Got some practice in today which went pretty good, but struggling for consistency here at Laguna. Hit a best of 1'20.4xx, but would be very happy with anything under 21 for quali'. A couple of short races showed how difficult it is to pass here, so a good grid spot is going to be quite important ;)

Nice lap there Dom, considering how 'wild' a ride it looked in the one race :D

Found most my speed by racing short races with guys in the 20/21 zone. Just pushed it till I found the zone. Clicked off 7 21's out of a 10 lap race. ;)

I'm definitely not "in it" this time around. Again. 21.5 as PB now, and it won't happen for qualifying. I'll be lucky if I hit 21.9 for qualifying run. After narrowly missing D1 last time and getting disconnected on 2nd lap, I was already losing the will to race. Now I will confess it's nearly gone.

I would love to just give up. But at the same time I know I can't, and if I did, I would kick myself in rage (and I hate unfinished business). To be honest, GT5 competitions are giving me more bad times than good times, and for something I do to have fun, it means it's not working.

There's a good chance I'll just stop racing for good after JGTS S2. Or, at least, take a good long break.

Get into the Laguna rhythm Alex. :)

I'll be on later if you or anyone wants to open up a practice room.

As for Laguna, I've always hated it. I've NEVER had a good race there. Not even once. Every time I have raced at Laguna Seca, I've always had a disappointment. So yeah, not exactly holding my breath here. And I really don't know how to be quick. I just... don't. But thanks for the encouragement 👍 .

(Sometimes a man has to accept his own limits. And I have very clear limits in every area of my life  )

I'll make a confession to you guys. The frustration of my latest speed is so high that every time I drive, I want to stop. And whenever I'm not driving, I feel the need to go behind the wheel to be quicker and feel better. But of course it never happens, and so I'm stuck in this never-ending cycle of destruction. Yikes!!

Agreed with you 100% brother!

Obviously speed in qualifying is one thing, but going through the corkscrew or the penultimate corner consistently, especially on warn tyres (and if you're in a "battle" with others) - that's could be make or break for some.

Not for all, but I think some might benefit from the steady as she goes approach and just keep things clean and consistent the whole race, having a car that won't react to the problem corners when tyres are low..

Only problem is, those kind of setups might not get you on the grid in quali - dilemma, but kinda cool dilemma too...

Should be interesting how the two races pan out on Sunday..

Would be cool to do some distance tests on Saturday, if anyone is up for it??

@Alex. Then your determination can't be faulted. Everyome has their limits. It only makes it worse that the field is very competitive and that actually is a good thing. :) I'll be in the room in half an hour.

Of course, but seeing Josh, who I have raced with at 99% same level with GT300s (I consider he holds the edge over me, at least on pure speed) perform more than 1 second quicker per lap than me now... It makes me think I should be quicker. (You're doing great, man! 👍 )

Also I'm guilty of being a very competitive person. I hate losing. And the fact I hate losing combined with the fact I never win at anything makes for a very bad result.

I would say Josh is the most improved as of late so I wouldn't worry about him. I have him in my rear view mirrors lol. I think Jeff has improved his game considerably too.

@Alex, I think you may have to take short term pain, for a long term gain and use manual gears. Sure, you will be slower at first but inside a few days, you will soon be quicker. I don't know if there are any stats, but I would guess that manual gears are worth a few tenths per lap. Maybe Aderrrm could run a lap with manual and a lap with automatic gears to show you the difference?

Well done my lap which was a disaster lol. Spun at corckscrew....

I just hope I even make the cut off for D2 lol

With the current format, you could have a Q setup and a race setup. The former should be one capable of getting you PB's right off the bat. The latter should be something that's comfy and consistent, even if it's a few hundredths off.

Oh, if you only knew the limits I face...

Jeff knows.
