I am losing about a quarter of my tires a lap so three laps will be my limit. It should be interesting for the fatties and the NSXs.

Yeah, I would love to have Barber, Road Atlanta, Road America, and Mid-Ohio (in no particular order). And of course, Watkins Glen.
In order: ;)
Road America
Virginia International Raceway
Willow Springs
Infineon

Don't know these so well.
Barber
Mid-Ohio
Watkins Glen

Serious note, are we going to stop wet races?

It bugs me knowing how much of an impossible handicap having an NSX or probably YMS Supra is during a wet race.
People I normally would have been duking it out with were just trying to salvage the wreckage, while I screwed up all over, and grabbed a podium with more mistakes then I've ever made in a race. :yuck:

Race was a bit boring to be honest, I was happy to be 4th, then I got greedy, went for second, was primed and loaded to pass WiiFreak, binned it 2 laps in a row, second causing damage, early pit, making an extra stop for the race. See-sawed with Ansem, I think he got lag-punched, he was in front of me, driving along and suddenly stopped dead in his tracks.:ouch:
Then TnJF showed up after I continued to spin, slide, and drive into the sand, he might have had me if not for his spin.
Job super well done to Tony, and WiiFreak, and everyone that managed to make it through the race. Definitely an "endurance race" :)

hmm... you know American tracks are kinda flat aren't they. The Glen is flat, Road America is pretty flat, Lime Rock is flat, Sebring is an air strip, VIR is flat...

The Glen is far from flat:

And Road America has some good elevation changes but they aren't abrupt so it seems flat.

This is a beautiful sweedish circuit.. It's not 100% finished yet.. I've driven there a few times on the southern loop thatv was completed 3-4 years ago.. It's aiming to be a modern Nordschleife.. have a look. 👍
But "only" half as long tho.. But akost 10 km is pretty good imo..

The scenery is mazing!!

It does look pretty tasty!

I'm with you Dom! 👍

These are my thoughts..

1. It was a boring race. And I do this for fun.

2. NSX (and possibly YMS) suffers like crazy when it rains. Not fair at all (I'm not complaining over this race, just to let you guys know).

3. This last point is simply because I'm stubborn.. I want to learn how to race in the rain! I want to improve! I want to keep wet races!!

4. Well, as long as Suzuka is our last race, it would be a shame if it was determined because of the weather if, let's say a SC430, a GT-R and an NSX battles for 2nd..

Conclution, no more wet races this season imo. Inianapolis can't have weather, Nurburgring was decided long ago to only be run with time change, and Suzuka is scheduled for weather right now.. So perhaps remove the weather possibility, and save that for next season (If we decide to go with weather for any tracks)..

I don't foresee it being possible in any way to race these cars fairly in the rain, so I'm with you.

When I'm beating you, Nige, and Rees so easily, I know something is wrong.💡
Spa is an NSX track, after all. :scared:

Also I think the general rule of lapped cars letting by asap should be in effect. That doesn't mean mid-corner, or slam on the brakes, it means ease off the throttle in the first straight possibly long enough to let the faster car by. This also does not apply if the lapped car is the faster car.
If done this way, your opponent will have to do the same, everything stays cleaner and easier.

It's pretty awful getting stuck behind a car on bald tires when your pace is 5 seconds a lap quicker, not that I'm in that situation often. More awful then letting a faster car past, and it hinders the faster car more to wait then the slower car, as well.

If you guys want a track that isnt flat...... Knockhill! :D

Heres a lesson with Gordan "Flash" Shedden :D. Love how the idiot doesnt listen to Sheds on the first lap "let it rev out in 4th" *slots into 5th" .... "let it rev out in 3rd touching the limiters its not a big problem" *slots into 4th*. He gets the hang of it eventualy but who says racing drivers arent good passengers ;).

I'll have a look later but I doubt anything touches Mt. Panorama for sheer vertical terror and speed.

I drive the NSX here obviously and although it's a tough car to drive in the wet, I'm not sure I'd want us to drop wet races. They are a part of racing in real life and should remain here. The problem today was that it was a last minute change and I believe what little help we would have got from our wet set-ups, went out the window as we all expected a much drier track. If we were able to run intermediates on a semi-wet track, I'm sure we could have competed a little better, but the 100% wet was challenging to say the least ;). To me it's all part of the racing package and we should accept it.

