Tuning: Yes or no?

I don't get why people vote, and then not post in the thread. Really dumb, imo.

The thing is, is that some of those people are familiar names who you'd think would want to join in. Jav, Aliens and Remy_K stand out to me.

Maybe they're considering it and their decision will be based question at hand?

I voted "No" for the sake of leveling the field and reducing the time one has to spend working on a tune (I know Nastra likes to take A LOT of time to do it, and I know I suck at setting up the car, for instance).

When I drove the car it didn't seem so wild, and I'm saying this, knowing I struggle with half the SuperGT cars. Maybe I just didn't push it at 100% and didn't realise, and once I do I'll see the car's crazy... but so far zero tuning seems fine to me.

Obviously if the final decision is Yes, I'll still race :D

I took the car around the green hell yesterday. My impressions is just basically the car is like a detuned SuperGt. I found no problems with the car at default tuning. So, yes, I want NO tuning

I actually do not know how to tune. I just apply some recommended suspension settings at the beginning of the season and stick with them, adjusting the aero and transmission. Truth be told, I sometimes need A LOT of practice time to do decently well because I simply don't know many tracks. The only tracks I know are the one's I've raced with you guys.

Excellent. Thanks for sharing.

CSL has made many good points, and it isn't hard to find a good base tune in gtplanet's tuning section, but even adjusting the aerodynamics and transmission is more tuning than I want to do. When practice time is limited, it's most enjoyable to be able to concentrate solely on the track and not worry about tuning whatsoever.

I can't wait to take the car out of a thorough spin.

I've decided that a little tuning might be needed,
But I took the car out last night and was very pleased with the power and handling(in stock).
Took it around monza and got 1.46s it was just a few laps.

What do you mean detuned? Doesn't it have the same power as most GT500's, but with low aero and less weight?

Like I said though, I am perfectly fine with "no tuning", but it will in fact separate the field more, not less. Just sayin'.

Faster/Slipperier/Harder to control = More mistakes and spread out races.

This is what I'm going to do.

We're going to have a practice race in a couple of weeks, after FMSC is over. Same format as what we'll use for the season. Race 1 will be done with tuning allowed. Race 2 will be do with no tuning. Then we'll see what we like the best and go from there.

Hopefully this is after the patch for buying a new car, as apparently, I for whatever reason, added a stage 1 engine to my car. This is the only car of the bunch I have done it to, and I am kicking myself.

Stage 1 turbo and engine is already on the car I thought the same thing, then I turned on the no tuning button and got on the track.

It has 460HP, GT500s are around 500, 510HP. It has less aero but weighs less. But it drives well, only tends to spin a bit in 2nd gear but other than that is great. Good stability through quick corners, good braking. Just a little tail happy on low speed corners.

If it's fixed setups (no tuning), does the car hit the top gear limiter on long straights?

Anyway, I've tested this car a fair amount of laps for WSGTC. The times were pretty consistent with the GT300 field, albeit with a 100kg ballast (And all cars were restricted to 300hp in the tests). The car feels neutral to me but is on the loose side coming off the corners.

...so maybe restrict HP (which means tuning will be allowed)? It should make the car more manageable and bunch the field closer making for much exciting and competitive racing.

This car needs tuning. At least because there may be people here that aren't good without TC. With TC the car would be fine, but getting loose out of turns is going to be abundant as the D/F is low in stock setting, and the LSD settings are weird. I'm for whatever, I can drive it as is, but tuning will make it easier IMO, for people not so great without TC.

This is perfect. Great idea.

I also like how the thread is named. For whatever reason, Honda GTPlanet Integra World Championship was very difficult for my brain to see because Honda and Integra were separated.

Right now, anyone who's interested can sign-up. We'll see who's still around come January, and if we have more than 16, we can still accommodate.

Hey mule, I am in for this series.

#22 bdubclub(bdubclub): blue/white.
I don't know the exact colors but will post it up when I can get to the PS.

I would like to keep tuning open, seems it keeps the field a bit closer, IMO.

Have I understood this corrrectly: the tuning debate is about whether you should be able to add new tuning parts and not remove the ability to change the setup on the car?

I think that the December update gives us the ability to buy multiple of the DLC cars, I believe PD promised to give us that option. But until then it could be problematic to ban tuning.

As far as I'm aware it's just a debate on being able to change the setup (Suspension,LSD ect.).

I'll still be interest in January for sure.

Drove the car again yesterday (previous time was way back when the DLC came out). I stand by my no-tuning vote. It's nicely balanced, and when the back steps out I can usually catch it, and I can do that only on the well-behaved cars. It's gonna need gentle throttle control in 2nd (and in 3rd once the tires wear), a skill I certainly don't practice often enough. TC=1 should help those who aren't willing to learn.

Then I might HAVE misunderstood the debate. Tuning in Danish is adding more power to a car (like a turbo etc)... while in English it's changing the setup of a car.. apparantly.

Well if tuning is allowed it will be up to Mule what we're allowed to tune and what we aren't.But yes tuning is modifing a car to improve it's performance, I was just saying I was under the impression that the engine and turbo was not going to be improved. Also changing the setup of the car can improve the performance thats why I see that as tuning.

It's pretty much both for me.

Yeah, no matter what, the cars wont have any additional parts, or "upgrades" added to them.

This is all simply trying to figure out if we want to be able to adjust the stuff that is already on the car, like the Suspension and Transmission.

I am officially signing up
