How is that bad? I think that's incredibly worth it. Not only do you get an extra difficult mode for an extra challenge, you get maps, weapons and skills. For $15? Amazing deal, imo.

I'm going to assume you haven't been involved in gaming for very long, 'cause not that many years ago, these things were free. Charging money for a 🤬 difficulty mode is utterly pathetic. Though not as pathetic as actually spending money on a difficulty mode.

Aparently, making a great profil on sales alone weren't enough for ND. Nope, they're going to take every nikle and dime they can get. The only thing worse is that people are actually giving it to them. Completely unaware of what they're actually doing.

What? Extra difficulty modes and extra content? Last time I remembered it's something extra. The $60 spent was for The Last of Us, The Last of Us: Factions. You paid $60 for the single-player and its content, and Factions and its content. Relatively few companies give away completely free DLC.

The Season Pass was for extra DLCs as well as extra items.
DLC 1 was for extra Map Packs.
DLC 2 was Left Behind, an extra story.
DLC 3 will be extra maps, extra guns, extra skills and an extra difficulty mode.

The problem is quite simple extra guns take time to model and balance, extra maps take time to create and model, there are costs to the company in making this so although it was once free in years gone by there's a case to be made for charging for DLC. Charging for DLC is fine if you can back up it's value.

The difficulty mode however, unless absolutely game changing may just be removing some ammo drops, increasing enemy frequency or health and reducing your own health etc. I don't know the ins and outs of the new difficulty mode but they would have to change something very drastic to warrant spending money on it to prove it actually took some effort to create.

The real question is why can't they put the extra difficulty alone into the game via patch and release the other more tangible content for the charge as normal.

Personally I'm not too offended because so far all the DLC has fell a little flat for me, Left Behind was the only one I was interested in and just wasn't long enough to get my teeth into. The multiplayer on the other hand just never drew me in.

It's true that today, few companies give free DLC. This wasn't always the case.
And even today, companies that don't have anywhere near the sales that ND's has had with TLoU, offer free DLC. A new difficulty mode is something you add via a free update. Charging for it, is greedy, as it's a small amout of work on something that isn't actual new content. The fact that they are charging absurd prices for all their DLC, only makes it worse.

As more people buy stuff like this, developers and publishers get bolder. Leaving out content to release it later as paid DLC. Demanding absurd prices, and charging money for simple updates. ND has done two of these things now. How long 'til they withhold content on us? I suppose you can't blame them when people are stupid enough to pay for anything these days, as evident by games like Battlefield and Call of Duty. Perhaps it's a result of a large segment of gamers not having any finiancial responsibilities, and as such, lack knowledge on the actual value of money.

In any case, this effects everyone. Including those who don't rush out to buy stuff without thinking twice about what they're getting for their money. Voting with your wallet means little, when all too many kids get their parents to throw money at whatever they want (I'm not accusing anyone in here of doing that, simply giving an example).

Also worth noting is that the only thing in the 3rd DLC pack that takes any real time, is creating maps. Skills are just a number of values that will of course need some play testing. And guns hardly take more than a day to make.

I can only hope that the storyline is based on something other than the main plot. A move tie-in introducing us to Sam and Henry, or what happens to Tommy and Joel would be so much better. The Last of Us' best medium was a video game. I don't think it's going to take off as a movie.

May I ask how you are able to declare it being the best? Has there been a LoU other than a video game I'm not aware of?
Meant to say "would be" rather than "was". I still affirm that the video game will be the better medium.

A TLOU movie won't have the same impact as the video game did. Unless Neil Drukmann pulls off a miracle, I doubt he will be able to cram 12-13 hours into 2.

I'd prefer prefer them to just focus on a full blown sequel with just as much in it as the first game had rather than stretching themselves over the 2nd and a full HD release of TLOU.

I second the focusing on a sequel. Spending money and time on a making it for the PS4 is just about the most pointless thing they could do. It looks perfectly fine on the PS3, and a small graphical overall would just be plain stupid.

