@IanBell I assume you and your team are very occupied finishing PCARS2 for this generation of machines and I was simply wondering if PCARS3 plans are already being worked (licensing negociations for example) on for the next generation of consoles? Does one team stay for development of PCARS2 while others are ready to move on? I image it works the same as with PCARS -> PCARS2 or is it different?

Question is simply out of interest.

* probably won't get an answer but heck at least I can try :P
I'll be amazed if they release another iteration of this series on this generation of consoles or even this decade, to be honest. Although I expect the next gen consoles to release somewhere around 2019 as that would be approximately the same timeframe from PS3 to PS4 so as Cluck said, don't expect anything about next gen development until then.

It was said during the release of PC1 content and regarding the announcement of WMD2 that people who work on UI will not be able to work in areas like car and track modelling for example. I'm not surprised if licensing negotiations include intentions to carry on to a third iteration assuming that's what track licensees want to do. Seeing as all circuits from PC1 return, this being the case wouldn't be a surprise.

Although, SMS do have that mystery film based franchise in the meantime and can design and make some strides into PC3.

Although take what I say with a pinch of salt. I could be completely wrong.

Yeah the question came to mind because we will also see a shift in console generation over de next 2 years so with that in mind I find it hugely interesting on how it will work. PCARS to PCARS2 stays within current generation but from 2 to 3 that won't most likely be the case.

I think that even withount PCARS2 being out, there must be plans for the 3 installment of the series. The blueprint/plan needs to come together before development starts and I can only imagine that contentwise it could depend on the succes of PCARS2. Which raises another question: What goals does SMS set themselves for PCARS3? Which route to take? How to innovate? Or does one simply wan't to see a huge refinement due to extra power of the next gen consoles. What difference in possibillities?

I have actually quite a lot of confidence in this franchise and it was something I didn't have at all when PCARS1 came out mainly due to its issues.

The amount of people shocked when SMS announced pC2 and sill can't separate the ideia of "support is over" (probably until this day even when proven otherwise) is amazing.

But trolls will be trolls (same as haters). Best to ignore them because there's no need to waste on those who don't want to learn.

I've got a question in regards to the real weather option if anyone can give me an answer I would greatly appreciate it.

So one of the things that put me off on offline custom race weekends in Pcars1 was that when setting the weather slots I
1) either know exactly what weather is coming which felt like cheating
2) if setting it to random there was always the chance that you could have sunshine->rain->sunshine->fog which could give unrealistic results.

Now I'm not bashing the game at all, and I love that we have so much control but the end result just put me off custom race weekends.

If I were to set it to real weather at Imola and set a date of 10 September 2006...then the weather will play out as it was on 10 September 2006 at Imola? If so that would be great and truly eliminate the issues I had with custom race weekends.

Is this true? I'll be stoked if so...

Hi, i've a question hope you can answer me. I wanted to know if the season pass will be available on PS store at the launch of game and if Interlagos will be released as DLC at the day one. Thx for reply

No idea to the first question but I would be surprised if it isn't available prior to launch. Highly unlikely on the second one. Tracks take a VERY long time to build and that's once all the licensing work is completed :).

Until a next-generation console is officially announced, I very much doubt you will hear official word from any developer that they are working with one :)

As for future plans, I imagine that a lot of the 'what next' will be very reliant on how pCARS2 fares. I will say this though, on that front, and people can hold me to account for it, in the unlikely event that it doesn't happen :-

"If Project CARS 2 sells less copies overall than Project CARS 1, in the same timeframe, I will buy a hat* and I will eat it, live on YouTube :)"

* OK, so it might be a nacho hat that I buy, but I will do so, you have my word.

With coleslaw?

In theory that's how it works. I'm not 100% sure that it worked correctly in pCARS 1 though, but I can't say I've done some specific testing to verify it. I can say that I've done multiple races on British tracks with real weather and it usually didn't rain, so that's why I have my suspicions :)

My question is with WEC Endurance racing so 24 hours of Daytona, Le Mans ECT are we getting the light system in the cars so when your are 1st 2nd and 3rd in your class will this be implemented into Project Cars 2

The next generation has to happen sometime, but to me it's like the PS4 and XBone have only now entered their stride. The first 2-3 years were nothing. After I get a Nintendo Switch, I don't expect to be thinking about another console until the 2020s. Games development has gotten so time-consuming for developers.

Even when you look at it from a marketing aspect, what are Sony and Microsoft going to have as their standout thing when the Xbox One X and GT Sport are out and the hype for that dies down? Sure, they'll find some other exclusives but that won't be a huge thing for them to shove down people's throats for a while which is another reason why I expect them to release around 2019.

Glad I didn't pre-order. The really annoying thing about this was how it was used as a selling point for PC1 and now PC2 is coming out were still no closer to having it.
VR is there on PC since PC1 :) Even GTS has a very simplistic VR mode on PlayStation. With PC2 having much more sophisticated tire model and all the dynamic weather options it's just not possible to run on such weak hardware, even with 1 car.

With the lack of Lmp1 cars (i won't even get into that because there is dlc) that we have being only hybrids, do we have the choice of or can we assign a button so we can decide when to use it like the Kers and DRS except when we drive the formula cars (another question) will the DRS be active in DRS zones on tracks for formula 1 (A) or are we able to use that whenever as well?

I imagine it will be the same as PCars1 where you can assign a button to DRS and KERS/P2P/Hybrid and use it whenever. Also, because the Formula A is 2011, having the DRS usable whenever is accurate

I have asked this several times regarding the LMP1 cars but got no response from the SMS guys. I assume we will have the same set-up as PCars1 as opposed to the more advanced system of Assetto Corsa.

If it's like PCars 1, hybrid will be automatic with the amount of throttle input. I'd like to see it implemented closer to AC personally.

In PCARS1 singleplayer career mode you can swap to the driver AI for about every race when you pit. I'd like to see this blocked (or an option for this block) so that it's more in line with the real life motorsports (only possible for endurance races). Is this changed in PCARS2?
