Leaked out screens van Heavenly Sword + INFORMATION (

Placed Misterhon

It has been for a long time suffered since we what have seen of Nariko (Heavenly Sword). After the performable demo on E3/TGS was see little there of the female Kratos. But today I found these new shots van Heavenly Sword. It seems that this of a trailer came, which trailer is me not clear, I these shots in everyone case has not yet seen;

The screens to be small and unclear, but improves something then nothing. Such as you on the last screenshot can see is it probable of trailer(D.I.C.E?) I am busy with finding this trailer, if I find him state he on ps3focus.nl.

UPDATE

After what came around to dig on the web, I that in Norway these gameplay trailer of Heavenly Sword were shown. In the trailer people saw Nariko on an immense large field with a dikke rocket launcher in its hands.

Now you will think; nou that is nothing news, but after Nariko fired the rocket it was possible for the rocket at with behulp of the Sixaxis controller. Also you see "Kills remaining" on the shots. What this mean is not clear, or you have a deadline for the enemies, or your speelveld is this way large that your weet how many enemies wait there still for the field to become gekilled. As soon as this trailer comes know more to outside we.

Would it not be funny if Sony doesn't discuss this "Playstation Home" at all during GDC?
[/FONT]

Actually, I think that would be hilarious. If only there was a way to cut that part out of the keynote and then have their own announcement a couple of days later. It sure would freak all of the gaming news sites out.

I got MLB2k7 today. The announcers and in-game presentation looks and sounds great, although the menu system is awful. I think EA does a better job with menus and music. I think the fields look like someone ****ted guacamole everywhere and the crowd models still are unacceptable. It's really distracting, especially in Dodger Stadium where the crowd is clearly visible. Visual Concepts should focus on stadium design the next time around.

I noticed some bloopers too. The AI threw to second base while the batter was still en route to first base. The AI also sometimes calls a high and outside pitch when the pitcher checks a runner trying to steal a base.

Other than that, it's a good game. I just hope Visual Concepts build 2k8 as a PS3 game and not just an up-converted 360 game.

IGN strikes again!
Editor's Correction: After posting the review, we've gotten word from an SCEA representative that the game will support 480p on the PlayStation 3 but not 720p. Our error was due to crossed information and we're sorry for the confusion. We will report back once we have the final copy in our hands.

http://ps2.ign.com/articles/763/763624p3.html

My guess? IGN got "cross information" because this game will be one of the first to support 720p via upscaling, possibly with the march update, either that, or it's planned for the future. That's "my guess".

Just wanted to revisit this post and talk about how it's rumored that EU emulation will support 720p and 1080i.

And I honestly think that the March update will involve emulation for certain titles and it will upscale if your TV supports that resolution.

ME FOR THE WIN.

I'd also add that most also appear to have little to no understanding about the technology, and I have very serious doubts that most have decent set-ups that are properly calibrated. While that wasn't necessarily a key requirement with previous consoles, with 1080p & multi-channel HD audio games things are quite different.

You're listening to DTS-HD? That's funny, because I could have sworn nothing's been released that can actually decode it. Lots of announcements, but still vaporware.

Re: Platstation Home:

I know there's little details on this right now, but after reading the patent description it seems like they're not trying to turn the PS3 into a home A/V hub, but rather a portal to which you can send, receive, and access all your A/V goodies, buy more, and possibly share some, and then access any of it from anywhere. If that is what Sony's trying to do, then a definite sexual assault has been comitted. And in SCEA's home state I believe that's 6-10 years. I'm sure Microsoft will need a few years of counselling, too.

I didn’t say I was, and Dolby HD & DTS-HD are certainly NOT vaporware. Vaporware refers to a product that has not even been developed yet. These compression schemes for lossless audio have been demoed for over a year now. In addition, Dolby HD & DTS-HD are simply the compressed form of the PCM (48 kHz, 24-bit) lossless HD audio tacks that are on Blu-ray discs right now. 👍

Well, the PS3 is getting DVD upscaling. And if that's possible, that means 720p-games-on-1080i-only-TVs will happen at the same time.

