I had a strange occurance in my second playthrough. The freeway underpass where you need to get through those clickers and bloaters, there were none there - well, the three in the corridor but the rest just weren't.

The only thing I can think that might have caused this, is that I equipped Ellie with one of the ND T-shirts, which set me back to the last savepoint. Very odd.

I had a great night of multiplayer tonight. I don't think my team lost once over the course of the 3 hours we played together. So addicted to it right now but I really look forward to them introducing some new maps to give it some more variety. Just received my second star and on week 31 overall I think.

Also,

Increased parts conversion tomorrow through Monday.

Well, I must say. If you haven't completed it yet, don't read.
What a game. Just finished a playthrough on YouTube, and while I'll get to the ending in a minute, I must say that I really enjoyed the game's story. I can honestly say I've never been, well, "attached" to characters like this before. Joel and Ellie - definitely in my Top 10 Favorite Characters list. It was nice seeing their relationship change. From Joel not seeing her as much more than a mission objective, to caring enough to save her from being killed. But the ending makes me wonder. Did Joel lie to her because he thought it was the right thing to do? Did he think that she'd hate him for not letting her die? Then again, Ellie DID say at one point "After all we've been through, it can't be for nothing." I dunno what to think of the ending, honestly. I mean, it was such a cliffhanger, and as much as I wanted to see an Epilogue of Joel teaching Ellie how to swim or play guitar, I think the ending fit, and as PewDiePie said, "I feel like I lost 2 friends today." And with that, I have to give this game a 5/5.
Joel lied to her not because it was the right thing to do (which it wasn't from humanity's standpoint). He lied because Ellie had become a daughter-like figure to him. When Joel says at the end, "You keep finding something to fight for", he's referring to Ellie. A strong indication of this is how he rubs his finger over his watch.

That makes sense. But what do you guys about this :
Spoiler Text (highlight text with cursor to reveal):
I think Ellie knew she was going to die. Notice how distant she seemed when they arrive at the hospital, she seems as if she knows something Joel doesn't, not to mention the doubtful "Okay" she gives Joel after he says "I swear." at the end, leading me to believe that she does indeed know the truth. It's either that, or survivor's guilt that made Ellie ask "Is everything you said about the fireflies true?" Who knows. Maybe all the speculation about the ending is what NaughtyDog intended.

Ellie didn't actually know she was going to die by that point. Ellie seems distant & says, "Can't be for nothing", because of everything she had been through in the year with Joel.

Remember, the last scene before Salt Lake City was Ellie's encounter with David whose intentions were to rape her. A lot of people have come to the conclusion by this point that while Ellie had been exposed to Infected, cannibals, & death, rape was something she hadn't prepared for. And when David attempted it, & she reacted, she had lost what innocence she had left.

Ellie says it can't be nothing by referring to that encounter, & everything else. She didn't want to go through all of that just to turn around at the end.

The "Okay" is a doubt because it's a subtle, "Ok, if that's story you're sticking to". Ellie's a smart kid. She knew the truth, but she chose not to believe it for her own desire to remain with Joel & not alone/afraid.

Spoiler Text (highlight text with cursor to reveal):
She's been looking for some way to throw her life away in a blaze of glory since her friend died and she didn't. She thought she'd found that in the Fireflies. Presumably, that's why she spaces out at parts of the narrative. Whether she consciously considers that she might actually die at the hands of the Fireflies, she wants to hand her life over to someone else.

She asks if everything he said about the Fireflies is true at the end, because she was out of it the whole time. One moment she's drowning underwater, then next Joel tells her that the Fireflies don't need her and they're going home. Pretty suspicious, really. Did this guy figure out her death wish and stop her before she could reach the Fireflies?

There's a bunch of explanations for why Joel did what he did, and that's sort of the beauty of it. Whatever resonates for you will fit. Did he do it because it would have been morally wrong (lol, after assassinating a hundred or so Fireflies to get her out)? Because the Fireflies turned out to be evil buggers? Because he's become attached to Ellie? Because of his daughter that he couldn't save?

Great endingAnd like all great endings, there is no clear an

swer.

