No. Unfortunately, when they put in Bluetooth they dropped all forms of RF.
Ahem.
FoolKillerI am sure a third-party somewhere is working on a USB RF remote that will be universal with everything else. If they aren't they should be. Of course, I have heard the argument (not from experts though) that Bluetooth may be a remote standard in the future.
They are, and have been. This one:

is better than using the old PS2 remote and an IR dongle. So clumsy, that one, and so unreliable.
But this:

seems to be the best solution. Some work involved, but it's a real slick. Uses the front power contact for power or something. Plus both the Nyko and Schmartz products have easily learnable IR commands.
But by now, if you can afford a $400 PS3 and a custom remote that doesn't suck (unlike this), you can probably afford the $300 basic Sony BD player anyway. So I guess it's all pointless anyway. I think Sony's decision to keep the PS3 Bluetooth-only is purely marketing. When both the PS3 and BD were relatively new to the market, using the PS3 as just a BD player would have seriously undercut the credibility of the then-standard $1,000 BD players. Why make it that easy for the consumer?
