Congratulations Dragon! Great to hear you won đź‘Ť

what place you and Tim finish?
I wound up third in my room...came down to the last corner of the last lap against Scott but he braked a bit late and we had contact, etc. so we just finished in the order we entered the corner with Scott finishing a half second behind me in 4th.
It was one heck of a way to finish a 2 hour race :D

It also came down very very close in the GTE battle in room B.

It was Hancock versus gipone.

I was actually really close to not making the last lap under time, If I just let off the throttle for a couple seconds, I could've ended it on lap 52, but I just made it over the line before the clock kicked over two hours so every one had to do one more lap in front of me.

If I had slowed down and finished over time then gippone would've won it, I love this way of timing races.

Here's the reference shot I took for us to plug in the results, and btw the results will be up tomorrow:

Yes, that was truly amazing, a great battle up until the end! :)
Hancock was faster than me in general (you can see the fastest time) but I tried to keep him behind with my pit strategy... unfortunately Wardez decided to make another lap

in the end and my tyres (and my strategy) were screwed by then  (my car was drifting in the final lap :nervous:)

But that's racing!! What a great battle in the last few laps!

Was a bit worried every time I had a LMP behind to let them pass without obstructing them :scared:

Congratulations to the 12 podium placers :D

Fairly happy with my race considering my untimely errors :dunce:
On lap 1 I got on the rumble strip exiting Pouhon and lost control, sliding across the track and into the wall hard :ouch:. So into the pits and down to 9th and last place I went :grumpy:.
Got into a good rhythm quickly after that and was doing 3-5 17's in my 8 lap stints and as the fuel came down I managed to get into the 16's. I slowly made progress on the field and got back into a race for the remaining podium position.
With only a lap remaining a bit of brain-fade and not watching the race timer caused me to pit on semi decent tyres and drop from 3rd to 4th :banghead::dunce:

I had a good start, going to 2nd place fighting with hancoclc, but in lap 13 i made a mistake, and handcoclc can't avoid me, and my engine go to red when i start lap 14, i took a year to get the pit, i lose 1 min and half... with that and ruin my race, then when i try go forward the reality don't see me and susp red, and resolve to stay in the track waiting for the end of the race , not my day loool, good race guys, and congrats to the winners!!

Here is the pic with the D1 results:

It was a difficult race for me, some mistakes and some accidents. But my goal was just to finish the race. I knew that i hadn't the pace for a podium. Well done to Dragon for the LMP Victory and to Wii for the GTE. Shame to Josh with his fuel (same for me )

Wow, busted my ass in the last few laps for that fast lap and it was still nowhere near the leaders times.

That week in LV put me pretty far behind ... but I wanted to get the "official results" up ASAP, so I got the driver results up and everything is working there. The teams will be a bit funky for a while; I'm programming the logic to do the "top-3 scorers" right now.

I think you can at least apologise though.

As I am going to do to Tim. I can't check the replay now as somehow I can't shift to the next lap, only to the previous but I'm really sorry for what happened. In fact, I'm so down on this that I'm going to quit the R32 series to recover and start practising behind other cars. If it happens in Le Mans again, put me in GT class or DQ me completely.

Thanks, it's all good... sometimes bad stuff just happens in racing. Wouldn't have had much effect at all if the timing of my Peugeot enema hadn't been when I'd *just* warmed up my tires from pit stop 3. Least it was bus stop so I didn't have to limp all the way around on two busted rear wheels and an engine fire. So all I really lost was maybe 30 seconds for the back-to-back pit stops. And it's not like I didn't get to save myself some late-race fuel time by getting the extra 12L of free fuel.

Sometimes we get bad luck... still a very fun race. Glad you're sticking it out the season only gets more epic from here. đź‘Ť

I certainly was not the fastest car out there though. Tim's and Josh's best laps were in the low 2:15's, while I was doing mostly high 16's and low 17's, until my final stint were I did some low 16's. However the GT-R seems to treat its tires better than the Citroen and Audi which allowed me to do those 10 lap stints that made up for my slower pace.

It sucks what happened to Tim though. It would have been interesting to see where he ended up compared to me and Josh during the final stint. Heck, it could have even been a three-way battle which would have been insane

Yeah, Godzilla just sounds angry. He's actually quite good to his tires; the longer the race the less the lack of top speed matters as you get to push harder for longer and probably do 1 less stop total. The citroen at spa was really crazy on tires. I had to run an ad-hoc pit strategy based on lap times as there came a point when the tires just stopped working with the chassis. My times would slide gradually from 15 up to 19 around lap 8-ish then at that point I had to come in because the grip fell off a cliff and all I got was understeer and a 2:23 lap time. It's like I had Pirelli Formula 1 tires.

Pretty sure it would have been a 3 way fight if I didn't have that accident. At the end of the race we had the toyota between us; so that saved Josh from dropping to 3rd since I didn't get the bonus lap. But *shrug* such is racing.

Great job everyone đź‘Ť

My Report:
Great race no major incidents and most importantly for me I didn't get disconnected, hopefully my new router has done the trick.