Ellie didn't want to throw her life away. As wicken pointed out, she thought she & Joel would continue traveling after the cure was produced. The reason Ellie said all that is because it is Survivor's Guilt; she feels responsible for Tess', Sam's, & Riley's deaths because she feels if they had not encountered her, they might all still be alive even though all of them could have died the same way without her presence.

Ellie proposes the question because she knows there are no "dozens of immune" & she knows they didn't stop looking for a cure. While you could say she never knew what happened between drowning & waking up in the truck, the game never actually implies that. It's quite possible she was resuscitated & awake before Marlene authorized the surgery. If you listen to her last recording, she mentions they want her approval to "kill" Ellie because they discover they can't create a vaccine without removing the brain & at the same time, kill the smuggler (Joel), but she doesn't because she believes Joel would understand her decision.

What Wicken says is pretty spot on. It's why they both accept each others' decisions. As Ellie told Sam & eventually Joel at the ranch, she's afraid of being alone & with anyone but Joel, so she accepts his lie. And Joel eventually sees Ellie as his daughter, esp. evident when he calls her Baby Girl after David's death, the same name he had referred to Sarah as.

HHOOOLLLYYY CRAP. I just completed the most intense multiplayer match in ANY multiplayer that I've ever played. It was Week 12, Day 6. I really wanted to get the Skull Mask because it looks so cool, but my chances were pretty slim, as I had 105 survivors and was about to lose 20% of them from an inevitable impending Hunter attack. This meant that in this next match, I had to get about 90 supplies to maintain my clan, and about 2000 more surplus parts to give me enough survivors to end with 85 survivors after the attack (I calculated that in order to end with 85 survivors, you have to have at least 107 survivors before the final Hunter attack.)
During the match, I was running around healing, crafting for gifts, and reviving my teamates like a madman. In the end, I ended up with 80/90 necessary supplies, but with about 4000 parts. In the results, it turns out I gained two survivors, which was just enough. 20% of the survivors died, leaving me with exactly 85 survivors at the end of the 12 weeks. I realized that I had been holding my breath since the match ended. I am soooo happy, as now I can just mess around instead of tryharding my pants off. :D

So after buying a physical copy last week, only to find out that my PS3 can't read dual-layer discs which meant having to return it and download the game through the PS Store, I've only just finished my first playthrough on Hard. Took a little under 18 hours to complete, most of them spent looking in every corner for collectable items (and yet I still missed the door marked with the big red “X” on it).

It was an experience alright. During the first couple of hours I wasn't sure what to make of it, but by the time I reached Pittsburgh I was really getting into the story, plus Lakeside Resort has to be one of the most stunning and atmospheric sections of any game I've played thus far. I actually dropped my jaw at the amount of detail while hunting that deer, and it pretty much stayed that way until I reached Salt Lake City.

There were at least 3, maybe 4 times where I struggled at all. Especially when I ended up with virtually no meds or ammo while holding out in Lakeside warehouses with David. Only to be confronted by a bloater and half a dozen infected. Luckily the last items I had left were 3 nail bombs, so that was enough to get the job done.

Much of the second half of the game was amazing, though the ending came quicker than expected. Having spent an entire year together, it was quite clear that there was no way Joel would leave her fate to anyone intent on taking her life. Even if it would have been for the greater good. He'd already lost his only child in the chaos that coincided with the start of the outbreak, and he wasn't about to give up another he'd developed such a close, almost fatherly bond with. Even if it meant humanity would have to dwell in the dark until other people possibly develop immunity to the cordyceps infection.

A possible sequel would be a delight though, whether it would continue with the current characters, or follow a totally different path elsewhere. If it's as good as this though, it's an insta-buy for me.

I also need to give multiplayer a go some time, although I won't be able to take advantage of the Supply Drop this weekend as I'm going away for a few days.

On the comment towards a sequel, I believe ND has said they want to continue exploring this world they've created (TLOU2 & 3 websites have even been registered by Sony). However, Ellie & Joel's story ends with this title; they even had to change the ending a bit to help concede that & let the players imagine what happens afterwards.

Said it before & in agreement with nearly everyone else, but absolutely love this story.

