I'm fine with 3:00 eastern being the new permanent time, to be honest. More time to get ready for sprint cup race.

Division 1 Room is OPEN:

Grid Positions

Notes for Murray Valley Speedway | Race #3
  • Please be mindful of cars around you while entering and exiting the front straightaway. Pit road entrance and exit is tricky here.
  • This race will end at Night. If you have trouble seeing the track while it is dark, I highly advise you to raise the brightness setting of the game (+1.0) before you start the race.
  • Be careful of the invisible wall that sticks out exiting the last corner!
Grid Procedure for Murray Valley Speedway | Race #3

  • Pole position is to line up on the right side of the front straightaway, just behind the mobile light generator.
  • The rest of the field will line up like normal, with the front of your car no further forward than the rear of the car ahead of you.
  • Please enter the track in order called, and DO NOT pass the car ahead of you, or the Start/Finish line.

That ended up being a short race for me. :indiff:

Starting at the back and with no recent practice on track or warm-up, the plan was to hang back at first, find my rhythm in clear air and avoid incidents. Didn't work out as Mule hit me (not blaming him, it happens). So went into the pit during the sc for repairs, but the stopping options didn't come up and I went straight through, still damaged at the front and engine. Decided to type out my misfortune, but the car on auto-pilot overtook CSL on track while it was paused, so I rushed to exit the text-screen to get back control of my car, but I accidently exited the entire race instead. :ouch: 👎

All that time preparing, its frustrating for the race to be over on lap 2 for some silly reason.

I couldn't see :(

That was my best race to date and the game had me almost blind from the sun glare for the last lap.

Great race all, never was that close to victory.

EDIT: Now I know why, my headlights went on the low beams......

Stupid pit road screwed me over on te last safety car. Not once, but 3 times it gave me a drive through. I should have been in the lead pack battling for positions but instead finished a lap down.

Stupid track.

He parked it. I'll let him explain why though, I just hope it doesn't deter him from continuing.

We had a safety car with 4 to go due to a couple cars having separate incidents but both had extremely heavy damage. The last two green laps were interesting. The winner really wasn't decided until a few corners from the finish.

There were so many safety car periods. Then green and I had a 2 3 team lock out going on lap 42 and another SC's called 'cause of crashes. I was on bad tires so I had to pit and that put me at the back and I was done. Now that I think about it, if I had pitted when the SC was called out and I was just getting on to the main straight I would've been good. I hesitated 'cause I couldn't process all the factors going on, people were every where so I just decided to keep going around behind car and then every one caught up and when I pit for the pack's second go around in SC I was forced to fill in the back. My tires were so bad that if I had stayed in second I wouldn't probably caused another crash from being a rolling chicane, I was doing 1:16s at lap 42.

Anyway, I've learned a lot today haha, so on to the next races. I was really hoping to get a good result over cicua and Wii but as fate would have it, they were at the right place at the right time and ended up getting 1 2... very spirited at the moment x).

carracer you had great pace today, seems that late tuning changes were right, you deserved much more than you got.

I feel like a cheater taking 2nd, after a generally horrible race. Twice I was up racing in front and binned it, purely my own faults. Got well behind and was saved by the safety car.

And in the end I had pitted more so I had newer tyres than the consistent guys in front, so I went from 6th to 2nd on the last two hectic laps. Well... this podium owes to luck not skill, I must admit.

Anyway there was lots of good battling during the race

I was clocking 15s I think, I died when that last caution came out. I had the win for sure with a 5s lead.

I finally had a car that handled GREAT and it was REALY nice on tires.
I even had the second fastest lap of the race (12.9 I'm sure it was in the draft)
I see now that Aderrrm had damage and that's why I was actually keeping step with him.
i was hoping for a top 3 today, almost had a win.
On lap 41 I was almost taken out in a crash, after that I was feeling so good up to the caution.

Yeah I feel the same wardez soo close yet soo far..... I got damage from hitting the pit wall, cause I was going to follow you the changed my mind cause there was only two laps left .

Wasn't too impressed by the start even though Dr watson beat me in to the first corner, If I had still been on the outside of him ie an inch futher along the road he would took just me out. Luckily he made it but the carra decided he would try the same thing on the next corner and he left me no where to go but the sand box. Anyway hate to moan about these things but there's no need to be so aggressive in the 1st lap of a 1hr race.

Sorry, I thought you where all ready going into the sand box so I went for it, next thing I knew you were along side me, I thought I gave you room once I noticed.

It ok carra, just fed up built one too many sand castles this season . I not sure what happened just remeber dr watson flying across the front of me then you going up my inside and your car must of bumped me at some point cause I just got pushed to the right. oh well ......

Had totally forgot that we were driving in the dark. Kept thinking to myself that I had FMSC sorted since I qualified a week a go. Hadn't turned a lap since the little warm up I had before the race which meant I wasn't driving that great and I probably would have deserved a penalty for how many times I ran supposedly 'dirty' wide on a corner. Couldn't get out the rhythm of doing it so I kept lifting since I don't like driving dirty.

So... first safety car I can handle. On the restart or the lap after the restart, I saw Wardez go backwards down the grid and then slide off and must have hit the wall to say how fast he flew across my mini track map. So I slowed down quite a bit expecting a safety car but there wasn't one called. So I think Tim and car caught up again. Then there was the second safety car which was also not a problem.