I hear you Welsh.. It's just that the difference between the NSX and the SC430's/GT-Rs in 100% wet was too big.. It was'nt even a fight.

In semi wet, sure, but 100% wet, there was not a chance for us.

True enough Den, so maybe a compromise to only ever set it up as we did today and maybe check track conditions once set, before deciding if we want to reset the weather again. I think we'll all agree today's weather based on the settings was pretty bizarre!! I just think removing it all together, would take something away from the series. Also, I must say, I found Spa particularly tricky in the wet, whereas Monza would be more forgiving to the different manufacturers. Maybe we could just set weather races up on the less technical tracks, although I'm not too sure what sort of options that would give us.

Good post! 👍

We can decide a pre determined weather scenario..

Something like:

Forecast says 0-33% of rain = we run totally dry race.

Forecast says 43-67% of rain = we run 25% weather, 5 change, surface 0%

Forecast says 68-100% of rain = we run 25% weather, 5 change, surface 10%

something along those lines..

There's always a random element to weather settings in GT5, so whatever settings you choose, 25, 50%, you can get the same weather from either, it's the odds that change is all.

Rain rain rain. Lol bit childish but hey.

I think rain should be kept I quite enjoy racing in the rain. I did quite a big of practice for once for the rain and to start with I couldn't even keep the car on the track, but after awhile and a big setup change it was almost impossible to go off the track with 100% surface rain.

It's all about how much you practice/setup work you do...

I think the setup helps a lot, I went with a full rain setup today.
It's why I was trying to get a set type of weather listed ahead of time, so we'd know what the track would look like at the start.

Any suggestions how to come to some kind of solution? Perhaps a 25% odds is the best we can get.. If so, then so be it...? Or..?

Yea, practice plays a huge part, no doubt. But when it's such huge difference between different cars, it's too much imo. Sure, we can run wet races.. but not as wet as the D1 race was.. At least not put the weather higher than 25.. If it still rains that much, sp be it.. In that case, there's nothing we can do.. Tough luck for the NSX drivers if so.. I'm cool with that.

25% weather is probably going to be 100% dry 75% of the time.

I think the secret is in the change reading, maybe 6-7 would work well. So that no matter the weather at start, we can expect the weather to at least change some.
25% Weather with a change rate of 7, track surface 20-0% at start, something like that might be good.

Looks like I have some rather meteorological testing in my future. I'm really interested in nailing down all these "settings."

Was just thinking the same think Eddie. We need to sit down in a lounge and go through different options with the rain settings and find out what 'generally' does what. ;)

Yeah, I'll bring my HD rig for documentation. I figure we can just change stuff then talk racing, then change it slightly again, reset, note it, then talk again :D.

Sounds like a good idea guys, I reckon with enough tests, you'll find it raining 25% of the time on 25%, 50% on 50%, etc.
I'm not sure though, so it's definitely a good idea to test. Would love to get "gentle rain", that increases track wetness only 40-50% over an hour or 2. :)

Ran a couple laps, timed one, 8:17.xxx. Gonna have to save tires a bit and pit every three laps. :(

Just to let everyone know I'm away from Thursday 26th - Sunday 12th feb. I shall be in south Africa running away from the lions Lol. They probably won't like me as i don't have much meat on me. But they could use me as a tooth-pick Lol

They'll use you as an appetizer before they get that fat bloke.

Get some good LR Defender driving in. ;) 👍

Will get D2 results up within the next few hours if nobody else has/is!

Thanks. I need:
driver - total time - gap - best lap

If no one has the race result screen with all the total times that's fine just pause the replay when the leader hits start/finish (if you pause it slightly after the line you can just subtract the 0.xxx seconds off of the total timer and it will be accurate). Then I can just calculate total times with the gap numbers.

Well I seems that I am in a negative bucle (fatal bucle probably) and i can't be faster than I am. I got really damage on the accident in lap 1. with the motor and the suspension really damaged. since that I just wanted to get a good lap to lap but my strategy and my trips over the grass punished me :ouch:

In addition this week race seems to be very hard and posibilty of rain, I'm really scared guys :scared: I had never raced at Nurburgring 24h seriously so... the next 3/4 days will tell me what can Iexpect from the german track jajajaja

sorry SG15 was my fault you got caught up between mine and wardez incident, I got angry and hit my steering wheel and hit the pause button (oops), computer took control and moved to track. However I was still spinning at this point so anything could of happened. But incase it was my thought I'm sorry
