What track for round 5?

  • Total voters
    20
  • Poll closed .
To be eligible for the "Deep Forest Spinning Top Showdown"
  • You must complete a full 360 on the axis of your choice.
  • It must be done solo, in "Race Mode", and the replay must be submitted in 36 hours after the race.
  • You must have lost at least 1 position as a result of your spin.
  • Race winners are not eligible.

Sorry I jumped out last night, I was getting tired. Can't get close to a 56 anything and very high 57s are the best I could even touch.
I didn't submit a replay, but being on the very last lap a few hundred feet from the line, spinning and ending backwards, losing 2 positions in the last 10 seconds could only be topped if it cost me the race win or a championship.
The sheer irony that I gained those spots watching both cars that passed me by do the same thing? Cannot be beaten! :D

Sorry, I win this battle of "unluckiest luck". :P

:(

we'll have to give you a good show then.

I might tag along on this one. Last weekend was really busy with attending 2 baseball games, should be free this weekend.

Note to everyone. Jason will pretty much force everyone into a one-stop strategy. Plan accordingly.

Good point, but you went 2-3, I went 3-5 with the spit of irony in my face.
Rough race, good we can laugh about it though.👍

I'm still waiting for my internet connection. Hope for this weekend but definitely not 100% sure of it :(

UPS has my wheel but it's not getting shipped to Logitech until tomorrow :/. Then it could take up to 9 days before it even gets there.

lame.

know how that feels... I had to RMA my DFP a couple months into having it. No GT4 for ~14 days when I was really into WRS. sucked. :grumpy:

If you don't care, it's there in 2 days, you know? :yuck:
As long as it works when you get it back, cause if it doesn't....whoooo-E.

They already said they were replacing it, so hopefully I don't have to worry about that. But I think it's definitely time to save up for a Thrustmaster.

or save some coin and go fanatec... better for less in the "I'm not Logitech" category.

btw, when you do the results, don't forget to add Lefty to the Tsukuba result.
I could help you with all this but I never know the qualifying times :(

Practice room open;

left in the hands of some random joins.

Time to study some tape.

He who masters the thrust!

Hope to be ordering a Fanatec wheel on Wednesday. :D
No idea what yet, need to obsessively consider the options. Maybe a stand too.

I bought the Rennsport stand 6 months after I got the wheel... had the stand for a little over a year and I can't say I feel ripped off. very convenient for living-room racing and looks cool when I'm not using it. ;)

btw.

36.234 | 26.553 | 27.753 | 26.793 | 1'57.333

If we were allowed to cut the kerbs on the chicane I'm pretty sure 56 would be do-able. (or if you're an alien)

We weren't completely clear on what was going on there. Obviously 2 on tarmac means 2 on tarmac, but after racing last week and watching people go beyond that for most of the race, it seems it might be too hard for drivers to do.

There's that stand and another I'm not sure of. I prefer stow-away types in case I move and have less room at some point.

I have this one:

folds down flat to hold the pedals in place and then you can stow it in a closet or carry it around pretty easily.

oh, here's my car dragon:

edit: changed the ARB to 6/4 and now it's fantastic.
perfect car for me, I can click off 57's pretty easily and I'm sooooo close to 56 without cheating the kerbs.

Got it in the spreadsheet. Will try it out now. Don't think it's the tune though. :(

Well, since I'm one of the un-fast, my opinion may not count for much but I have a wheelstand pro.

with the lack of a clutch pedal to deal with the post is no issue for me. I can see where it might be for a 3 pedal set however when you need to use your right foot to break and heel/toe both brake and gas. It folds up pretty small for storage or transport and can be adjusted from my 6'1" frame use to my 6 y/o grandson's <4'.

There's that one and this one:

How is having the post between your legs? Bothersome, or not so much? It looks more stable which I like, the post I'm not sure of so much.

My first experience in GT5 was with that stand and a dfgt. My son has that stand and while the post isn't there, there isn't much facility for any adjustment. If the supports at the wheel aren't on something stable the wheel will move as you drive. It's really lightweight and my son bent his in a drunken rage over the patriots losing last year. I would not recommend this for anyone serious about their racing sims.

The bar isn't too bad. It annoyed me until I got used to it and I have to slide the club-sports all the way over to the left for 2-pedal driving. Now I don't even notice anything is there, just me and the wheel.

can't give any opinions on the other one... the rennsport is the only one i've used (figured it's the same design as the wheel-stand pro everyone else has and made by the wheel manufacturer... so I figured I'd just toss fanatec some more money, they deserve it.); It's also build like a tank. very solid and heavy. could double as a home-defense weapon.

I've only run 56s twice, so it's far from do-able for this human. :sly:

While were on the subject, my stand's now a computer desk. My wheel has a habit of detaching mid-race.

Dunno if you've already got something for it but you might check out Walmart for some rubber type fabric you can cut and put between the bottom of the wheel and on the top of the clamps and your desk. I can't remember what it's called but I have a roll of it here. We use it to keep things from slipping around on the counter tops. Been hunting around the internet trying to find a link, but no luck so far. If I find a link or a picture somewhere, I'll post it in.

Something I'm curious about - In the Deep Forest race everyone except myself and Grayfox has tires with the Goodyear Eagle in yellow lettering on the sidewall. Couple of cars appear to have the racing rims that I think come with the goodyear eagle name on them. Can anyone explain this difference?

Nevermind. Think I figured this out. It has to do with the rims you put on the car. Traded out what I had for those ones Doc has and painted them up and tires now have Goodyear Eagle on sidewall. That oughta' shave 4 seconds off my time! :sly::dopey::P:rolleyes::lol:

I have a wheel stand pro with a DFGT, it is "OK" but the more I used it the less I liked it.
It isn't stable for any car the needs many fast corrections (Like one of outlaws tunes ;) )
One of the many reasons I only use it for TT and low PP races. I can pull the the stand right out of whack if someone taps my rear fender and I need a lot of wheel to save it.

Mine is also currently a computer desk, mounted to the keyboard which likes to slide out sometimes.:yuck:
