Qualifying
BWhYUy3.png

  • Live week-long official observed sole qualifying
  • One outlap, two timed laps, one chance per week only, besides 'Super Pole Position' rules.
  • The deadline for qualifying is 2 hours prior to the race start.
  • All qualifying must be done in public rooms.
  • Pre-qualifying specification checks must be performed before every qualifying attempt.
  • Team mates may under no circumstance qualify eachother.
  • Drivers are at no point allowed to drive backwards unless told to do so by an observing marshal.
  • Only selected PURE officials may observe and record qualifying runs/times.
  • Stewards/marshals do not need to have another official present in order to qualify, only an observing member.
  • All times must be submitted to both the PURE results mini-site as well as posted in this thread for confirmation.
  • Always save your replay in case your laps come under review for cross reference.
Track boundary notes
The following rules apply to all track boundaries for all races in JGTS 3:
  • Two tires must remain in contact with hard racing surface track at all times.
  • Curbing/rumble strips and most hard surfaces attached to white boundary lines are track, different considerations may be made at certain tracks.
  • Concrete patches, "greencrete", or turf and other run off is not considered to be track.
  • White lines and curb/rumble strip edges are considered track. Even if you only have two tires on the very limit, (to be reviewed and confirmed by officials) it will be considered clean.
  • These rules are, of course, the same for both regular season qualifying and races. Race fastest laps must be reviewed in order to be confirmed clean and have the driver rewarded.
Race and qualifying officials

Marshal - our eyes in the race and what used to be known as qualifying "stewards." They can report incidents they are not involved in. All officials above this position are also considered acting Marshals in that they can also run qualifying sessions.

Raceday
BWhYUy3.png

  • If a driver sets a qualifying time and is not sure whether they can make the race, we will wait up to 2 hours before the race start for the driver to say whether they will make the race or not.
  • If the driver does not check in we will assume he can not make it and sort the grids appropriately. This gives us 1 hour before Connect time to sort the 2 rooms.
  • The absent driver's qualifying time will be erased and he'll be put at the back in D2 if there's space. If not, he can't race.
  • Anyone who had a time lower than the driver who dropped out will move up the grid(s) accordingly. 1st driver outside D2 takes D2:16.
  • No room switching after the 2 hour prior to race start deadline is reached.
  • Specification inspections will be conducted by all hosts before every round of the series. These "inspections" or "checks" will begin around 15 minutes before green flag start time. We expect all drivers warming up on the track to mind and respect this precedent by removing themselves from the track and doing final preparations (setting up your transmission or other settings for the race).
  • At this time, before checks begin, the room host must make sure the regulations and race settings are set properly for the race (check laps, check damage, collisions, etc.) so that the race can start immediately after checks are done from the pits.
  • A full explanation of pre-race inspection procedure can be found here:
    http://pure.gate19.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=728&p=12572#p12572
Race Restart Rules
  • If a driver, or multiple drivers, drop out of the race, and the first lap has not been completed, anyone is free to say they're dropping out to the lobby and do so.
  • All hosts and drivers will be required to wait to exactly 15 minutes after the actual start of the race (in case it's a late start) for the affected drivers to return and report on their troubles.
  • Affected drivers must communicate their situation, and whether they can participate or not, in a timely manner.
  • If, for whatever reason, a driver is completely offline and does not respond to messaging or is not active on the forums then the 15 minute buffer will go on as usual. After this wait the room will assume the driver is unable to race due to technical difficulties, and the race will go on.
  • If three or more cars are involved in first lap incidents due to extenuating circumstances (lag, hardware failures, glitches, black screens) the race will be allowed to restart.
  • Any driver can use the text chat to request a restart during the race. Simply call out for one and the host or acting leader can confirm the restart to the rest of the room.
  • This restart will simply be another formation lap of the non-damaged cars while the damaged drivers repair their vehicles in the pits.
  • The race will "restart" once every one is back in order at the same point it regularly started at on the track.
  • All drivers must line back up in regular starting grid order according to qualifying times.
  • If there was a clear offender that caused the crash, the room may elect to have the driver start at the back, or be ejected from the race entirely.