Qualifying was a disaster thought I put in a clean 1st lap so I pushed really hard on 2nd hoping to break into 15's but ended up having an off. Turns out my 1st lap wasn't clean which gave me a 3 second penalty putting me 11th in D2:ouch:

Never done an endurance race before so I figured I would take my time to begin with and hopefully gain a few places through other people making mistakes. Lucky for me this happened straight away and I soon made my way up to 8th. I had good battle with pipi for a few laps and tried to just follow him so I could get a feel for the draft, but unfortunately he went sideways out the chicane and I couldn't avoid him! sorry Pipi. He ended up having to pit but I stayed out with damaged front corner for another 6 laps. After I made my pit stop I really started to get some decent laps in and caught up with Gippone. It was difficult to know who was leading as we were pitting at completely different times but after about an hour and 20 mins i made a big mistake crashing into barrier which damaged my car badly. I then had the joy of trying to nurse car back and try and not wipe out any of the lmp cars flying past which cost me a lot of time! I then spent the rest of the race trying to catch Gippone and the last 8 laps was truly epic, I was right on his tail trying to find a way past but he defended so well but on the last lap he lost it and I made a move which gave me the win in D2 gte. :)

Can't wait until Sarthe with weather and an extra hour it's going to be really tricky not to make a mistake at some point.

Wardez could you provide us with settings for weather change as I could do with some practice as I've only raced once in rain?

Even if Eddie gives you the settings it's impossible to predict what conditions will be realized... the GT5 weather system is nuts and unless you set variability to 0 you can basically expect the unexpected. I suggest figuring out where the threshold is for each tire compound (Hards, Intermediate, Full wets) and practicing in just about everything from dry to 100% surface water.

Yeah, the Le Mans info. Dump is coming tomorrow so keep an eye out.
A nice little practice board ala 3D3 is coming out too ;)

and Tim T, race Le Mans! Come onnnnn, you can do two and a half hours but not thirty minutes more? :) Well, no breaks this time yeah, but at least it gives you an excuse to upgrade the padding on your Obutto.

The settings are going to be 25% chance, 9 change ability, 0 surface at start.

FTW that means use a full rain setup. It'll probably start dry, and there's a very high chance rain will come at least once.

"Rain setup" means lower camber, higher ride height, and a generally softer suspension.

We will be doing a 25% rain simulation one hour practice race this Sunday as well.
We're going to be resetting the track until it starts raining, then heading out as quick as possible and ideally starting the practice race right after the first sector before the surface water goes over 5%. Then people can really figure out for themselves when intermediates are necessary (around 20%) for them to need to pit for them.

But I'm open to alternative, maybe more useful, simulations any one can come up with.

We may end up doing two, with an earlier one on Saturday so it doesn't conflict with GATE. Possibly around 18.00 UTC

Thanks for bringing that up Ron.

Qualifying's always dry, and we use the standard version of the 2009 track to qualify.

A race specific post with all of these details will be up tomorrow as well, bear with me guys, this past few weeks are more hectic than I thought.

The post will also include exacting examples of what the track boundaries are for a clean lap around Le Mans, and it will be linked by clicking on the Le Mans track box on the OP and in the CALM site navigation.

You know what they say, "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery." IMO, the practice boards are fun and realistic too... in real racing drivers/teams don't exactly get to keep their lap times at track secret (unless they are sandbagging).

Tim T, race Le Mans! Come onnnnn, you can do two and a half hours but not thirty minutes more? :) Well, no breaks this time yeah, but at least it gives you an excuse to upgrade the padding on your Obutto.

It's not my back side that has problems as the obutto is pretty comfy, rather it's my eyes (i.e. vision/focus). I need that break every hour or so just to get out of the room and focus my eyes on something different or far away. I think maybe my monitor is a bit too large (27") given the distance from my eyes (mounted on obutto). Basically, when we run those 5 minute breaks in the 3D3 enduros I spend about 4 minutes of it outside in the sunlight... the other minute (usually the first) is spent taking care of other [usually urgent] priorities.

Who knows... I'm definitely out for GP/F (will be away starting June 23) so if I don't make La Sarthe it'll be until August before I can race in an enduro again.

I was about to ask this :) track boundaries are essential to know in LeMans without using penalties :scared:

I hope to make a good race in LeMans, I'm pretty used to long (3-4 hours) races... my only concern is rain :nervous:

Hmm, I must have supervision then, or at least super flexible eye muscles :P.
'cause I run a 40" LED screen not not more than two feet away in front of me on the wall (closer than what your monitor's even at). I have a desk up against the same wall my TV's mounted on in my room, it also doubles as my computer monitor (hardly any response time lag with the settings I use). Still gotta get a picture of my set up to show.

I don't feel eye strain what so ever, maybe try different picture settings, could do the trick, different ambient lighting? Something.

I will up for some testing/practice races in the rain.

Can't wait for this, hopefully will make room A again

Yeah I'm just hoping we get more LMPs in general and are able to have the same even splits with both classes.

I'm gutted that I couldn't make Spa, but I can't wait for Le Mans. Should be as much fun as approximately 17.928 barrels of monkeys.

Hmm.. did some testing and its not looking good lol.. only a 3:44 and 7 laps on the tires... lots of work to be done.

7 laps seems very good, 4/5 seems about right, for GTE that is.

Anyway, ran a few practice races with Litch et al earlier and it sucks so bad I'll be missing this, probably be missing Nurburgring too.

So yeah, that's me out for a few weeks. Might pop in every now and then to keep up-to-date but no promises! Will be back for Monza. Hope everybody enjoys the next few races too, goodluck guys.
