by a long shot. That's why I tend to refer to them separately as "rumble" and "force-feedback".

And in that light, the Logitech wheels that are already out there don't have rumble.. so we're not missing anything.

And since the Japanese GTHD demo has force-feedback on the DFP, I think it negates the entire article quite nicely.

This is funny, at least anyone who believes thing like this. Force feedback. This rumor started on GTplanet not 1up :)!! Its 100% based on the GTHD US verison not having FF yet the jpn version does from what I've read. This being the only example.

The artical is full of problems. Immersion has a mechanical patent not the concept of rumble. That has nothing to do with forceFeedback. Show me a controller with "forceFeedback". It works with PS2 games and its recognized and has to be pluged in before starting the game.

...Huh? I thought the US version of GTHD had force feedback, yet the Japan 1.1 demo had it removed...

I still have the JPN v 1 (not 1.1) and I can confirm it has FF, but v 1.1 does not, and the US version does not either.

And, just for giggles!

If you click the "What's up with that" link under multi-tasking...you'll get a huge post I made on the PS Boards...thanks to Duck for pointing that out :) Kinda neat to almost be in the lime light again.