Rolling starts
BWhYUy3.png

A staggered double-file line is used for our rolling start for the first lap after which the race will begin at the pre-determined starting point.
oQpyV.png
(First time pole sitters will be contacted for confirmation of the following regulations)

  • Pole sitter will be contacted on what side of the track they would prefer to start from (right or left). This detail will be posted in race specific post prior to the race (linked by clicking on the relative track box images in the OP thread).
  • Even number qualifiers will always be on the second place cars lane. Odd number qualifiers will be in the pole sitters lane on the other side.
  • Once the GT5 race countdown has completed and the race event has begun all drivers must hold position and wait for confirmation from the host to proceed. Use your handbrakes, sit silently, report any suspicious latency between cars or lag jolting/skipping. After the host has given the go ahead all drivers will begin to slowly form up in qualifying order. The leader must act as herder, they must not pre-maturely advance from the group, it is their job to keep the pace slow enough until all cars are in position then proceed to formation speed.
  • Even pace at 100 kmh / 62 mph.
  • The pole leader must wait for the grid to line up behind them completely on the start straight before starting the race by applying full throttle at the pre-determined track race starting mark (may not always be the regular start/finish line).
  • No weaving is allowed during formation lap.
  • You must not overlap the car ahead of you.
  • Do not pass any car until you're past the point the pole sitter started the race at.
  • Jump starters will be given warnings or penalties depending on severity.
  • If a driver is damaged on formation then the damaged driver must communicate this through text chat and continue at a reasonable speed to the pit area. The other cars will continue on as normal and the damaged car(s) can join the group as they come around for their first lap. At this point the formation lap will continue on for a second lap after which the race will begin. If it happens once more, the same contingency will be applied and a third formation lap will go on. After this, no more "formation restarts" will be acceptable and the affected drivers must either retire or start far behind the group. Drivers experiencing extreme lag will be asked to leave so the other drivers can race.
  • If, for any reason, a driver misses the formation start and stays behind still on the track the race will not go on, it must be restarted to eliminate the obstacle.

Championship
BWhYUy3.png

  • 7 rounds, 2 dropped rounds taking only your best 5 results. No winner's ballast.
  • 1 point for pole position, 2 points for fastest lap, fastest lap can be counted in either division.
  • There are four drivers per team maximum.
  • Half points will be given for each race in the two heat format. Points are regular for enduro's.
  • Only top two scoring drivers on each team, each race, will score teams' championship points.

Drivers' championship
  • Each driver will score championship points in any race which they compete regardless of where they finish inside their team.
  • The driver's championship is an individual effort which is independent of the team championship.
  • The individual score will be comprised of a "base score" and augmented by a merit based bonus point system.
  • Each driver's top five scores of the seven races will make up their season total.
  • Full explanation of the scoring system here:
    http://pure.gate19.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=728&p=12573#p12573

Team championship
  • Only the top two scoring drivers on each team each weekend will score team points.
  • Team points combine the regular drivers' championship points between the two top scoring drivers and applies it to their teams' championship total score, podium bonuses are included but not fastest lap or pole position bonus points.

Retirements
  • If a driver wants to give up, under a non-emergency situation, they should find clear track (no cars) and proceed safely to the pits.
  • Park your car in the stall by pushing "start" as you're entering pit lane.
  • Do not simply push start after you decide to quit and leave it be.
  • This causes your car to become a potentially dangerous moving obstacle. This will be grounds for a disqualification for the race and possible follow up penalties.
  • You must complete 75% of the race distance in order to be ranked among the point finishers of the race. Positions for multiple DNF drivers will be ranked according to time of retirement.

Penalties
BWhYUy3.png

Full detail behind our penalty system here:
http://pure.gate19.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=728&p=12574#p12574

Infraction Points System

You get infraction points for any offences listed here:
  • 5 for warning
  • 20 for cutting (Beyond warning)
  • 25 for Rejoining track without regard to oncoming traffic, or reckless driving
  • 35 for aggressive driving/punting, Illegal blocking
  • 45 for running another car off track (No damage)
  • 60 for causing avoidable damage
These infraction points will accumulate through out the season into an IP "score." The IP score will be divided by the number of races you've completed at least 75% of. This number will then become your penalty percentage which means that that much percent of your total points score will be taken off as your punishment.
Say you scored 300 points by the end of the season and made 9 races with 140 infraction points.
140 / 9 = 16 (we will round up).
16% of 300 = 48 points taken off your total score to make a final score of 252.
Penalties will only be calculated at the end of the season.
All race results will be final immediately after races are completed.

Introduction

Welcome to the first season of the Super GT Cup! Open invitation! This first season is intended to be a semi-casual introduction to GT6's online racing environment. It is modeled after PURE's previous Super GT and GT500 series. We'll be running the Nissan GT-R GT500 and Subaru BRZ GT300 Base Models together in one room for true multi-class Super GT racing action! There will be multiple divisions, or rooms, in the series made possible by our qualifying method, which runs as a time trial lone style qualifier in the week before a race, so spots are unlimited.

Raceday

Pre-race
  • If a driver sets a qualifying time and is not sure whether they can make the race, we will wait up to 2 hours before the race start for the driver to say whether they will make the race or not.
  • If the driver does not check in we will assume he can not make it and sort the grids appropriately. This gives us 1 hour before Connect time to sort the 2 rooms.

