Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 Revealed, Demo Exclusive to PSN!
Posted by John Diamonon // Capcom

I Wanna Take YoU 4 A Ride this Thursday!

What’s up P-Essers? I’m here today to announce the imminent arrival of one of the worst kept secrets in the industry. You’ve seen the ESRB leak. You’ve seen the MadCatz joysticks. You probably visited a cryptic sight called www.tu4ar.com that just counted down to zero.

If you’ve been paying attention to my blogs and interviews, I’ve been leaking info about this day for quite some time. We conducted this Gamespot poll back in March of 2008 to gauge interest on what games you want to see us bring back. We listened to your feedback and tried to work quietly on the project. Well, as you know, I’m not the quiet type (the PR Ninjas here don’t like me so much). There was this MTV interview in June of last year, my PS blog on August 14th alluding to a Street Fighter surprise, and numerous blogs after that teasing this announcement.

So what’s the announcement? Here it is, officially:

Yes that’s right. Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 will finally arrive on PSN this summer! For more information on the full game, go visit Capcom-Unity.com.

But wait, there’s more. Here’s the freaking ace up our sleeve:

This Thursday, April 30, PlayStation Network users will enjoy a free, exclusive MVC2 demo! No need to purchase another game, just download it straight to your PS3 and get ready for some triple tag team action (A big thank you goes out to Rommel Hernandez who helped make this exclusive demo possible).

Here are the details of the demo:

  • Two-player local matches
  • Six available characters – Ryu, Chun-Li, Strider, Spider-Man, Iron Man and Wolverine
  • Seven selectable environments
  • Upscaled 1080p graphics
  • Widescreen or 4:3 aspect ratio
  • Two graphic filter options for character sprites
  • And other cool options to check out

Make sure you visit www.tu4ar.com for the latest MVC2 news and follow us on Twitter for special promotions and prizes!

And I’ll leave you with one last, cool little video, exclusive to the PlayStation Blog. This is an alternate music version of the trailer on tu4ar.com.

Enjoy!

(FK hates Viddler nlote: Follow the link because he uses Stan Bush's "The Touch" in this version of the video, which makes it awesome, but here is the regular trailer, minus awesome 80's music.)

From your friendly neighborhood Capcom employee,

Everyone buy this when it comes out for realz. It could mean a rerelease of (the far superior) Capcom vs. SNK 2! Or maybe Marvel vs. Capcom 3 (which might even be balanced!).

Regardless, I've been following the rerelease since they rumours first started cropping up, and I'm intensely curious of the behind the scenes stuff.

carpet can cause a build up of static electricity especially in something with moving components like a fan. This can be enough to cause permanent damage so I would suggest you keep your new unit off the floor.

After having my unit die on me (it was due to overheating apparently but have since found out it was just the solder joints for the cell needing re-doing) I moved my ps3 to infront of my TV unit instead of in it. It does sit on carpet but one thing I did to avoid the issue of static is i put a thin sheet of glass between the ps3 and carpet. It is near invisible and avoids the ill effects of carpet.

Could someone who's viewing this thread on their PS3 tell me how many day's it's been since my last login? It's been a while, just curious.

HELP.

What is happening to my PS3, it had same sort of messahe saying SYSTEM RE-WRITE, now all of my music tracks have no names of songs.

WHAT IS GOING ON ?????????

So I hadn't been on my PS3 for about a week and when I turned it on, the XMB loaded and I got the "Press the PS button." message. I pressed the PS button... and nothing. It's connected via USB, and I let it charge. The four buttons on the back all flash, slowly, but it never syncs to the PS3. I pressed the PS button when it's not plugged in and nothing happens. I reset it by pressing the small reset button in the back, both while connected and not, but it doesn't seem to do anything. I'm going to try using my DS2>USB adapter and see if that works, but I won't be able o try for a few days. Any ideas?

Does anyone know when the Tomb raider underword patch arrives with trophys added.

While I can't tell you when the trophy patch will arrive, I can tell you that nobody knows when the patch will arrive. I even looked at the Eidos forums, just to find you an answer. It seems there will definitely be patch, but as for when it will be released, know one knows and some are getting quite angry about it.

if you have the guts, try taking it apart and removing the battery.

Guts aren't really necessary, Sony even has instructions on exactly how to do it, which I have posted links to in the past.

In fact, I also posted my own pics:

The most I have done is to take the main body pieces apart:

100_1368.jpg

The only important thing to remember is to not thread the screws, and to push in the tab located between the two joysticks and where the two body pieces connect together.

What I have not done is to take off the circuit board, which you would have to do to clean the button contact pads.

However, there are a lot of videos on YouTube that show you how to do it, like these:

And here is a response regarding troubleshooting issues:

I have not heard of a similar issue Suede53, but I did a quick keyword search for SIXAXIS on Sony's PS3 Knowledge Center site and saw the following suggestions:

How do I troubleshoot the SIXAXIS™ wireless controller or DUALSHOCK®3 wireless controller for the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system?

Try these common troubleshooting solutions for the SIXAXIS wireless controller or DUALSHOCK 3 wireless controller on the PLAYSTATION 3.

Reset the wireless controller

If you are experiencing difficulties with the SIXAXIS or DUALSHOCK 3 wireless controller for the PLAYSTATION 3, you may want to reset the controller to default settings:

  1. Locate the small reset button on the bottom of the SIXAXIS or DUALSHOCK 3 wireless controller near the L2 shoulder button.

    ps3_controller_reset.jpg

  2. Use a small, unfolded paper-clip or something similar to click the button (the button is inside a tiny hole).

  3. After resetting the controller, re-pair the controller with the PLAYSTATION 3 by connecting the USB cable to the controller and the system and pressing the PS button. See Setting up the SIXAXIS or DUALSHOCK 3 wireless controller for more details.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • Verify if the SIXAXIS or DUALSHOCK 3 wireless controller works with the USB cable.

