Congrats, Grandad Turismo lol! It DOES have a nice ring to it. I think this is one of the best threads I have read on this site. Awesome and my hats off to you, sir.

Congratulations

I'm almost there myself... grinding B spec for the final trophy I need... the Air of Experience.

I sort of wish I'd left the final one for one of the driving trophies as this grinding malarky is sooo boring, but still, will feel nice once it's finally over.

Agree that Age of Experience is one of the really boring ones. I guess PD wants to force a certain level of grind for those that want to capture Platinum. Collecting 1000 cars fits in the same category. My B Spec driver needed 365 races for Age of Experience. Hopefully you are close.

I didn't mind the car one as I'd alway had the intention of getting every car in the game, and a group of us set about the task almost from release day... using an organised plan to collect the expensive cars by duping and trading them... this was before the 1 car a day trade limit started. Then it was just a matter of cycling the UCL, and buying all the cheap cars, until I got to the last 30 or so, before going back to organised trading to complete the collection.

I think A spec lvl 40 would have taken some patience if it hadn't had been for 24h Nurb glitching in the X1 (which was also a big help with car buying back in the day)... though the introduction of the log in bonus and Seasonal A spec races would have got me there eventually.

The rest were relatively simple - with only the Vettle challenges at Suzi and Nurb offering any real challenge... Suzi was OK as I'd raced the track 1000's of times online in Prologue, but the Nurb one was a PITA until I learnt the track.

I'm about 90% of the way to filling the career bar on my Bob... so hopefully only 50 or so trips round Tsukuba to go until Platinum.

Not quite as old as you though... I'm just a kid at 45 years old ;)

The issue with collecting 1000 cars is the simple act of buying the cars...

Once I started earning a fair amount of credits I started buying the thre most expensive cars in the UCD. After a while it began to be rare that cars that I didn't own showed up. I now buy expensive duplicate cars from the various dealerships when I get close to 20 million credits. I now have over 1400 cars.

I now have to spend time cleaning out "items" such as horns, helmets and suits so I can collect more cars. I don't collect any horns and eliminate duplicates in helmets and suits.

Hopefully GT6 comes along before I have 7000 cars and I have to start eliminating duplicate cars.

Yeah, the process of actually buying cars is very, very frustrating... simply the amount of time it takes. If you could have just ticked the 20 cars in the UCD you didn't have, and buy them all at the same time it would have been a load better!

Without the help of my friends it would ahve taken much longer to tick off the final 30 or so as it got to the stage that I was cycling the UCL 5 or 6 times and nothing new woud appear.

Like you, I have a lot of cars now... I think I have c.1,350, at least one of every version, and multiples of anything interesting, including all the 20 mill cars and all the LMP's... but I only really drive a small group of cars regularly and run seasonal TT's

Anyhow, finally managed to get the Air of Experience at 12.16am last night, and the Platinum trophy is now complete :D

I'm now starting to feel a strange compulsion to get to 100% completion too... I didn't feel this before getting the Platinum  Given the latest Seasonals don't look interesting (I'm no fan of 4WD cars or running on snow), I may take the next couple of weeks off TT's and run through the final 3 A spec enduros I've not run yet.

Oh, and make sure you register your achievement here... https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=161901