And there's more scoop on that PS Home patent.

http://kotaku.com/gaming/sony/playstation-home-the-trademark-240868.php

Holy crap, hell has frozen over. I'm beating everyone to the punch news-wise plus the PS3 is getting a lot of great news.
For those interested, here are the links to the original in-depth 4-part interview between Newsweek and Phil Harrison:

Lot's of revealing information!

Thanks, Warhawk looks like it could be a lot of fun playing online.

I have to say though, the clips from that Conan game made it look like a pretty bad game to me at least. And the clips from Juiced 2 made it look like an average PS2 game. 👎

STALKER looked interesting in a DOOM sort of way... not my kind of game though.

Frontline: Fuel of War looks really promising! 👍

Supreme Commander looks incredible! 👍👍

Oh... and I must say, Jessica Chobot is certainly easy on the eyes. :D

Has she ever been nominated for one of the Weekly Babe Contests?

Unfortunately I haven't been following warhawk too closely (even though it was the first game I ever played for playstation) is this multiplayer only or what? and will it be BD or download

Sony's Harrison on Euro PS3: 1,000 PS2 games at launch

As you can probably imagine, the reaction to Sony's newly-spec'ed European PS3 hasn't been all that warm, so Three Speech decided to hit up big Phil Harrison himself to get responses to the criticism straight from the horse's mouth. Perhaps the biggest relief to nervous Eurogamers will be Harrison's claim that over 1,000 PS2 titles will be available on the PlayStation Network at launch, a list of which will be made available online on the 23rd or perhaps even sooner. However, it's clear from the way Harrison dodged a question about the importance of backwards compatibility that Sony does not place a lot of weight on the feature, instead hoping that people will go out and spend loot on games and Blu-ray flicks. One possible positive revealed by Harrison was the fact that the PS2 Emotion Engine chips being omitted from European (and possibly all future) models are not the same ones mass-produced for the PS2 itself, but rather, are manufactured specifically for the PS3 -- meaning that Sony will indeed see a significant cost reduction which could theoretically be passed down to the consumer.
Want some more potentially good news? How'd you like all those legacy games to utilize the PS3's upscaling ability and add new life to your favorite classics? Well that's exactly what Sony plans to do with a firmware update this summer, claims "Rumor Reporter" Bruce Kelly, whose sources tell him that the company is looking to bring 1080i/720p support to its upcoming emulator. Kelly goes on to say that Sony will add compatibility for select games in batches of ten or so, but hopes to eventually offer support for almost every title on PSN. We'll believe this one when we see it, but if Kelly does turn out to be right, we don't think Sony will be hearing one more word about that discarded Emotion Engine.
All of you doubters (I'm looking at you Robin) better not doubt me again. ;)

This makes me curious, however... what do they mean when they say there'll be "1000 games on PSN at launch"?

Sorry, could resist:D

That looks good, but seeing how sony has said one thing and done another, im not going to get my hopes for "1000" PS2 games at luanch.

Im not concerned about eh 720p/1080i thing seeing as I have an 8 year old TV.:grumpy:

Anyone want to sell me a cheap 1080p TV?

I think it means that the emulator will be downloading updates like the 360 did to support more games. Next people will be whining that they have to connect to the internet in order to get the compatibility.

And for the rest of us, with the "old" EE-equipped PS3s, we should still be able to benefit from this new software emulation. I would imagine it's some sort of option.. it a game is supported by the emulator, it runs nice and pretty in 1080p or whatever. If it's not supported by the emulator, it simply runs on the hardware at 480p.

That would be nice. Which means they probably won't do it that way.

Just like there won't be DVD upscaling? Please, stop trolling around PS3 news and saying that such and such won't happen because that would be the smart thing to do. I'm getting sick of the PS3 criticism around here - it hasn't even launched globally!

I know how you feel. I recall a few high profile GTP members posting that the PS3 didn't even have a scaler.

Unfortunately, many people are prone to jump to conclusions based on absolutely no substantiated facts - just suspicion & speculation.

