So what do you guys think about GT:S sound? From the interior I think it's decent but from the outside camera view it's way too sterile, sounds move like a hive of bees than cars in a race IMO.

Also what's up with the driver holding his hands so unnaturally on the steering wheel? his wrists are on the inside instead of straight in line with his arms/hands.
There is no engine sound on the interior camera. Yes you can hear racing transmissions whine in real life, but it is no where near as exaggerated. It's like someone unckecked the box for interior engine sound.

GT Sport still has a mile to go by the looks of it. I just finished a night race on PCars at Spa last night that rocked. Light illuminating the inside of my cockpit, full lighting and shadows on the fencing and signage, dynamic clouds and weather as I raced around the track. And Pcars is only going to raise the bar by year's end...

Not to mention the back fire from my Merc AMG Coupe that looked awesome as well!

Replay frame rate looks sweet on GT but still looks sterile to me. :yuck:

@IanBell @The_American cant remember if this has been asked before but.. when racing online and on a lap in practice-Qualy/warm up when the time runs out that finishes the session straight away, will this change to let you finish your lap for pcars 2? Would probably need a timer like when a race is finished so you don't have certain people holding up lobbies by parking it before they finish there lap. Would make qualy better for long tracks.

@IanBell @TheAmerican Will there be grid penalties if you royally screw up with an accident? Would also help keep the smashers at the back :)

Also : chance of past f1 venues like magny cours being included if you don't need an f1 licence?

Thanks in advance

THe good news is that Jim plans on continuing the app, and is in contact with folks at SMS regarding the UDP data stream capabilities. SO even if the in game version doesn't, you will still be able to use the Crew Chief App.
This is fantastic news as I downloaded the app last week for use on my Xbox One and it works flawlessly and opens up the game in a massive way.

It's very easy/cheap to make lights that do not actually light up anything or create shadows.

Ian wont accept cheap lighting trickery like this for project cars. All vehicle headlamps and i believe even track lighting will create/cast shadows and properly light the environment and that's for all game modes, not just while driving or while watching replays.

Serious question: does the tech employed mean that tail lights (and brake lights) in pCARs 2 can't ever glow as vividly and realistically as they do in the GTS replay video I linked?

The only issue I have with the pCARS' tail lights is they make the tarmac look a little too shiny with their reflections. When the game launched on console this effect was absent IIRC and they patched it in, and although nice looking I'd like to see the effect turned down a little, but it really is a minor niggle.

GTS replays amps every thing up 10x its not like during a race

^Yes

^Yes

"On your left... on your left... you're in the middle, three wide... clear left... you're in the lead, good job mate."

Can't have Project Cars without Crew Chief! If you could somehow hire him and make it an official part of the game that would be incredible.

"Will there be grid penalties for crashes?"
^Yes
That's courageous, seeing how royally ****ed up Codemaster's penalty system always was; notoriously known for punishing innocent bystanders.
How are you going about preventing such outcomes?

XXI
Why are we all hung up on tail lights suddenly?

As long as there's some form of indication the car in front on me is slowing, I don't care if I can't tell if they're leds or bulbs.

Cars, tracks, physics, content.

Bit of an over reaction, I'm pretty sure they are not going to abandon everything to improve the rear lights, graphics detail & immersion is important to some people & i don't see it impacting on core of the game.

@IanBell @The_American @Wolfe @jake2013guy im going to vouch for this as hard as i can, CUSTOM GRID SETUPS=MORE CUSTOMERS ALSO= ANGRY COMPETITION. Plz :gtpflag:👍👍👍;) if it can be in an update or future game then i will be pleased and so will many others who enjoy this game. You will already wipe the competition with this game and its announced features, i promise you if this feature was in........:bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:

If you mean custom grid layouts, check out this post of Wicken's, specifically the second picture. Sure, it may be disabled in the current version, but hopefully it's coming eventually. :)
This is the Server admin, no custom grid editor. You're on a totally wrong path.
Anyway. Somewhere Ian answered here, to force it. But that is maybe no 100% promise.

This is only PC though?

The pictures you can see on the post I linked are from the PC only dedicated server interface and these should match (I can't think of a reason why they wouldn') what's available for the in-game server hosting options on the PC at the very least, probably on the consoles as well.

Really? I didn't remember that post of his.

In any case, since there's an option (assuming it will be enabled for release) to select a custom grid layout it follows that we will have the ability to make custom grid layouts eventually. So, unless I completely misunderstand what you mean, I think my post above still has relevance. :)

@TheoSkullz12 -- I'm not SMS or WMD, but you made my morning if I've been helpful enough to be mistaken for someone on the team. :)

I'm sure RAM is a potential bottleneck if it limits what they can do even just for liveries, when there could be dozens of cars on the track. So there can't be too many different cars on the grid, which definitely precludes open-class custom grids for one thing.

If it's possible within a single class, I would love the ability to select the AI's cars, liveries, and starting order. Based on my experience with Enthusia Professional Racing, it adds a considerable amount of replay value if you can do things like rival showdowns (eg. Porsche vs Ferrari) or have a bit of fun like "red versus blue" with half of the grid in each color. 👍

Just to let you know, i'm not a SMS representative. I just created and edited threads based on known information.

Are "custom grids" and "custom championships" two different things? If yes then I think that's where this conversation when sideways. I though Ian was talking about custom championships trying to get it in

Just my 2cents

Custom grids option to change driver names maybe?

Right right thank you for reminding me about the limitations because its something iv'e wanted for so long that i guess or i hope someone could make it a reality on consoles.

I was wondering about this ever since i heard that Daytona was going to be in the game, will there be any future addition to having those numbers that light up on the side of the car to tell position placement be in the game of the future installment. PS: I don't expect them to be color coded or to be a big deal im just thinking for the value of the Replays when doing multiclass racing especially in the career mode you know makes watching the replays and the career mode one more thing to look foward to.

Possibly. Theo asked about custom grid setups though, which I took as meaning custom grid layouts for cars, which we have a possible hint for in the dedicated server UI screenshots. That is why I linked to them.

Right, more specifically custom championships offline. Online ones are already confirmed AFAIK.

Right, i meant the placement of the cars on grid. Ian has already said that he was vouching for custom championships for offline which i am too for the next installment of Project CARS