Then night hit and I started driving like an idiot again. On the third one I swear half the grid pitted, and came straight back out again. I'm not sure if they received new tyres but Wth. I assumed they did which made me quite a bit annoyed. After that I received my damage (last turn) and couldn't break car what ever I did. I thought to myself... this ain't fun. If anything happens from now - either another bloody safety car because someone can't drive properly or I receive more damage - then I'm calling it a day. I received damage and thought I'm not even going to attempt to do a pit stop since I'll probably be very disappointed (MULE-esque), so I'm glad I set myself up for it. Low and behold, when I pressed 'start' to let the AI drive me into the pits, it drove to the end of the pitlane, without pitting, reset itself at the start of the pitlane and then finally pulled into the pitbox. I'm not sure if this was because I had pressed start but it would have been no surprise if it wasn't.

I'm also glad I wasn't around for the 4th safety car.. lol. Wait was there 4 or 5? I genuinely can't remember.

Not fun. At all.

Yeah, I was absolutely pissed off over what happened on the last safety car, but for some reason I didn't quit. Lol

Race Report

Sorry to be eager green... had such a good jump at the start it seemed a shame to waste it. I was mindful of my radar and tried to keep it from getting too scary.

Safety car comes out on like lap 2... ok we bunch up; restart goes fine. Wardez had a bobble so I get a free ride up into p2 and then just tried like hell to hold on to aderrrm's draft. Made a mistake after the tires started to go off and he then started to open the gap. Not surprised I then settled into a fantastic fight with carracer with WiiFreak in tow. We traded 2nd place more times to count and then it goes yellow again.

Erase aderrrm's 6s lead and since it's close to a good pit window everyone dives in. WiiFreak beats me in the pit-stop dice roll and we're rejoining the track when mule zooms by us all to catch the back of the field just at pit-exit grabbing the gap between Wii and carracer. I wasn't a big fan of that move but we roll around and restart fine. After a brief tango with team canada while aderrrm and carracer storm off into the sunset.

There might have been another caution but into the night Aderrrm and carracer were all over each other for the lead so I was able to catch back up and break draft to the field. As night wore on and my tires started to fall off the lead pair got a gap on me while wardez and green were catching up quickly.

I saw aderrrm take to the pits and it pushed me over the edge to do what I was already thinking... take tires and make a mad dash. I figured that's what he was going to try. So I came in the next lap. But aderrrm was still there! I was now quite confused but on new tires.

Came out in 6th... took some massive bites out of the gap and then it goes yellow again. I groan as I'm thinking everyone is just going to pit and it will be a couple lap sprint on cold tires which is the thing I'm the worst at. :/ But only wardez went in so then I laughed at the thought that everyone in front is on bald tires and here I am with 4 lap scrubs in perfect condition; somehow in probably the best car to win the shootout.

We restart... everything goes ok... last lap, somehow cicua managed to get inside me in t2 and I made contact hard enough to bend my LF. Shortly there after I'm going to exploit my sticky rubber and take the outside around one of the tight left handers and it was working beautifully until I see carracer's great race ending tragically in front of me... right where I need to drive. Pound the breaks, dodge him, lose two places, try to slingshot round the last corner but ran out of road an inch too short to hit the podium.

Bit of a roulette game this one. 4 maybe 5 cautions... guessing game pit strategy... pit bugs... just crazy. Great racing for those two long green stretches though. Tough break carracer.

There was lots of talk about the safety car after the race. I really only have one thing about it that bugs me. Giving back laps. The very real possibility of losing to a car that I lapped 2 yellows ago doesn't sit well with me.

GL in D2. 👍

Yeah, you all came out just as I was going by you. Carracer passed me back, no clue why, but I didn't want to make any fuss about it.

Is it just me or am I getting the impression that people are not fond of the safety car concept?

There was a little bit of animosity toward the safety car. It kinda punches you in the face with realism by injecting factors that are out of your control. I'm ok with it since this is the kind of frustration that real racers have to deal with; cautions are a part of every motorsport.

I just don't like the un-lapping. Feels a bit too much like engineering a close finish.

It was crazy today but, I had wardez a lap behind pushing me trying to help me get a better position as I think he thought his race was over. Then he manages to unlap him self then I end up behind him then I catch him and we work our way upto second and thrid. Then the all the craziness at the end happens and I hit the pit wall get damage choose not to pit end up with loads of understeer because of the damage. I then go off twice after the restart with 2 laps left and then hang on for 5th .

I understand trying to add more realism, but having heavy damage fixed within seconds while getting fresh rubber really throws a wrench into it.

The saftey has got it's good aspects, but it can be a kick in the balls if your driving off into the sunset and someone causes a pile up :P. Does keep the races interesting but right to the last lap :D.

Pretty much this 👍 In real life the damaged car does not end up back in contention for the race win. You'd be better running with 'Light' damage and no safety car :). For loooonnngg endurance races, maybe it could be used, but for 1 hour length races, I'm not so sure.

So now that I've had some nice time with a BRZ and enjoyed the 80 degree weather, I guess I can come back and defend myself here.

I implemented these things to not only add some realism, but to make it more exciting. Nobody is going to lie and say that they don't appreciate a second chance for a good finish after making a mistake earlier in the race. Same goes for getting a lap back. It's all big and nasty when someone running up front has to give a competitor their lap back, but when it just happens to be them down a lap, I'm sure they would look forward to getting that lap back.

As far as safety cars go, I think it's settled then. Safety cars for large wrecks only, case closed. Single car wrecks, no matter how large will no longer bring out the SC and those drivers will just have to deal with a bad finish.

Everyone knew when you signed up here what the rules were and that the whole point of this season was to go full tilt realism. These kinds of things happen in a real race, and that's the kind of stuff I was looking forward to dealing with. But if everyone's going to cry about it, then I really don't see any point in continuing.