Has anyone seen these already? Sorry if posted already.
There's some fairly small pics of Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction
here.

It's looking promising.

I never said there wouldn't be DVD upscaling. If I said anything at all on the subject, it was that I simply don't care. Upscaling is a gimmick, nothing more. The TV is upscaling the image already, why should I pay more for an external device to do the same thing? That's not a slam on PS3, either, that's a slam on X360, and every Oppo or other upscaling DVD player out there.

I was simply pointing out that large companies tend not to do things simply for the sake of the consumer. No matter how much something would benefit the gamer, they'll only do it if it also benefits their wallets.

About this specific issue, adding emulation ability to EE-equipped PS3s may require more coding work than they're willing to do, depending on how they go about it. They have three options, as I see it. 1) They ignore it entirely based on the idea that EE-equipped PS3s can already play all PS1/2 games. 2) They add a "switch" function to the XMB's System Options to turn the EE on or off (auto-set and locked to OFF for the "new" PS3s), or 3) They make the code smart enough to recognize a emulator-compatible game when it's inserted, and it automatically plays it that way, while using the EE to play non-compatible games. The third option, while the best, is also the most complex, making it the most expensive. From a business perspective, that makes it the least likely choice to actually happen.

So you see, it's not just "doom and gloom". It's also a dash of common sense.

Now, if I may go back to the DVD issue for a moment. I believe the reason they're doing it is not to benefit the gamers and/or movie buffs, but to help their sales and market position. At the moment, people consider the lack of DVD upscaling to be a "flaw" in an expensive game console. From a business perspective, it's helpful for them to eliminate perceived flaws like this to give the system a better image on the market. People who are on the fence can now be comforted by the fact that the console will also upscale their current DVD collection. It makes the consumer feel better, even though it offers no real benefit.

I do plan on testing this feature, by the way, once it's available. I have a few double-dips around here. I'll take screenshots (literally, photos of my TV screen) showing 480i/480p/upscaled/Blu-ray (the BD is added for the people who are under the delusion that upscaling will turn their DVDs into hi-def). And then we'll see just how much of a "benefit" this feature really provides.

Considering that I own a PS3, I think I'm in a position to say whatever I want about it, good or bad. I've been a hardcore Sony fan for more than a decade. If I choose to say something "bad" about the company, I think I'm in a far better position to do so than some Xbot who's never even owned a Playstation of any kind.

Point taken.

Point about to be lost...

Oh really?

I wasn't going to call anyone out, but you were one of the high profile GTP members that made factual claims that the PS3 had no scaler and that it was a major flaw not to have it....

Nov 24 2006, 8:59 PM Post #52
You're contradicting yourself there, bub.

The issue is with the PS3, end of story. It doesn't have a scaler. At least not one that works worth a damn. Sorry to have to say this, but the 360's got the PS3 beat in this area.

Dec 27 2006, 9:22 PM Post #4845
That's a fault in the PS3. It has no internal scaler, so it's very limited as to what resolutions it can display at besides what it's "supposed" to display at.

Blu-ray through PS3 is limited to 1080p, 1080i, and 480p. It cannot display at 720p.

On the flip side, there are some games that can display only at 720p, but not 1080i or 1080p.

So if you have a 720p TV (LCD/Plasma/DLP), you're screwed. And if you have a 1080i TV (CRT/Projection), you're still screwed. Sony went a little too far with the "1080p" thing, and the fact is that a 1080p TV is actually the only kind that can display everything that the PS3 will attempt to spit out (480p/720p/1080i/1080p).

People are calling it a major design flaw, and they're right. There's some hope that it can be resolved by a firmware update, but some people believe that it will require a hardware scaler that the PS3 simply doesn't have. Which is odd, in a "HD" gaming system, because every other piece of HD hardware out there (DVD players, TVs, even the X360) all have internal scalers. But not the PS3.

Dec 28 2006, 3:53 PM Post #4888
The scaler is really the main problem. Unlike practically every other high-definition device out there, the PS3 does not have an internal scaler. Which means it's limited to spitting out only certain resolutions at certain times. This has caused a large number of complaints aimed at Sony, from people whose HDTVs can't display what the PS3 is exporting.

For example:

Let's say you have a CRT HDTV (direct-view or projection). These are typically limited to 480i/480p/1080i. If you're playing a game that's in 720p, you're screwed. Since your TV can't accept the signal, the PS3 will downscale the image to 480p, rather than upscaling it to 1080i.

On the flip side, the PS3's Blu-ray player is limited to those same resolutions as a CRT TV. So if you have a 720p TV, you're going to have issues when trying to watch Blu-ray movies. Some TVs accept 1080i signals, but most of those that do can't deinterlace them properly, resulting in an oddly-scaled 1920x540 signal, offering little improvement over standard DVD.

The bottom line is that the only type of TV that's capable of accepting and properly displaying everything the PS3 will attempt to export is a 1080p TV. Those are the only ones that offer FULL support of 480i/480p/720p/1080i/1080p.

People are calling it a major design flaw, and they're right.

Fact is, the X360 does it much better. Rather than selecting "available" resolutions like on the PS3, you select only one. ONE resolution in the Settings panel, and everything is scaled to that resolution before being sent to the TV, regardless if it's a movie or a game or whatever else.

Your recent post is almost a direct opposite and contradicts nearly everything you said before - most of which was completely untrue.

I'm just curious, what exactly are the rules on GTP on blatantly trying to mislead fellow members with false information and then lying about it later? Keep it real please... and for all of our sakes... stick with the facts.

If you simply want to speculate, make it clear that you are just doing that and you have no substantiated facts to back it up. In addition, when it turns out your speculation was wrong, its probably not a good idea to lie and say you never made any such comments.

For the record, I did try to address this issue back in November, but despite this, false claims that the PS3 had no scaler persisted.

Nov 17 2006, 7:40 PM Post #4193
Duċk;2486129
IIRC, the PS3 doesn't have a scaler like a 360, and so supposedly because of this, it couldn't upscale to 1080i.
Graphic Processors, like those in the PS3 and in PCs are scalers. They act just like they do in a PC. Go to your resolution settings on your PC and you can change them to whatever is supported by that processor. The Nvidia processor in the PS3 can scale to any number of differnent resolutions, perhaps even greater than 1920x1080 as other high-end processors now can, and of course they can scale down to any number of different configurations.

If there is a problem with the PS3 scaling games rendered in 720p to 1080i, then it certainly sounds like a software glitch that should be easily fixed, although it may be a more complicated issue with the interlacer, and not the scaler.

Of course, those impacted by this make up a very small percentage of HDTV users. Anyone with a fixed pixel HD displays (LCD, DLP, LCoS[SXRD,D-ILA], Plasma), or CRT with a video processor, will be able to accept the 720p signal from the PS3, and for those with 1920x1080 displays, it will then be scaled by your display to 1920x1080, or whatever the maximum native resolution of the display.

Seriously, not only does this effect a very small percentage of probable users, and not only is it easily fixed using an external processor, but the PS3's processor does have the capability of doing this as well and will likely be fixed via a firmware update.

So there is no reason at all to suggest that anyone with an old CRT will be forced to play 720p games at 480, as they can fix it even without Sony making any changes... although i suspect Sony will address this issue any way.

In other words, if you are one of the few with a CRT and no processor, don't let it keep you up at night. Solutions are available without having to rush out and buy a new TV. 👍

(Although, with the rapid development of video technology over the last few years, to get the most out of the PS3, you may be much better off investing in the latest display technology.)

Well, that didn't have the news about the upconverting and "downloadable" titles... :ouch:
Upscaling is a gimmick, nothing more. The TV is upscaling the image already, why should I pay more for an external device to do the same thing?
Yeah, well, not everyone has some big fancy 1080p built-in upscaling 50" HDTV.

Now, if I may go back to the DVD issue for a moment. I believe the reason they're doing it is not to benefit the gamers and/or movie buffs, but to help their sales and market position. Umm, what? It does offer benefit, whether you see it or not.