  • Verify that the SIXAXIS or DUALSHOCK 3 wireless controller's battery is charged.

  • Attempt to pair the SIXAXIS or DUALSHOCK 3 wireless controller to another PLAYSTATION 3 system. This helps determine whether the problem is with the system or the controller.

  • Attempt to connect another SIXAXIS or DUALSHOCK 3 wireless controller to the PLAYSTATION 3.

  • Move closer to the PLAYSTATION 3 system. The maximum range for Bluetooth is 30 feet.

  • Make sure you have less than seven Bluetooth peripherals paired with the PLAYSTATION 3.

  • Unplug any other USB device plugged into the system when pairing the SIXAXIS or DUALSHOCK 3 wireless controller.

I hope this helps.

Speaking of the past, there are a couple threads on SIXAXIS issues that may also be helpful:

A bit more info have surfaced on the rumoured Sony 'Wiimote', including one that it may be shown at E3 next month.

Sony's much rumored motion sensing controller for the Playstation 3 is real and it will likely be unveiled at E3.

That's what I've been hearing from several sources, one of whom has seen the device and two of whom are familiar with Sony's plans to show it at E3 next month.

Rumors that Sony will come out with a motion sensing device have abounded for over two years, ever since a patent was first reported on in January of 2007.

A good source saw a working prototype several months ago that largely fit what was in the patent. Sony's controller apparently used LEDs (light emitting diodes, essentially little electric light sources) and a small webcam to track the device's movements. Because the camera can read different color lights and the shape and angle of each light, it's much more accurate than the Wii-mote. It can track precise movements, including along the Z axis (pushing toward and away from the TV; something the Wii is really bad at) as well as velocity.

As Kombo.com reported last month, Sony is apparently reaching out to select developers and publishers to get some early software coming.

I'm not sure when the device will be unveiled (later this year or mid-next year, I'd think given the E3 timing) or what software will initially be available. Or even what it will look like (the prototype apparently looks kinda funky with a bulb to house the LEDs on the end). But apparently we'll find out the answers soon.

It will be the second new product shown by Sony at E3, if 1UP's report about a new PSP that will only play downloadable content proves accurate.

A Sony rep declined to comment.

I hope so. It means I can avoid Tiger Woods 10 + Motion Plus.

Of course, that will then kill the only use my Wii gets anymore. Although, that is not counting my wife constantly renting My Sims games, just to declare them all bad. Every time I ask her why when she knows it will be bad, and she just says she wants to check them out.

You should do that any way... having recently played TW09, I'm happy to report Hot Shots Golf 5 (Everybody's Golf) is the best, and certainly most entertaining golf game. 👍

The only thing TW09 was good for was to give me a reason to turn it off and actually go play a round instead of a poorly executed simulation. :ouch:

HSG on the other hand, is so bloody entertaining... and it has surprisingly good physics to boot. 👍

Did you play it on the Wii? Because honestly, I just dislike controller-based golf games. I didn't play any golf games until the Wii because I hated flicking analog sticks or using power meters.

Once I got my grip right in TW07 it even replicated my slice (not a good thing actually), so I had to turn the difficulty down.

I still enjoy playing 07 when I can't get it out in real life (although with an indoor place in town that might change). I like playing real courses with semi-realistic controls. Once Motion Plus was announced I decided to hold off on any other golf games until I could see how it worked out, but if I can get a similar setup on my PS3 with PS3 graphics I will wait for that.

Peter Moore has taken the EA Sports franchise in a bad direction on the Wii, in my opinion. It is one thing to have downgraded graphics on the system that may be made up for with a motion control system, but to hide the graphical disparity by going cartoonish is a tad much. Ghostbusters also seems to be facing the same fate on the Wii.

While Everybody's Golf is an excellent game. I still think the Microsoft Links franchise from about 6 years ago is better than any golf game since by some margin.

The problem I see with the PS3's motion controller thing is that I would think the LEDs would need to be visible to the webcamera to work correctly, so an action like a golf swing, where it's likely that at some stage of the action the line-of-sight is impeaded by the players body, it could cause some issues.

...or more likely I'm completely wrong and missing something obvious.

If you look at the images from the patent the end is rounded, so it is possible that short of you completely standing in the way it can detect it.

But similarly, the Wii Remote requires the front tip of the remote to be able to see the infrared projector bar by your TV, so there is some form of programming involved in determing location when sensors and emitters are not within direct line of sight of each other.

Has anyone had any experiences with PS3 and powercuts?

Today we had a brief powercut (one second off, then straight back on), and whilst my TV and router powered off, the PS3 stayed on! :D

I'm not complaining, but does anyone know why this happened?

Oh ok gotta. This controller is like a reverse WiiMote then.

I'm still craving a kendo game, and I think it can be done with the motion sensing tech. Even if it's just hitting targets as they open up, or just parrying and then hitting, that would be neat. If they were going to do that, they could probably make some fun wing chun games too.

Like these:

(but that's for two swords)

If PS at least came out with a minigame suite like WiiSports, it would have to have something like those two.

. It was only added to my country(Australia)a few days ago.

You may have just heard about it, but as Appie said, it has been available for all EU/PAL PSN users (which includes AU) for nearly two months, and there was a discussion about it starting at post #11621 by FK.

Also, as FK pointed out, even NA users can do this as well by simply selecting a country among the EU/PAL ones (including AU), and it will create a gamertag... the only drag (for NA users) is that it also shows the flag icon for the country you chose... which means it will say your in a country that you are not.

That said, no harm in bringing it up again, as some may not be aware of it, as info in this mega thread can sometimes be hard to find even with a search.