  • Anyone who had a time lower than the driver who dropped out will move up the grid(s) accordingly. 1st driver outside D2 takes D2:16.
  • No room switching after the 2 hour prior to race start deadline is reached.
  • Pre-race briefings by the room host will begin around 10 minutes before green flag start time. We expect all drivers warming up on the track to mind and respect this precedent by removing themselves from the track and doing final preparations (setting up your transmission or other settings for the race).
  • At this time, the room host must make sure the regulations and race settings are set properly for the race (check laps, check damage, collisions, etc.) so that the race can start immediately after checks are done from the pits.
Race
  • The race will be started, once the countdown is clear all GT500 cars must stay in position. GT300 cars will then do a few passes of the track (unlimited speed) in order to lap the GT500 cars according to the prescribed amount of laps the organizers have chosen for that particular round. This could be anywhere from a couple of laps to more than 4.
  • The goal with this head start lapping procedure is to make sure that both the GT500 cars and GT300 cars finish their races within time. If you simply allow GT300 and GT500 to race starting on the same lap, the GT300 cars will be lapped multiple times by the end of the race, making them unable to finish under time, adversely affecting their race results.
  • After the GT300 cars have completed their head start run the GT300 cars will file into their respective grid positions and line up behind the GT500 field.
  • The GT500 field will then sort themselves into their grid positions if they haven't already and start off on the main formation lap at the proper pace of 100 kmh / 62 mph with the GT300 field following a few car lengths behind.
  • The race will then start normally at the pre-determined starting point (not always the start/finish line - this will always be noted in the pre-race briefing each week)

Multi-class Racing Etiquette
BWhYUy3.png

Please watch the following videos describing how to act properly around other classes in a multi-class race. In short: it is the responsibility of the faster to class to make the pass safe, the slower class cars must stay predictable, that means DO NOT attempt to move out of the way for cars unless under extreme circumstances such as a large group of cars fighting through, otherwise, stay in your racing line and the faster car will work around you:

Penalties
BWhYUy3.png

Full detail behind our penalty system here:
http://pure.gate19.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=728&p=12574#p12574

Note: this is a suggestion guideline for stewards to judge racing incidents by. Stewards may change time penalties at their discretion depending on the incident. Contact with both parties involved in the incidents to give them a chance to say their piece will be made before the penalties are made public. Once penalties are given out, they can not be reversed or altered unless it's an extreme case.

/Incident Penalty Outline /
Time penalties
1 - Using an illegal car specification - Disqualification
2 - Over-stepping more than two tires past track boundaries more than three times during a race - 20 seconds
3 - Disregarding pre-defined 'hard' boundaries such as pit lane entry and exit markings - 20 seconds
4 - False race start/Jump start - 20 seconds
5 - Avoidable contact resulting in lost time and not yielding position back to victim * - 30 seconds
6 - Avoidable contact resulting in damage - 40 seconds
7 - Illegal blocking/blue flag rule/forcing drivers off track** - 25 seconds
8 - Not yielding position(s) gained through course cutting - 10 seconds
9 - Rejoining track from out of bounds resulting in blocking race traffic - 10 seconds
10 - Sustained aggressive driving or rule breaking*** - First detailed warning, followed by the racer in question being put on "probation" status.
11 - Committing any offense while under probation - Championship disqualification

How to self-serve or otherwise resolve the incidents during the race, effectively ridding or severely reducing penalties, classifying the accident a racing incident
1 - Not applicable.
2 - Let off the throttle by at least 50% for at least 3 seconds after cutting, do more so at your own discretion if a more severe cut has taken place.
3 - See 2. If cutting on pit entry, simply either hold yourself in the pit stall for three seconds after release (use the start button) or give a slow start coming out of the pits by using less than 50% throttle for at least 3 seconds.
4 - Either get back in line or give back positions gained. If you caused the field to al jump start in a mess, the formation lap must be reformed and corrected on the next lap.
5 - Wait for the victim to re-gain control and start again behind them. You are not to attempt a re-pass until going past two major (numbered) corners.
6 - Wait for the victim to re-gain control and start again behind them. You are not to attempt a re-pass until going past two major (numbered) corners.
7 - Wait for the victim to re-gain control and start again behind them. You are not to attempt a re-pass until going past two major (numbered) corners.
8 - Allow the driver to safely re-take their position before the following lap ends.
9 - Allow all drivers past and start behind them. (See #5)
10 - If it’s apparent enough to the driver, simply serving a self-sustained 15 second pit box hold penalty will resolve the issue on track.
11. Not applicable

*The rule for yielding positions is that you must wait for the car you affected to rejoin or otherwise reorient themselves into the race on track no matter how long it takes for them to do so. Once they are on an effective course either to continue the race or make their way to pit lane for repairs you are allowed to overtake normally as per OLR rules.

