I just stayed patience figuring things might get messy, three cars went off the track and I just barely squeezed by a sideways erick.

That was funny. I was the third car in the off road excursion.
[Back Story] When I was learning to ride motorcycles 15 years ago, they taught us to look where you want to go. Wherever your eyes look your body will follow. So if there is a hazard that pops up don't look directly at it because you will hit it. [/Back Story]
So when I saw the two cars in font of me go off. I was yelling at my tv "LOOK LEFT! DON'T STARE AT THE CARS!"... And I still ended up following the cars off the track and crashing in the dirt, lol.

Anywho... that race was a lot of fun. I enjoyed it a lot!

Winning cures all ills. :)

Well, not all of them, but it's nice to have a reversal of fortune for once. Now I'll have to wait another year before I win again.

Got a great start while DeadMan did not, allowing me an easy 2nd. I had a really good run for 1st, but I took the safe route, staying behind Welsh into T1. Right away, I could tell he had a faster car as he slowly pulled away while I adjusted to the draft. Stig was behind me, but far enough that I didn't have to worry about him. I caught a glimpse of him grazing the invisible wall before he fell back, leaving Welsh and I alone. Kept behind him, but I all but lost him. Then his tires must have fallen off because I reeled Welsh back in.

By around Lap 10, I made a pass on the straight, and did what I could to stay up front. However, on the next lap, after T2, I suddenly saw his name fall off the leaderboard. I took a peek back, and my heart sunk, first believing I had DC'ed again given something similar in Toyko. I didn't realize until I looked at the replay that he touched the dirt at the T2 exit and crashed hard. At that point, 3rd was about 10 or so second behind, so I had a comfortable margin.

From then on, I kept a good pace, trying to extend my lead believing it would help me if there was a safety car. Drafting behind Welsh must have helped my wear because I stayed out until Lap 24 or 25, with my times around the low to mid 15s. When I came out, I had a close call with Stig who I thought had stayed out on old tires. However, he was really on a two-tire strategy. After a few laps, I passed him, and ran my PB on the next lap. Once he pitted, my lead was around 13-15 seconds, so I decided to back off my pace. In the back of my head, I was certain the safety car would come out, and I had no intention of going back in the pits.

With around 3 to go, I'm guessing he was going to let me by because I caught up to him quickly at the hairpin. At the exit, he touched the dirt and his car spun right into my lane. If I was at a faster pace, it would have been likely that I would have rammed right into him. However, I hit the brakes just enough that I could steer the car around. From there, it was smooth sailing for a victory of 20+ seconds.

Honestly, I would have had a much tougher time in D1, but I'll take wins any way I get them. 👍

(And for the record, I did a few lame donuts and a polish victory lap after the race) :dopey:

Thanks for the awesome racing tonight! My heart droped like my position on the start. I was just a bit late off the brake and droped to 4th by t1. Had to give up one more spot to Owens when he caught me early. I had a 1 stop plan going in, so I stuck with the save my tires plan (along with the no walls plan) and kept at it. I saw Owens eat the invisi-wall and stig and I got past. Managed to slip by stig and rolled on to lap 22 when I finaly stopped for new rubber.
Popping back out on to the track, I slid in behind Owens and Welsh for several close laps. Having newer tires, I knew it was just a mattter of time before I could get the chance to pass. I latched onto Owens as he passed Welsh in turn 1 and then was able to slide under Owens when he went wide off the corner. I kept it as tight as I could to the inside and was able to run to the finish.

Great fun tonight fellas! Congrats to outlaw and my brother RIP, Welsh, on a fine comeback from trouble.

Hate being late to the party and realized after the race I hadn't switched my settings back from qualifying, which is why my tyre wear was so high. I ran something like +16/+12 Ride Height and 8.0/6.0 Springs for qualifying, which is heavy on tyres, where I should have been a lot lower and stiffer for the race.
I thought my setup was going to kill the tires. However, looking back at the replay, I think only DeadMan had better wear than I did. In fact, even though I ran 20 laps on the 2nd set, since I wasn't pushing it, they looked like I only ran them for 10. :boggled:

Well Done Outlaw :D

I'm 5th :D and Nikon is second things arn't as bad as I thought lol, can't help but think if only me and wardez had held on to that 2,3 finish :ouch:. Anyway should be some epic battles to make the finale ........ and no doubt adam will go flying up the table soon :nervous:.

Sorry Jay, engine damage or not they were single car incidents which I was going to be very picky about tonight. Welsh was running 2nd and had an engine damaging crash and I didn't call one for him either.

I understand rules are rules. I'm more mad at myself. I said at the start I would take it easy and just finish but then I got the right rear damage on lap one. I tried to ride it out until I needed tires. Bad idea. I should have just pitted. Would have been a lot better off if I did. This is the first race I can actually say was not fun at all for me nd I had high hopes for this race. Oh well, on to next week.

This is exactly why I pitted to fix my front damage a lap after I had just pitted. I didn't want to lose another 30 seconds or however long it takes to pit (is it just me, or did the pit stops seem to take a long time on this track?), but I just knew there was no way I was going to make it 14 laps with suspension damage without having another mishap or two.

Congratulations on the win Outlaw and great job to the other podium finishers. Way to stick with it Nige and Jay even though your races didn't quite go the way you planned. Nice write-up Diabolical, I am glad to hear that you had such a great time.

It appears that Outlaw and I are the early points leaders with deth, erick, DMH, Nige, and CSL all in a close battle and not far behind. The season is shaping up quite nicely.

As for me, I've got that "itch" again so I will be out on the track tonight burning some clutch. I tend to always be off the pace at Laguna so I need all the seat time I can get to nail down my setup and get used to the track's wonderful pit entry.

I'm good with running with front damage, I just adjust my hand position on the wheel but the car was all over the place with that rear damage and it finally got away from me. I'll know better next race though, better to get the damage fixed and get a respectable finish than keep wrecking and end up 4 laps down.

Yeah, I found out in a short practice race that pitting immediately was the best thing to do for rear wheel damage. Even if you can keep it on line the time-loss is brutal at around 2-3s per lap until the tires get worn down then it's just a game of trying not to crash. Just too many high-speed corners and elevation changes to run a gimp at *****y.

Even after a victory, you can't help but make a comment like you're not among the fastest drivers in the series. I was just looking at the results, you ran at a ridiculous pace. If you took the pit stop time off your total time, your average lap for the entire race is probably better than the best lap for half the field. 👍👍

Time to update your average finish on your signature haha.

It's all relative. If the divisions were combined, my pace would have been maybe 3rd-4th best. A win was still possible, but I would have to really fight for it. Would have been more fun, though.

Actually, I already did. It's been heading south since I also run the GT4 Cup which has the most challenging roster of drivers I've ever run against. 6th, 5th, and 7th so far. :dunce:

BTW, I did leave out two series out of the stats, the F430 Challenge and FMSC Season 2. The former because it ended early and the latter because I can't find the results anywhere.

As for Laguna, I've always had issues with consistency, but that was with driving cars with stock suspension. May log laps tonight or tomorrow.

Did a quick 15 minute session for a PB of a 1:30.6, but I'm not sure how more I can get. Pushing in some corners and nervous on others so setup's going to be a pain. :ouch:

Low 29s. Still getting into the Laguna rhythm. Yes I think such a thing exists lol.

OK, Thanks, using FMSC math I think the best time I can hope for is....
29.1XX + 1.3XX = 30.4XX

Great, I'm already off pace.

RT, Can I move to D2 full time? The time works a lot better than D1 for me now than before.