So I dove into the Plus modes to see what that was all about.

Was nice to know I could retain the training manuals and abilities I had in my previous playthrough. That's all I think there was to it. This let me already have improved crafted items and maximum health from the start.

Survivor mode wasn't as challenging as I expected it to be. Biggest difference for me was the reduced amount of supplies to be picked up, but I realize later it didn't matter so much as Ellie and David would drop me some complimentary medkits and ammo every so often as well as bad guys dropping ammo if I kill them with firearms when I have virtually no ammo left.

My run on Survivor mode took about 19 hours. My first playthrough on Normal took just as long. On my 3rd playthrough, this time on Survivor Plus, I decided I would try and beat the game using as little time as I can. I found out you can avoid a lot of the battles should they not require you to do something that takes too much time. If it's an exit you don't have to forcefully break through*, or if it's a battle that needs to conclude to continue the story, then you can actually just skip right through it so long as you don't alert any infected or get killed by the hunters.

I completed Survivor Plus in under 11 hours.

*Some exceptions apply. For example (spoiler ahead): In the university where you drop down to the first floor into a hallway of dorms filled with clickers and a bloater, you can sneak past all of them and open the door that's barricaded on the other side. In doing so you draw their attention, but they haven't noticed your presence, and thus won't get you in time.

I've got a few other things I've learned from playing through the story numerously to share if anyone's interested.

So I went ahead and decided to try at a speed run through the game on normal difficulty.

7 hours, 10 minutes and 38 seconds.

This was my 4th playthrough. I'm posting this as a challenge for anyone who want to find something to do with the game in the future. Beat that time!

2 things to say to that.

1. Why? Why can't they just make the second and leave the first as it is.
2. The graphics are going to be insane!

Already read it. And nope, I don't like it. But Naughty Dog has gone greedy, so they want to squeeze the lemon for every penny. It's pathetic... And a complete waste of time.

Do you think it is Naughty Dog or Sony who decided to port the game to PS4?

If there are people dumb enough to hand over their money for it, and there is, why shouldn't ND make it? They make games for profit don't they?

@fatkrakr why are people dumb for buying a PS4 version of the game? I'm sure there are plenty of 360 users last generation that switched to the PS4 this generation and they weren't able to experience this game, they're dumb because they'd rather spend $60 to play it on their PS4 instead of spending hundreds to buy a PS3 and the game?

I don't think a PS4 version is really aimed at those who played and beat the game on the PS3, I think it is more for those who haven't experienced the game yet. Maybe there are people who liked the game so much that they'd pay $60 again to get a better version, I wouldn't say that person is dumb though.

I knew it would come to PS4. I find it funny some here said I was talking nonsense about these games re-releasing.

Anyway guys, I didn't buy Last of Us on PS3, just never got around to it and thought I'd wait for the PS4 version. this will be a good reason for me to buy a PS4 along side GT7 prologue. I hope TLOU is 1080 and 60fps.

All I need now is RDR on PS4 or PC which I think will come to PS4 at least.

What you guys also have to understand is, these are some iconic games, some will also want to replay it, some will want to leave their PS3 behind. Also due to Sony's poor planning of the PS3, the PS4 has no backwards compatibility so these days all notable games will be released again. Another reason is the PS3/360 hardware is 8 years old so even games not that old can benefit.

Story is awesome, online is really really bad in this game i wish they change it completely or even remove it from PS4 version

Im with chromatic. I never picked this up ( as well as.many other late ps3 games ) even tho i was following its.development and super excited for its release.

I will be one of the dummies who buy the ps4 version. Bummed i missed the 30$ flash sale for ps4 tomb raider.

(Eagerly awaiting this to release for ps4 and news of gta v for.ps4, cause we all know its happening.)

There's no point in removing something popular that's already there. You may not like the multiplayer, but a lot of others do. If you don't like the multiplayer, just don't play it.

Seems like the PS4 should focus on getting new games rather than ports. Still though, this will sell a ton.