**Blue flag rules state that lapped drivers, in the same class, must do their best to allow the leaders an unobstructed racing line. If the lapping car approaches the back-marker during mid-corner or if in a group of multiple back-markers then they must be treated the same as in a mixed class race with said driver(s) being the lower class - this means the lapping driver must follow basic multi-class racing etiquette, allow the drivers to hold regular lines and overtake at the safest following opportunity.

*** Being warned the second time will incur a championship points penalty of a value equal to 7th place position in the championship. A third warning will put the driver in probation therein by committing any subsequent offence will cause them disqualification from the championship.

Yes, it's great to be back.

So now that invites have gone out and you're all reading this, once we get a gauge of who's going to participate, we'll be sending out a new PM for car selection.

I'm sure most of you have a good idea of what you may want to drive at this point. We're doing car allocation just like in the previous two series, assigning cars based on a three car preference scale (pick your top three cars and we'll do our best to assign you a car within those three picks in order to even out the entire field).

Teams will consist of 4 drivers each this time around, which we feel is the sweet spot now.

Sitting in my hotel room in Dartford after the BTCC finale, this is a very pleasent end to a great day.

Hopefully I can make a few races but as usual best I can do is reserve. Hopefully I can snag a HSV ;).

Looks good I think me and TnT can run this after Autobacs finishes up. I personally like to race until the GT5 clock ends. I'm sure a couple of guys from my series will join you for sure. I'm sure with you guys natural popularity and guys from my series will fill your grid up completely. I had planned on may e taking some time off finally but I love racing so I wouldn't be surprised if I'm on your grid for this last series of GT5 👍

Thanks for the invite. I'm flattered to actually be invited to a PURE series. :embarrassed: Unfortunately, at this time it's too difficult for me to actually commit to something like this at this time.

Thanks for the invite Eddie, but I haven't fired up the PS3/GT5 since starting iRacing last December!

Best of luck with what will be a great series!!

Sorry I dont think ill be able to make any of the races, thanks for the invite.

I take it my invite got lost in the post :D!

I'll test and stuff in the rooms anyway if thats cool, want to get racing on GT a little bit before the new one comes out. Get rid of that rust!

Count me in.

I've been racing with another racing league MSP when there been no PURE events. Great bunch of people, very similar to PURE in many ways, but I'm looking forward to another fantastic PURE GT500 series.

I might miss the first event, but should be good for the rest.

This graphic is awesome! Serious kudos to whoever came up with it. 👍

Thanks for the invite, but I can't commit to a weekly series at this point, especially at mid day on a weekend. The schedule looks great and I love the idea of the dual heats on the "mega" drafting tracks.

Good luck (hopefully people are bored with GTA by now and come out for this) and I really do hope to join you guys for some races in GT6.

Looks very nice Eddie :) But I think I will not take part in this series. I haven't played GT5 for a long time and if all goes well (work searching) my timetables will not be nice for be in JGTS3.

Thanks for the invitation and best wishes with the series.

Regards

Hey no problem man, great to see you again!

And thanks Tim! I made that logo with the little animation (which I'm gonna improve a bit later haha, I made it really quickly).

Thanks for the invite! Sign me up. But im pretty certain I'm not home in time for the second race. Ill let you guys know in time. When do we do the car selection?

Working on switching up the schedule a bit. We may extend the schedule to 8 races, adding one more race in December to end the season on the 8th, which is two days after GT6 comes out, hopefully this won't be off putting.

So this weekend will instead be a testing/pre-season round consisting of two, possibly three (depending on participation and time) shorter races where drivers can use any car they like in order to get a gauge for what they'd like to run with in the main season.

But the car selection process will run as it has before in JGTS, with everyone registered for the series getting PM's asking for their top three preferred cars. Once everyone's let us know their top three picks, we go ahead and assign cars to people in order to balance out the skill of the field as much as possible and make each team just as strong as the next one.

PM's for that will be going out within the next couple days.

I'm with Joe on this if I could be invited. He and I are solid team mates and run pretty good. :)

Thanks so much for the invite! I am flattered. At the moment my Sunday schedule is a little hectic so I am unable to commit. Look forward to joining you in the future though!!!!! If I get another invite!

I'll definitely give this a go. I know I can't do the Round 2 date, but others look all ok - and the time of day should be good for me. I'll be rubbish, but oh well :D

Thanks for the invite, and count me in. Only race I won't be able to make is Motegi, since I haven't bought the track and don't plan to do so with GT6 just around the corner.

It's a shame to see quite a few people turning this down :(

Haha, yeah don't let you put that off, in the past I used to require people to let me know whether or not they were going to participate in the PM, lots of people always turn it down due to varying circumstances of course, it's just now this time they're posting in here makes it seem weird.

Looking forward to to having you!

btw guys Tidgney's going to cover the races on his Youtube channel providing commentary, highlights, and wrap ups :D

I'm 50/50 at this point, though I should probably put some www together eh?