Hope they are making 2/3. Loved the single player of this. Even if it is just like DLC. I'm always happy to put my money down and support developers when they make good games.

Not exactly.
Interview with Neil Druckmann
Before the game's launch, Naughty Dog's Neil Druckmann mentioned that, while there may be potential for a sequel in the universe, it won't star Joel and Ellie.

Now, Druckmann revised his stance and said that the original quote was misinterpreted. Check out his reasoning, but beware of spoilers, below.

"I can clarify that quote, because I've seen it misquoted," Druckmann told Kotaku.

"I said this journey for Joel and Ellie is complete. In a spoiler sense, I was referring to the journey with the Fireflies and what they're after with the cure and all that. We're not continuing that. "

Druckmann emphasized that, while there's a possibility for another Joel and Ellie story, that would only happen if he and his team are confident in the project.
Link. (contains spoilers, hence why the above quote is in spoilers)
I personally do not think there'll be a sequel staring Joel and Ellie, but it's not completely ruled out just yet.

I want more Ellie and Joel. I want it nauuu!!
I second this. :D:tup:

Gosh, it's like waiting for the next episode of The Walking Dead games all over again, except there may not be another episode.

All the enthusiasm is great but I wouldn't expect another game in the TLOU series for at least another year or two, just like Uncharted.

Uhh. I love the 1 season of Walking Dead. Absolutely hated season 2 and 3.
I would say it's like waiting for the next episode of Game of Thrones. I want it nauuu!

Naughty Dog registered two new web sites. Last Of US 2 and Last Of US 3. 👍 So there is no mystery you all have more Ellie and Joel in the future. Just don't die to that moment.

Picture is just fan made but for sure looks stunning.

Or maybe a title which plays in the meantime.
I mean TLOU has a gap of about 20 years in the story...

Perhaps the spoiler isn't needed, just wanted to be sure.

As said above by akira. It's a next gen title and it really looks that stunning (of course that pic got some additional work, but the actual game looks great too).

If you enjoyed TLOU then I recommend you try them.
In my eyes they're shamelessly overpriced, but at the end it's up to you.

Finished on Hard, 26 hours gameplay, yeah you read it right, 26 intense hours of amazing gameplay, enjoying every bit of this amazing story on a wave of feelings all the way through.

Moments of fear, scary playthroughs, brutal fights, drama, thrill and the feeling that survive on an apocaliptic world must be quite an achievement.

Loved the end by the way, the right choice was made, so much drama.

This is a game to enjoy patiently, sights and sounds are awesome, story is awesome, Joel and Ellie are awesome.

9.5/10 - Many thanks Naughty Dog for this masterpiece.

Currently playing my second playthrough on Survival mode, needless to say you gotta make all your shots count.

As if that wasn't already the case in Hard mode. At least during the earlier stages of the game, since you get a wider variety of weapons and ammo later on which helps.

I won't be going near Survival mode until I've finished it on "Hard +" though. I'm aiming to get all the upgrades and collectables first.

Dunno if already been posted. I still laughed :P

> Never offered the knife in return
> Has to become a "Shiv Master" instead

Aww yeah. :P

I don't understand all these 20 hour plus times, I took 13 hours on survivor finding every collectible and conversation in the entire game :P .

Anyone here got recommended challenges to undertake on those 100% clan death events ?

Downs with the Hunting Rifle. It's a OHK with a headshot. If you have decent accuracy, and enemies that don't run around like this then you should get it fairly quickly.

That's not a confirmation, though.

While that sheds a lot of light, it doesn't really counter the "weren't done with the world of The Last of Us" quote one of ND's developers said. :indiff:

Part of me though, would honestly love to see Joel & Ellie return for a new adventure, but only if as your quote says, the team is confident. Looking back on ND's sequels however, if there is any developer worthy of continuing their games, they would be the one to not muck it up; they've done an amazing job with their trilogies.

To be straight forward, it's a win-win for me. I loved how TLoU ended & can live with it being the only tale, but I will accept a sequel if done right. :)

Executions with your main weapon since you will end up getting your kills with it, the revive missions are also very easy but I recommend you get reviver 2 first.
